We were about to hit up downtown to go check out some bars, but first we were in need of an ice cream fix. This was our first time in the area so we didn't know where anything was, but of course we pulled out our handy dandy Yelp app to find us a spot. Dairy King is your typical, small little ice cream stand, that has some pretty good ice cream. We got two different cups for about 4 bucks total. They have tons of flavors to choose from, along with Sundaes and other cool treats. The saddest thing about this business though is that it is in a sketcchhyyy area. I hardly even felt comfortable getting out of the car to go order. It seems to be a very run down side of town, and there were a couple people who walked right past us who seemed to be drugged out of their mind. To make matters worse, right after we got our ice cream I spotted a gigantic RAT running right by the place, nibbling at garbage on the ground. I can't really blame the business, but I was pretty disgusted by that. Maybe Dairy King is more for locals or people who know the area better, but I would prefer to try somewhere else the next time I am in Providence.

I randomly found this place…read morewhen doing a google search and based on their nearly perfect reviews, decided I had to give it a shot; I had a BIG FEELING I'd love it. It is located next to a school so traffic can be heavy depending on the time of day. I went around 5 pm and the weather wasn't great so not as much traffic and parking right in front. It is metered parking which is a downside but I believe there are side streets without the fee. I loved a lot of the details when I walked in such as the ice cream cone chairs along the wall, the art on the wall, the citrus colors all around, and a water station. The menu isn't very extensive, but | actually love this about them. Each flavor is very unique and when every flavor sounds and tastes good, a dozen options is perfectly fine. They also have it broken up into regular hard ice cream, dairy free ice cream, and sorbet. I couldn't decide on what I wanted but I was allowed to sample different ones before committing to one. They offer 4 different sizes: mini (golf ball scoop) - $4, scoop (baseball) -$6, half/half - $7, and double -$8. During my sampling session, I tried the horchata, thai tea, and dulce de leche. I ultimately opted for the dulce de leche because of its sweet, creamy, and intense caramel-like flavor. It almost tasted like a cold Werther's caramel melting in my mouth, so I needed more of it. However, I loved that the horchata had a strong cinnamon and vanilla presence with a hint of coconut since I do think the non-diary flavors are coconut milk based. The thai tea literally tasted like a frozen thai tea as it was milky but also the black tea undertone was there. I did not get to taste the london fog but I also heard it was a black tea flavor. Just based on internet pictures, it looks like the menu is constantly changing (some staple flavors don't seem to leave) and there are seasonal flavors. This motivates me to come back more often to see what treasures I come across. They had a few tables inside to enjoy your ice cream there. There were two people working so I did not wait much for my turn. They also do offer pints to go, but from what I could see only two flavors: cookies and cream and mango sticky rice.

I can be a little hesitant to try new flavors, but the staff is so friendly and always happy to offer samples, which makes deciding a lot easier. This time, I went with the Dulce de Leche, and it was incredible--the caramel was sooo good. They offer both dairy and non-dairy options, so there's something for everyone. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

The first time we went, we got our own, but we quickly realized it is better to share one because it is more than enough for two people and leaves you fully satisfied. One per person would be way too much. They have a great variety of delicious ice cream flavors and toppings, and I 100 percent recommend it. Location: The location itself is nice, clean, and modern. It is more of a grab and go spot, and while there is a parking section, it tends to be full. You can usually find street parking easily though. It is a nice location that has always looked clean and modern. It is a casual spot. Service: The service has always been great, friendly, fast, and full of personality. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and guests kept going back for more. What really set her apart, though, was the presentation. It wasn't just dessert--it felt like an experience. I used credit card, added in the tip and finished the transaction and was waiting for my ice-cream. They took my number and said if the transaction went through they will cancel, call me let me know. They called me that evening and told me the transaction went through and they cancelled the charges. I check my credit card transactions. Guess what... they only cancelled the ice-cream price. I needed some souvenirs and when I looked it up online, it took me to a bookstore that absolutely did not have any. The next store on the list was The Landing and I did not have high hopes, remembering that it was a boat rental place. Boy was I wrong. Admittedly, this place is where you book boat rentals/trips. That is true. We saw a small family book their trip that they were very excited about. However, there is a lot more going on here. This place also sells souvenirs and is a cafe. The souvenirs are great, a lot of art items that would be lovely for people. There were some decorated oysters I found to be so darn cute and beautifully painted. Unfortunately, the souvenirs I was looking for were magnets and t-shirts, which they don't have the biggest selection of but we did find these items and the people we gave them to enjoyed them a lot. We came by The Landing a second time to get a sweet treat as well. They have a large collection of dirty sodas on the menu and we enjoyed our drinks very much.
