My husband had the melt & I had the Wild West burger. We shared an order of sweet potato fries. It was all delicious! My husband tasted my burger and decided to go get him some to put on his. We will be visiting again the next time we are in town.

Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, French Fries and Fried Pickles

Very tasty burgers! And the fries were amazing!!! We loved the service as well. Very friendly staff. We got our food very quickly. The only thing we didn't like was the fried pickles. My husband and I always order fried pickles wherever we go, but we felt these fried pickles were very bitter (especially the after-taste). We will have to come back for the shakes because we heard good things.

Chocolate Shake

Walk up to the window and treat yourself. This is a great place for grilled burgers and smooth shakes. It's a tiny place in the heart of the small town, staffed with smiling faces and good cooks. There was once a small indoor seating area, now due to COVID19, orders are to go only. Don't be discouraged, the food is made to order and will still be hot and fresh when you make it home, if you're staying in Red River. Food Review: Bacon Cheese Burger - grilled, well done with melted cheddar cheese, crispy bacon (they aren't stingy with the bacon), pickles, onions, lettuce and tomatoes is really good. It's a small burger but has a big taste. Yummy! French Fries - thick cut fries, fried to a golden crisp, seasoned with a sprinkle of salt and served hot. Delicious! Onion Rings - battered fried onions are just ok. They are a bit soggy and the batter slides off the onion easily. Wings - frozen to fried bite size nuggets, fried and smothered in Buffalo hot sauce. Just ok. Chocolate Strawberry Milkshake - creamy, smooth, sweet milkshake with a perfect blend of chocolate and strawberry flavors and bits of strawberry fruit, topped with whip cream and a cheery. Soooooooo Good! Visit www.tastebuddies.club for more useful reviews.

Hands down beat burger in Red River. This place has way better burgers and fries than the fancy new brewery down the street.

It isn't great, but it doesn't suck. Overall the prices were high for the quality of food.

Overcooked chicken sandwich, very dry, no flavor. No Dr.Pepper, and nasty instant sweet tea. It used to be a go-to place, but not now.

A change to try up to 6 freshly brewed ales! The downside was the time it took for someone to acknowledge me waiting to be seated and the price. $5 to add bacon to a $21 burger is a bit overpriced.

It was about a 15 minute wait to get a table on a very busy Saturday afternoon. I am bumping up my review since it was a dog-friendly restaurant. Our server, Arthur, graciously brought me more water for my dog and offered me a bowl even though I already had both. For starters I had a Whiskey Smash ($14.75). I enjoyed it. I sampled a taste from my brother's beer flight ($18). My mom's Desperado Mexi Lager also. They were mostly enjoyable. Red apple cider was probably something I would have on the front porch. For lunch I had the BBQ brisket sandwich ($12.50) with fries, pickles, and onions. They did not skimp on the meat. There was BBQ at the table which I added because the brisket was a bit flavorless. I chuckled when our server brought the mac and cheese out to my ultra picky nieces. He stated to my sister-in-law that it was in fact the Kraft-style mac, but it wasn't. I mean maybe he should learn what that means first of all. But second... Can you believe those kids are so picky that they didn't eat a single bite? Eight dollars per bowl with a side. Wow. My kids would starve the rest of the afternoon if their food smelled and tasted half way decent. Lol. I can almost hear the mutterings at my parenting style. Hey at least I drank my overpriced whiskey cocktail. Because our party was so large, automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our ticket. The women's restroom was small and mostly clean, but awkward entering and exiting with other women and girls crammed inside. I did not like how tables in our area were left untouched long after other patrons left. If I had my choice, I would probably opt for an alternative place next time. I was not that impressed by the staff's overall indifference to all the patrons. RATING BREAKDOWN (3 stars overall, bumped up because they were dog-friendly!) While in Red River, NM the Whiskey Bros happened upon a jewel of a restaurant. We were walking to…read morea certain planned destination but happened upon Brett's outdoor signage claiming to have prime rib. Prime rib, being what it is, instantly captivates the attention of any unassuming Whiskey Bro just as a flower captivates a bee. We were, as these things seem to happen, whisked into the restaurant on hopes and dreams that only sensual culinary satiation can provide. The let down that we experienced when the sweet waitress exclaimed that they were indeed out of their prime rib was an axe to our revived core. As culinary adventurism often requires, we determined that we would see things through. With a commitment to this ideal we would stay, order a bottle of red, and try to make the most of a bloody disaster. What followed provided shocks and surprises the wisest Whiskey Bro could never have hoped for. Often we must pull ourselves from the depths of a sensual culinary dive to gain a critical perch from which to judge a meal. We tried, but to no avail. The smorgasbord of steak, trout and lamb accompanied by various interestingly 'sauced' sides locked us into an olfactory journey only the best of critics could dissect. When we had the group realization that we could taste Key lime in the mushrooms our brains nearly exploded with awe. Everything before us was merely... complex and perfect. After the meal, our plates showing the magnitude of the destruction we laid upon them and us moaning after a battle hard won. Our kind waitress merely asked an otherwise unassuming question. "Dessert?" I don't exactly recall what the dessert was. Sensing our severe struggle with thinking in general, not to mention our limited capacity to merely communicate, our waitress ordered for us. She was so empathetic to our pain. It was a cake 'something' with ice cream. More than enough for three very large men. I only remember the frenzied attack that occurred after that first hesitant taste, the likes of which can be witnessed in zombie movies. If you are ever in Red River, New Mexico; or Taos, or anywhere in this corner of the world. Do yourself a favor and devote an evening to a serious exploration of Brett's Bistro. Like us, it may well set a new standard for your own culinary adventures.

I did have a local homemade dessert that was prepared by the staff.
