My daughter was OBSESSED with Dairy Queen when she was a toddler. The first time we took her there was because my son wanted an ice cream cone for himself (drive-thru). After that, whenever we drove near a Dairy Queen, she assumed that we would know what to do. As soon as we passed Dairy Queen on the way to another place she would throw her little tantrum because it turned out that she was testing us. We had to turn back around to get her vanilla ice cream cone for the day. We later avoided that same road for future car rides, but she still managed to find the Dairy Queen COUPONS (flyer) that arrived with the mail. And she would point at the ice cream that she wanted. Oh well!!! Out of sight does NOT always mean out of mind. This location has a LIMITED menu (mostly hot dogs), so I am hoping that they will expand on that someday. We recently went to the Dairy Queen "Grill" in Oceanside (dine-in), and they have the full menu (variety of burgers, etc). We stayed in Oceanside for three weeks (Camp Pendleton), so we thought why not. By the way, Dairy Queen Grill in Oceanside does NOT have a drive-thru and it is ONLY street parking for this restaurant. On the plus side, it is a short walking distance to the beach/pier. This was a horrible experience at Dairy Queen. I've gone to this location for years never again. Worst experience ever. I was buying a cake for my nephew. There were no Oreo ice cream cakes, which is fine. A man ahead of me was ordering and asked for an Oreo cake. Alexis, who was assisting, said, "Don't worry, I can make you one fresh." I told her I would like one too, and she said yes very nice young lady. As I was getting rung up, Kayla, who is supposed to be a manager, stepped in. I honestly don't know how she is in that position because her customer service was the worst. She asked what I wanted, and I told her I was waiting for an Oreo cake. She said, "No, you're not we're out." I explained that they were making me one. She said no and that she was about to clock out, then went to the back and started yelling at Alexis, who had been kind enough to offer to make the cakes. She told her she should have just said no and not make them. I couldn't believe my ears. She continued saying which made me feel so uncomfortable I have never experienced something like this . She came back to the front and said, very rudely and distastefully, that in the future we can only get what is already out and that they were only letting this happen this one time. Best chilli dog? No, of course not but with the 2 dogs I got stuffed and didn't even touch the chips. We asked try scanning a few more times and it finally worked. 4. When we got the food one of the hot dogs didn't have the cheese or chili on it. When we took it back, we were told by the manager the she didn't make our food and that we had to talk to the person who took our order. By this time there was a long line at the counter and the person who took our order wasn't available to us for another few minutes even though the manager and 3 other people were free. To top it off, the hot dog came out of a microwave 5. I felt bad for the group of CAL firefighters and the 6 other people that came in begging them. One of the young ladies that was helping me in the drive-through window was completely rude to me, and rolled her eyes about every time I asked a simple question. I got a gift card for my birthday and it had $20 on it. I had just took it out of the birthday card. It had never been used. I had just ordered a cone and a medium size blizzard - when I got to the window and gave her the gift card. She said I still owed about eight dollars. Which was a surprise to me considering the gift card had $20 on it and it had never been used. However, I still paid and I asked politely for my gift card back that way I could look up the balance when I got home and see what happened since it had never been used before. I wish I could give zero stars! I just paid $20 bucks for a bag of a dozen dilly bars. I'm used to that; I get them all the time--but NEVER at this one again! The shorted me at LEAST an ounce of ice cream in each dilly bar, so they were 3/4 size at best. The dip was inconsistent as though they did not stir it while making them. (I used to work at a Dairy Queen). All of the bars had smooshed curls and most were cracked badly. I seriously want my money back! I'm adding photos of a normal size chocolate dilly bar and the cheap cheater cherry dilly bars I received. This photo doesn't show the inconsistency in the dip. Trust me on that. They didn't stir. Instead of one person taking all orders and then the rest filling the orders, each worker who takes your order and fills it. There was about 10 people in line.
