I usually enjoy DQ. DQ is a mainstay of Texas small towns, one of the first chains to establish a presence before any of the other fast food competition. They have some tasty options on the menu. This particular DQ restaurant's building has been recently updated, so my hopes were high. But this visit was a disappointment. The service was very slow and the employees unengaged - no friendly smile nor positive interaction. Once someone came to the counter it seemed like they considered me an imposition rather than a valued customer. I ordered the three taco meal. Once it was ready, I immediately noticed the taco shells were barely filled. When I tasted it, the ground beef tasted way overcooked like they had burned it and were scraping the bottom of the pan. I was hungry, so I ate it anyway and left. To their credit, the tables were clean. There were other customers, locals, who seemed content. There was a line of about 10 cars waiting in the drive through - so apparently they do pretty good business. I would hope my experience was an anomaly and not the usual. Still, next time I'm in town, I will probably go somewhere else. read more

The one thing that a Dairy Queen should get right is their ice cream. After all it is what they are famous for. I swear no one has taught their employees how to properly dip a cone so two things happen; it drips all over and you don't the right balance of chocolate dip and ice cream. I know this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but when you are DQ - please learn how to dip a cone! I used to do it. It's not hard! Dip the entire ice cream up to and including the rim of the cone so it is complete covered and no paper thin. read more

Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and got charged for a bacon cheeseburger, so i ask what's missing here? The bacon. I repeated the order three times but i should have known better. The worst experience ever, Ms. Kayla García, kept my American Express card in her possession, I only retrieved it because I made her hand it over, then I was called a stupid ass bitch by this employee. Super unprofessional atmosphere she was texting the entire time on her personal phone. I took a picture of her she texted at least 10/15 minutes while I spoke with the manager on duty about her actions. I know the manager saw her and was wondering unaware she had my card. Sadly the DQ I grew up with in Texas has died. Out of peanuts so couldn't complete their featured blizzard; the drumbstick. Waited in like 20 minutes. My Mud Slide was a fail. Chunked it; glad i did. Back to the flight fight line tomorrow night. read more

I've loved Dairy Queen for as long as I can remember - went with my parents as a kid only for "special occasions" cause we didn't have that much money at the time. And my dream as a five-year old was to have a birthday party at DQ, but unfortunately that never happened. So I think I re-live that dream every time I go home to Texas to visit my family. So my review might be skewed cause of that. They used to have these mini-dipped cones in a tiny cup they called a "DQ kiss" that cost 10 cents, so I'd save up and get a few of them as a kid; and used to have cherry-dipped comes as well, but those are long gone unfortunately. So, my favorites now are the chocolate dipped cone, the tropical blizzard (pineapple, banana, coconut and pecans), the fried steak fingers (which I don't think they have anymore) as well as the Dude sandwich or Hungrbuster with Jalitos (fried jalapeño strips) on top. But overall, I just like to go for the dipped cone, which 99% of my review is based on, and DQ will always hold a special place in my heart because of that. read more

Went to get a burger and the patty looked like it came from an anemic cow. It was supposed to be a quarter pound patty, but was clearly not. The bun was twice as big as the patty and was a bit over cooked. Man does not live on bread alone. You'll get a bigger better burger at burger king or Sonics for the same price, or cheaper. read more

It is a DQ. The drive through seemed to be the best bet, at least things were moving. The wife went in for two blizzards and it took (and no I am not pulling anyone chain) 20 minutes. They seem to focus their resources to the drive through assuming that the folks in side are a captured audience. All of that being said, that is just poor management. It's Dairy Queen what more do you need to know. Well, for one thing, they advertise free wifi on Yelp but when you ask for the password, the dude at the counter was like "I don't know it" (read: here's your ice cream, what more do I have to do to get you out of my line). Seriously one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I've had in my stay in Del Rio. Save yourself the bullshit and just go to Sonic. read more

Very slow service. I'm currently waiting on my to go order on the other side of the building by the double doors. As they usually get the order wrong, I'd like to check my order. However, once they hand me my order, I'm sure they'll run right back inside. So then, if it's wrong, I'll have to go back in. Mind you, I just ordered numbered items off the menu. Nothing special. My dad, his gf and I ordered our burgers a bit different from eachother (mine no onions dads with no mustard) when she brought out or food she placed in on the edge of the table and then just turned to leave. 4 stars because they need to fix speaker. I said my order with only 2 things a coke and a dip cone. They could nit hear me. I asked my husband to speak to them through The speaker. Still couldn't answer. Then I asked my daughter to speak. They still couldn't hear us. We ended up pulling up to the window. Great service! That's my only complaint. read more

I do give good reviews when I receive good service but the employees seemed more interested in chatting with each other than taking and filling orders. Think it was the manager who took order and then we waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally 3 sundaes were brought to us in a semi melted state. Had to go to counter to get cone that we ordered. 'manager' said we hadn't paid but finally looked at board with orders and saw that it had been ordered and paid for. Disappointed in this particular DQ and will never return....but the manager probably doesn't care anyway. would have liked to have given zero stars as they don't deserve even one star. read more

We ordered, paid and sat down with the understanding that our order would be brought to us. 20 minutes later, everyone who had ordered after us was served. We had a simple order of tenders, drinks and ice cream cones. I waited at the counter and the woman taking orders ignored me until it was obvious I had an issue. Then she and the young man behind the counter acted as if they'd searched the restaurant and couldn't find is. They almost made it sound like it was OUR fault.
