This is a cozy joint that is worth a detour to visit if you are near Fairmont WV. We visited around noon on a summer Tuesday and they were busy. Lines about 10 people deep at both the outside window and the inside counter. The lines moved relatively quickly, but if your time is limited- I'd certainly avoid lunchtime. We ordered one of the daily specials- 2 hotdogs, fries, & a soda for $7 and some change. We also ordered the funnel cake sundae and a German chocolate avalanche. The food was all tasty- the fries with nacho cheese dip were a favorite for me (I do love fries!). The funnel cake- with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream was so yummy! It was the best combo of state fair food! The avalanche is a huge cup of ice cream (think DQ blizzard). Three of us ate all this food- and we left full and satisfied. I would say this- too many visits there might be a heart attack waiting to happen, but you'll go full and happy! So worth a visit- even if it's a bit of a detour. read more

Waited 40 minutes in line, food was overpriced (a single cheeseburger is almost $10), the only decent thing is the quality of soft serve for the price. They DO NOT give receipts and charge prices that are not on the menu. The only currency they take is cash. read more

I wish we lived around here so we could eat at dairy creme every day! We had a great visit with reasonably priced food and ice cream. Only 2 things kept me from giving this place a well earned 5. 1. 25 cent refills on fountain drinks. I hate that with a passion. Charge $3 or more for a drink and then nickle and dime over refills that cost practically nothing from a business standpoint, seriously!? 2. If you like ice cream then this is a place to get some! It's a seasonable place that takes Cash or a Local Check. What fun? I would totally pay with a check just to piss everyone off in line. And yes, the line can get long. They have food as well (I guess Ice cream IS technically food). Some of the options looked pretty good and I wish I knew that before stopping. I wouldn't have eaten 6 Sheetz tacos beforehand. I'm terrible and slow at eating ice cream, so I ordered a Pumpkin Pie Milkshake, which is seasonal in a seasonal place. It's like the Inception of ice cream items. It was a delicious milkshake for sure and I can eat it (drink it?) at my pace. Okay I'm really depressed over this trip to Dairy Queen Corner. I have been waiting to go here and finally got the chance on Thursday July 6th and I feel it was a waste of money and time. I was excited to try their Hot dogs because everyone that follows me on Yelp and Google knows I love my Hot Dogs! I was surprised they weren't busy and I passed Woodys and Att's to go here. I went inside instead of the window (which I liked by the way, them having old fashion walkup window service) I owent to counter but cashier was too busy on phone to take my order. 2 girls were talking behind her all huddled up but finally the younger of the 2 came over to ask if I needed help. She literally looked 12!!! I placed order for 2 Hot dogs with chili, slaw and onions and she charged me $6.56. I paid but was surprised because menu says 2 Hot Dogs for $3.99 so it should have been less than $5 I stood and waited for several minutes, took time to take some interior pics and she brought me a small brown bag. I thanked her and left. When I opened the bag I was horrified! See my pics!! Both Hot dogs were rolled up into one small pieces of white tissue style paper. (They should have been wrapped separately!!!!!!) NO NAPKINS, NO SALT OR PEPPER! So, I went back in. All the girls behind counter were out of sight. I wanted to return the thrown in messy Hot dogs and get refund. To go means usually you are driving...no one likes freaking messy food when driving! The weiner were boiled tasting but had good flavor. The chili was extremely bland so I'm very glad I went back dor salt and pepper...it was needed. The onions were sparsely on there and that slaw was horrible. I had to take it off my second Hot dog all together. The slaw was very wet and tasted old. It also tasted like old store bought Walmart deli Cole slaw. It was bad! I really want to give them another try and update this review with better news. Someone told me this place is called Almost Heaven. They were not kidding. This has one of these old time feels. Friday afternoon it was popping. Great atmosphere. There were so many people here but no long line. Staff very friendly. Now, I'm not sure how this place operates at a profit. Look at this ice cream. Back home this would cost $20. Even at the store a container itself would be 8$. The ice cream is soft served. Best ice cream I've had in some time. So many different flavors and so much. This was the standard size. read more

Not exactly sure what the big hype around this place is. Waited in line for 30-40 minutes and the people in the line were rude. The workers that took our order got it wrong twice. I got their equivalent of a Dairy queen blizzard with brownie. Icecream was the vanilla soct served and it wasnt creamy but icey and watery. The brownie was not a real brownie but one of those little Debbie cosmo brownies just broken up into pieces. Was not happy with the order at all. The only plus i can think of is that the portions are HUGE and the menu is very (probably too) extensive. Will not be going back there. read more

I had gone here before but did not estimate once again how big the sizes were. I ordered a medium soft serve and it came out quickly. I knew the sizes here were big but the medium was only 3 bucks (super good price most places charge 7 for a medium.) they passed it through the window and I involuntarily said oh no. It was 16 inches tall including the cone I couldn't possibly finish it it was 3.5 inches in diameter too. I had to get a cup for it and even then couldn't stop it from dripping it was so big . Wait time was about an hour for sunday afternoon. Three pros: Staff are very friendly and helpful. They were willing to fix things with some extra wait time Ambiance was relaxing, almost like eating at an amusement park with your friends. Great ice cream, but the wait can be very long depending on the day and time. They have a ton of options from soft serve, hand scooped, sundaes, shakes, etc. I guarantee everyone in your party will find something they love. The serving sizes are huge, so be prepared for that. One of my only stops in Fairmont will be to this ice cream stop. You get so much ice cream for what you pay. I always get a baby cone which is about 4 rings upside down in a cup with crunchies . It's about 3 bucks and is about a normal medium at other places. The pepperoni roll is delicious as well. It's about 9 or 10 inches and it get it with cheese and sauce . It's pretty reasonably priced. It's always always crowded, so please keep that in mind. It's worth the wait so try it !! I highly recommend it !! read more

Skip the big franchise joints and head over to DCC. This is a local legend with ice cream cones that may finish you before you finish it. They also have flavors that the big boys wouldn't take the time or effort to offer. I had an Avalanche which is like a Blizzard at the other place. My avalanche was mixed with Whatchamacallit candy bar pieces and it was phenomenal. They have what looked to be 50 flavor options or more. Don't sleep on the shakes or their hot food options.
