Knocking this down a bit. They are somewhat slow and I wish they would charge for items first and then get them ready. It's kind of a mess to give your order, then get out of the way for others to give their orders, then have to fight your way back to pay whilst potentially holding more than one item yet having to balance your stuff to pay. It's just not very efficient at all. Also, how is it that the doors opening inward is not a safety code violation? When I tried to leave today I had to ask people to move to even get the door open because it opens inward. It's just far too small a place to have a door that opens into the shop.

Just good old fashion soft serve ice cream. Plain and simple. Plenty of parking the back. Every time I walk in I feel like I'm a kid again.

Two small cones were ordered. One is done correctly and one is after being asked to fix it. Can you guess which is which?

Dairy Queen O' Dairy Queen. This little store had always been at this place, serving people with their delicious ice cream. Something that I always ponder about this place is how great their business must be with all the people booming when they're in season. They're closed during the winter season and reopens when the spring/summer season is on deck. Am I complaining about this? Not really, because it's certainly a very reasonable management tactic. While this place served and still does serve great-tasting ice cream, their recent experiences haven't been so great. This place is usually packed, especially during the hot & humid summer days in the area. They have a "C" looking parking lot where people can park in the back. Not too spacious but not their fault since it's a small place. I hate to say it, but this place can be a hit or a miss. I'm not talking about the flavor because as far as I've had them, it always tasted great, consistently, even when their customer service is extremely subpar. I only have dipped/non-dipped cones and blizzards at this place because their non-dairy items seem almost nonexistent although it's still on the menu. But cones are my go-to items. So this place has 3 sizes for their cones. Small, medium, and large. Not too surprising right? Well, the funny thing is, sometimes a small can come out as big as a medium, and sometimes a medium as small as a small. The ordered portion and the actual size received aren't very consistent. I'm not super picky with portion most of the time, but this place for some reason experiences frequent portion control issues. I don't know if each employee is asked to have their own idea of a portion or not, but I always wonder if I'm going to get the right portion whenever I visit this place. If the portion is right, great! If smaller, well, not so great. Getting a "bigger portion" is a very rare occasion, and I only mentioned this to be fair that it did technically happen, just not as many since the instances are fewer than my fingers can count. My number of visits to this place isn't few, so I'm not some person pointing something out after an instance or two of not my liking. One thing really annoying is that this place makes it very clear that they don't like it when asked to fix the portion. When the cone comes out much smaller than it should be, and even when the management/owner sees the item, they don't try to fix it unless specifically asked to. They try to be professional with their words, but their facial expressions don't reflect that. Maybe they get called out a lot and aren't happy with it. Who knows. Not only that, this place is expensive for what you get. Three small cones, no dipping, and the total will come out very close to $10. At least they take cards. While tasty, it certainly isn't reasonable pricing at all. They taste great, I give them that, but for their poor service skills and pricing, I can't talk pleasantly about this place. The cone on the left is the "fixed" state. It originally was as high as where the swirl starts. The one on the right is the correct small size. 1 star for their taste and 1 star for serving ice cream in the area for a long time. Bon appetit.

I came here for trivia last night with a few friends who love this place. The food looks great (I had already eaten, so I didn't partake this time), and I appreciate that they have quite a few vegetarian/vegan options. Their beer menu is extensive and my friends liked all the varieties they tried, and they have a few NA options as well. All the staff were super friendly. It's a great space. I'll be back. Side note: Parking was a bit complicated, as the lot isn't big enough for the size of the venue, but there are street parking options around. At least they have a dedicated lot though, which a lot of other places in Evanston don't have.

It's spacious and a super cool venue, which was used for my daughter's high school fundraiser last weekend. I visited Double Clutch twice within one week. The first was a meeting held at the venue right before the event where everyone got to enjoy some beer (except those of us who don't love beer and opted for water) and some of the food that would be served at the event the following weekend. I munched on some turnbuckle pretzels, fried buffalo bites and cauli wings- all were pretty good! A few days later we sold out with a 300 person event, although honestly we could have fit way more in the space because there was plenty of room to move around. The band Go Ask Your Mum was playing lots of fun 80s and 90s hits, there was a buffet of the food we had tried a few days beforehand and the bar was busy. I opted for wine, which was good. The acoustics here aren't great, which i noticed during the meeting and during the event. The band was fun to listen to, but i could hardly hear anyone i was speaking to. But that's really my only complaint since it's a great space!

It's located right down the street from Northwestern University's football stadium (whatever the heck they're naming it). This is a nice hidden gem in Evanston. Not located downtown, it may have a chance to stick around a while. As Jane V. noted in her review, you are greeted by a delicious smoky smell when you enter the restaurant. It was an inviting smell (at least for me), others in our group thought we were walking into a barbecue joint and were less than thrilled, but the menu put them at ease as it has a lot of options. There were five of us and one couple decided to share a couple appetizers as their entrees. They ordered the Cauliflower Buffalo Bites, and the Macho Nacho. They were huge portions easily enough for us all to share. However, my wife and I don't see eye-to-eye with our eating habits (she is mostly vegetarian and I'm a card-carrying carnivore), so she was not about to share the smoky wings and cheesy tots with me. I opted for the Chicken Vesuvio entree, and she and our other friend both ordered the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese. I would say most the sandwiches looked good (no portobello for me, thanks). I would say though, the desserts are pretty generic, so we opted out, but their is a door inside the restaurant to the donut shop next door (which was closed), but I wanted to try that place, so I'll have to make another trek out there for them and review them later. I'm amazed that the donut shop, DB3 Donuts, does not appear on their menu at all, despite having a connecting door from one establishment to the other, but alas, I've heard their apple crisp and brownie are good, but neither were too appealing that night. All meals were delicious and I definitely need to go back and try other dishes. And may DB3, if they are open. Give this place some love as it is a nice gem in Evanston.

Holy Moley, did we find great food in Evanston!…read more We celebrated Saint Patrick's Day at Ten Mile House restaurant in Evanston @tenmilehouse When we walked in the door, they had a delicious smoky smell that was driving me crazy. So much so that I ordered the smoked Sampler plate, and was I glad I did. I started off with their Top O' The Morning special Saint Patrick's cocktail (Titos, Curacao, and orange juice shaken and poured over ice). I really loved this drink. My hubby had a Margarita that was just delightful. Our appetizers were: Angry Shrimp (really delicious) shrimp with a spicy tomato garlic sauce. Served over polenta cake. Ahi Tuna Wanton (mango jicama salsa, avocado, and teriyaki sauce) This should be their signature appetizer). The presentation is impeccable. It appealed to our eyes before the 1st bite. And,the first bite, as well as the rest, was wonderful. We would gladly return here just for this. Our entrees were: Grilled Salmon with corn risotto, grilled asparagus, smoked tomato aioli. The salmon was well cooked to medium, not too dry, and not too rare. The plate was well balanced and everything was very tasty. Smoked Sampler My favorite! Rib tips, brisket, pulled pork, Texas toast, cole slaw. For dessert: Chocolate Brownie Apple Crisp Both were so good that we did not want to share! The next time you are in the Evanston area, you really must stop in for their delicious food!
