This is a mixed review based on my first and only experience at this establishment. I would first like to say that the food was very good, my burger was excellent. My experience with the owner was awful. When paying for my order, I used a debit card. The girl working the register said she removed my card too quickly and the charge didn't go through and ran it a second time. No problem, however I received an alert on my phone that I was charged twice and in fact, the first attempt and second both cleared my account. I showed this to her and she promptly refunded me for one of the charges. At this point everything is wonderful. While eating my food, the owner came to the counter and yelled across the restaurant full of customers that my card was declined and my ticket was unpaid! I was shocked that not only he felt the need to call me out and yell across the restaurant but then proceeded to raise his voice at me. I came to the counter with my phone showing the double charge to him trying to explain that not only was my card not declined but that I was charged twice. I told him that there was no need to raise his voice and yell across the restaurant like I was some kind of deadbeat not paying my bill. The mistake was on his end, not mine. Instead of apologizing for his mistake, he then proceeded to attempt to belittle me in front of the restaurant saying I was being sensitive, still yelling at me as I returned to my table to finish my meal. He then said he didn't care what people thought, he knew everyone in the restaurant. I told him he was being rude and disengaged with the now very agitated owner. I finished my meal and cleaned my table and left. I have read what a great business this is and maybe the owner was having a bad day. Regardless of the circumstances, the owner of any business should never verbally attack a customer. This could've been handled in many different ways, but he chose to jump to conclusions rather than look at the facts and talk to his employees to find out what was really going on. He chose to treat a new customer like trash and even after realizing he was in the wrong, he chose to continue his verbal assault rather than man up and apologize. This is my first time visiting this business and the staff are awesome. I ordered the steak finger basket with onion rings. The first bite brought me back years the onion rings are great and just like they were made when I was a kid. The Steak fingers were delicious. I walked out feeling like I was a kid again. We are visiting from out of town, there are 2 Dairy Queen's in Mineral Wells. We went to the one on East Hubbard but the lobby was closed. I am so thankful we went to the one on N Oak!! I'm never disappointed here. The food quality is amazing and consistent, and the owners and workers (mostly family) are top notch. I believe every time I have eaten there and start to leave, I've been asked if everything was good. It's obvious they care about quality, it's obvious they want you satisfied. I've been going to the "little DQ" or "North Oak DQ" for decades and they never fail to deliver first-rate food, service and friendliness. Dine in or carry out - the quality is still the same. I guess they don't train their kids like every other employee. I have always supported this business as it is in my neighborhood and had always been my family's favorite. Everyone has always been friendly including the owners themselves, however today I pull into the drive through and was greeted by one of the owners daughter (who has personal differences with some of my family members) "you're really f*ing lucky my moms not here today, you have some real nerve coming here". I asked if she would like me to leave and she replied yes. Like I've said I've always been a customer, but I won't spend another dime. I really wish this didn't have to happen. Then they want to complain & be bitter about credit card processing charges, so they childishly hung a sign notifying the public that we, the customer, will incur the 3% cost of processing on top of our over-priced food. This store is filthy and only has one working toilet. After 20 minutes, we're still waiting for our food... So, we ordered blizzards while we're waiting. They made one of them wrong and it had peanut butter in it. (My wife is allergic to peanuts) No straws, no ketchup, and the staff is obviously frustrated as well. And... Here's our food! Eh. This place is clean, this place is a newer dairy queen. It's obvious. HOWEVER it cost me nearly $5.00 for a small sweet tea and a large order of fries. Ridiculous in my opinion. Not only that, the staff seemed..well not exactly UN friendly but not exactly hospitable either. And it took 10 minutes to get an order of regular fries at 3PM whilst it was very unbusy.
