The ice cream menu is right above the order window, and espying Pistachio, I ordered from smiling friendly counter help a single scoop of Pistachio in a cup. My oh my, this was the best pistachio ice cream I've ever tucked away. This smooth ice cream had a pronounced pleasant pistachio flavor and plenty of pieces of pistachio as well. For the price, I thought the serving size was quite reasonable. Yes, I will be back.

The Hilltop Wegman's has a few things going for it…read more I can tell you that they have a very good wine section, even including a few organic (no added sulfites) vinos. Wegman's also has excellent meat and seafood sections. The bakery is impressive. And one thing they have improved since we first shopped here five years ago is that they have toned down the blasting music that used to make us want to get fast out of Wegman's. The hot foods section used to be pretty good, but now it has shriveled down to next to nothing, The take-home pre-prepared meals, while very good in quality, are exorbitant. Plan on spending $16-$18 for a simple meal, which is as much as you would pay in a restaurant for the same stuff. While they have an abundance of self-check stations, Wegman's doesn't let you get cash back, like you can at Safeway. The self-check stations can be persnickety. Today, I encountered one machine claiming I had put an unchecked item in the bagging item before I had even started scanning my stuff. Yikes! But what I really don't like is how Wegman's does bagging. The Virginia legislature in 2022 passed a law allowing grocery stores to collect from customers 5¢ for each plastic bag used. Wegman's has completely done away with plastic bags, yet Wegman's but takes advantage of that law to charge 5¢ for each paper bag. The icing on the cake is their paper sacks do not even have handles.

My order of choice is the Blendini, which combines custard, Italian ice, and mix-ins into one glorious little cup of excess. Quite frankly, why choose one dessert when you can have several at once? The variety is part of the fun. They have loads of Italian ice and custard flavours to choose from, so there is always some new combination calling my name. The custard is wonderfully creamy, the ice is refreshing, and together they make a very convincing argument for frequent return visits. Everyone working here has always been nice and welcoming, which makes the experience even sweeter. It is an easy, casual neighbourhood stop that consistently delivers exactly what I want. A thoroughly delightful little treat and one I will continue visiting with absolutely no restraint.

I wanted to find out what the Cotton Candy and Peach Custard Icecream tasted like, but this isn't an option. Only the flavored ice has the option of sampling them. I decided to keep it simple and went with Vanilla Custard with Oreo Cookies and Caramel. The taste was wonderful and it certainly hit the spot. I don't remember the name of the manager at this store, but she certainly keeps this store clean. The ambience in the store have a nice welcoming feeling. The location of this store certainly attracts the attention of old and new clientele. Keep up the great work Ms. Manager or can I call you Calliope?

Waiting for my treat took a while because of a few other orders ahead, but when it came out I got a nicely swirled strawberry ice cream on a cone. The pink trim reminded me of a frozen yogurt spot back home. I enjoyed the ice cream on the picnic benches located outside on the side. There is a standing counter space to eat on inside, but I imagine during busier times between the line to order and the diners it could be crowded. The ice cream seemed to be popular. I saw two other guys leaving with their own tall swirls for the road. Johnny Mac's has a decent array of flavors, so I would come back if I'm back down here.
