If you ride a motorcycle, you have the choice among many companies that sell motorcycle gear. Dainese is regarded as a premium brand for a good reason. Their products are extraordinarily well made, of high-quality and function as intended. In the past, I've had to order their merchandise online until I discovered this great store in Costa Mesa. I've been there twice and the staff is very friendly and eager to assist. All the staff members ride motorcycles and are very familiar with the gear and will help you find what you need. After a friendly greeting, they will offer you a refreshment. They also have plastic bags that you can wear like a backpack to take merchandise home. Today, I bought some new boots and they offered to mail my old boots back to me since I was unable to carry them. This place is a freakin' candy store! Jackets, all kinds of riding pants, boots, liners, ETC. it's definitely worth stopping by if you need any gear. Dainese products cost a bit more but they are an industry leader. Check it out. Husband and myself traveled from the valley down to the OC for the purpose of pursuing one of this store's sales. Now, I don't typically ride; my husband is the biker of the family. I will, occasionally, borrow his extra gear and go 2-up. I was not expecting to purchase gear for myself. But there I stood in the lovely store, in front of gear I had long admired. The women's section is not huge, but let's set things straight about women's motorcycling- most sections are very small. If you want high quality, and when it comes to your ass hitting pavement I will always side with the highest quality, you probably want Dainese. And if you want Dainese, you better come to one of their own stores. The style you want not in your size? Wrong color? Free shipping to you. Lucky for me, I walked away with a shiny new set of matching jacket, gloves, and boots. None (or very little) of the women's gear was on sale, unfortunately. The gear my husband purchased was. Everything was sized perfectly (I am a very average size, I do admit) and my husband had no trouble either. Aaron, the gentleman who helped us (for probably about an hour or two) was kind, talkative, extremely helpful, and generally everything a salesperson should be. The D-Store is one of the coolest stores ever for motorcycle gear. It's obviously the highest quality you can find. They have a very good selection of different jackets, suits, gloves, helmets, boots, etc. It's not cheap, but it's a whole lot cheaper than a trip to the hospital if you crash. I go there every few months just to look around and see the new stuff. Very friendly and knowledgeable people work there too. There's usually a couple of motorcycles parked in front, it's obvious the people that work there also ride motorcycles. My Dainese jacket is a few years old but still looks great, and makes me feel a little safer when I'm riding. read more

I was recently involved in a crash and my gear was all torn up. I decided on stopping by the Costa Mesa store since I often work in LA and commute home to N San Diego County. I had a rough idea of what I wanted before I arrived but no idea on sizing and was open to guidance from someone who knew the gear/suits inside and out. Upon entering the store I was greeted fairly quickly by Armen who was able to point me in the right direction by listening to my needs and getting me fitted for the proper sized suit. He was a huge help in my decision and although the store no longer carried the suit that I wanted he was able to direct me to a distributor of Dainese equipment that still carried the outgoing equipment that I needed. He was honestly there to help me in my decision making process and assist me in getting the gear that I need for my style of riding and it was extremely refreshing to have a sales rep treat me in this way instead of just looking for a sale. I would HIGHLY recommend visiting this store if you are interested in Dainese equipment as they had a large selection and an extremely helpful sales rep. If you go to visit the store definitely ask for Armen's help/expertise in their products for a 5-star worthy experience. read more

In April, 2017, I bought a one-piece suit, a back protector, and a pair of boots. The suit and back protector were great fits for me, but after wearing the boots around my house for a couple hours, I realized I simply didn't like the way they felt. I took them back to exchange them, explaining that fitment was the issue. The associate handling the transaction, an older gentleman, very condescendingly asked me, "Have you ever worn motorcycle boots?" The answer to him was and is "yes." It left a VERY bad taste in my mouth, having to defend my dislike of the boots, especially because I feel strongly his question was premised on my gender. I am 99.9% I would not have been asked that if I were a man. Lastly, even if I hadn't ever worn motorcycle boots, the implication is that I should have dealt with being unhappy with fitment because I wouldn't have known any better. 2- Star rating based on service alone. read more

Dont buy a helmet from this store. By far the worst store policy. I bought an AGV corsa helmet for over $800 and was told that I couldnt return it. I wore it around my house and realized the next day it didnt fit right. Not once did anyone did anyone mention That it was not returnable. I even asked to return it for store credit to purchase something else. I get that its for saftey but it would be nice to let your customers know before a purchase. Literally brand new only worn in the house for a day. They wont even inspect it or bother. Im never coming back here for gear. Some of the guys are a little pushy on sales and really dont care about customer service. They just care about the money. read more

I call them as I see them, and bottom line, these guys were GREAT! I have so much to say but I'll try to be brief. I shopped around all the other brands at other stores and had heard good things from my rider friends about the Dainese brand (still have problems pronouncing it). The only problem was DelAmo Motorsports, who are ALSO great (that'll be my next review) didn't carry them, so I had to go all the way to Costa Mesa as it is Dainese's flagship store in Southern California. Anyhoo so I drove down on a Saturday morning and it took me over an hour to get their from the Westside, but let me tell you it was worth the drive. First off, I had originally spoken to Corey on the phone who was really cool but upon my arrival Tom & Joe spent the majority of the time helping me. For the record guys, I am a new rider, and as such, needed some education on jackets. I had spoken to friends, looked at reviews, and basically done my homework, but still needed KNOWLEDGEABLE guidance! Upon my entrance I immediately warned them that I was going to be a bit high maintenance seeing this was my 1st motorcycle jacket, and I REALLY wanted to get it right! Plus the quality ones ain't cheap so this was a big investment in money, safety, comfort (plus I of course wanted a good looking jacket too). And with these jackets it ain't like the Gap where you can just take it back after you wear it once, ya know so ya gotta get it right! So in the spirit of not writing too long of a story the bottom line was I was there for over 2 hours, going back and forth, back and forth....from 1 jacket to another, and back again. Leather vs leather perforated. Leather vs solid textile. Solid textile vs. mesh. Pros and cons, differences, body armor, ventilation, personal experience, etc, etc... These guys broke down the details and helped e out greatly in my comparisons. AND NEVER TRIED TO "SELL ME ANYTHING". I apologized literally like 3 or 4 times for maybe repeating the same questions, taking too much of their time, maybe being a pain in the neck customer. They honestly and sincerely said NO PROBLEM... Or THAT'S WHY I'M HERE..... Or I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT JACKET AND ARE HAPPY!. And I could tell it wasn't just lip service. They were very sincere. At the end of the day I bought the Racer perforated leather jacket and wore it today for the first time. Very happy with it. Sorry if I rambled but I wanted everyone to know what a GREAT store this is, and what GREAT employees they have. TOM and Joe, THANK YOU so much again for not only your TRULY OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE, but also for your keen product knowledge, your PATIENCE, and most of all - you're giving a shit about making sure the customer is happy! So my wife's been in need of some leathers for quite some time and since we were on a family trip to SoCal (NorCal FTW lol) We made sure that this would be one of our stops. After our event at Disneyland, we decided to head down and the place isn't as what I'd expect since I was wowed by the store up in San Francisco. I'd thought this would be the same. Store was very dark, how did they expect me to see what I'm looking for? And also since it was a day after black friday sales, I'd thought they'd have more things on sale. NOPE. Not a single thing was on sale for any items on the women side for my wife. Not even any clearance items for women gear. Quite disappointed. They suggested either I come back or look up online how to knock one of these things off. I was kinda pissed. I've been to the D-store a few times over the years. I believe in 2010, the Missus and I had the opportunity to interview 4-time 250cc grand prix champion/2-time WSB champion Max Biaggi at the D-store. It was our first time interviewing a legendary racer like Max, so we had a bit of the nerves in us. We asked him a few questions and wished him good luck with the rest of the season. It was great because he ended up winning his first WSB title that year aboard the Aprilia RSV-4. Most recently at the D-store, I had the chance to watch the 2nd MotoGP round at Austin. There were some technical difficulties with the live streaming, but the manager, Tom, did his best to iron out the wrinkles. Snacks, beverages, surrounded by amazing riding/racing gear, and a MotoGP race to boot. Not too much about which to complain. I would definitely come down here for another MotoGP event even though Costa Mesa is a bit of a drive for me. In the future, I would like to suggest some BBQ action. That usually makes people happy, as well as putting them in a better mood to buy some sweet gear. read more

We couldn't find shirts in our size as we were browsing but one of the employees mentioned that sometimes not all the shirt sizes are on display. If you're lucky enough to possess a mesomorphic body, you're going to love wearing Dainese. I started riding in January, and was looking for a decent set of gear. Went to Cycle Gear around my house, but the customer service there was mediocre. That's not what I felt when I walked into the D-Store. Once I stepped in, an employee by the name of Corey greeted me and asked if I needed any help. I was just looking around, so I declined the offer. Because Kim had told me the night before that they were having a sale to fundraise for a fallen rider, they had DISGUSTING deals going on. There were jackets being sold at 30-50% off! That's unheard of for a store like Dainese. As soon as I picked out the three jackets that I were considering, I asked Corey for help regarding sizing. He and other employees answered all my newb questions regardless of how stupid they were. I ended up walking away with a Newsan leather jacket for $200 less than MSRP. If you're looking for new gear, and in LA or Orange county, I'd highly recommend you drop by the Dainese Store. Its large, well designed, and attractive, with employees that aren't pushy and will answer your questions. Just be mindful of your wallet. The smell of newly purchased leather. Who doesn't love the smell of a new leather jacket? LOL. This place is a small haven to riders who swear by this brand, and I can see why, their stuff is quite top notch and the style is appropriate for both female and male whereas some companies often forget that there are female riders out there who prefer a more feminine flavor to their riding gear. Plenty of selections and a great variety of sizes, most if not all usually have a base color of black and white. They sometimes also have a clearance section that has stuff on sale if you catch them on a good day. I also fancied a lot their tank top selections, but faring at $30.00 a piece, the price was a little hefty. It's a great place to buy track suits and regular riding gear. :) read more

Dainese, pronouced( die-knee-say) I went in to get some new riding gear. A pair of armoured undies. (gotta protect my ass and the fellas) and some armoured knee/shin guards. It is a nice looking store, with pretty much everything that the Dainese name is attached to short of a living breathing Valentino Rossi. The staff was friendly and some seem to be riders themselves. As I am bigger than the average bear, so I shy away from one piece leathers, but they have those in stock to try on too. Once all these recent nights spent running get me back into fighting shape I'll try squeezing into them. But for now the stuffed sausage look is just not for me. One thing can be said of Dainese...it ain't cheap. While I'm not known as the thriftiest of cats, 60 bucks for a Laguna Seca or Donnington Park t-shirt is a bit much for this suave mofo. read more

Great looking store and very friendly staff. I was there shopping around for a new riding jacket and gloves. They also sell AGV helmets here, but I'm pretty set with my Shoei helmet. If you're familiar with Dainese gear, you'll know that the goods don't come cheap. It's excellent quality gear, though. Definitely worth the loot if you can spare it. Excellent store! Dainese is world renowned as some of the best gear you can buy. So many MotoGP and World Superbike Riders can't be wrong. It's a perfect combination of form and function. It will protect you as good or better than anything else on the market and keep you stylish at the same time. I've only been to the D-Store in the O.C. once and I just happened to be in the area about a week away from taking my basic rider course. As a new rider, the salespeople treated me like I had been a 20 year customer. I was shown several items from jackets, to suits to gloves and offered a water or energy drink while I shopped. Unfortunately the stores don't always carry the largest sizes Dainese makes and I tend to have a beer gut. One of the salespeople said they were trying to work on getting more of the larger sizes in stock. He said, whenever the big sizes come in people snatch them right up. I ended up having to order my size 64 Dainese Racing D1 Pelle jacket from a D-Store in Germany. (Highly recommended jacket by the way) However the O.C. store had an excellent selection of AGV helmets and the salesperson helped me try several on and explained all about how helmets are supposed to fit for maximum protection. I have been riding for months now in my AGV that I bought at the D-Store and it's a great lid. Really looking forward to my next visit! Avoid their custom suit program at all costs. They charge more than 2X other available custom suit makers e.g. ACT, Pilot, PLUS yet are extremely difficult to work with. I have been trying to order a custom suit based off the "Team" model for 6 months. The fitment date kept sliding from Sept to Oct to Nov and finally December. They made me pay a $100 deposit just to get an appointment to get fitted and assured me they could do a suit based on the "Team" model. After taking my deposit they called and said the program changed, they'd no longer make a custom suit off that model, and tried to talk me into other even more expensive suits. There are no special parts or construction techniques in the Team suit. It just sheer laziness and a "the customer is always wrong" attitude on their part. read more

I must say that I feel extremely fortunate that one of the three Dainese stores in the US is located so close to me. Hooray SoCal! However, I also must say that it is very unfair that only a select few can easily make it to one of the stores, since properly fitting protective gear is extremely important and being able to try stuff on is extremely valuable. That said, this store is amazing. The gear is amazing. Seriously mind-blowing. For someone like me, who is very slim and has always had trouble with terrible fitment of bigger, traditional American-styled clothing, coming here where they have all manner of sizes, from teeny-tiny, how-could-anyone-fit-in-that stuff to big, enormous garments, and trying on things that feel like they were custom-made for me... that is amazing. The store carries most of their jackets, many of their pants, some one-piece suits I think, helmets, gloves, boots, etc. They've got an Aprilia and some cruiser in the store so you can see how the stuff would feel sitting on a sportbike or a cruiser. The quality of the gear is amazing - you can tell they pay attention to lots of tiny details. Just the way everything fits is a testament to the quality, thought and care put into it. Dainese is a precision tool; most other riding gear is a big hammer. It's easier to make a hammer, but the precision tool will do its job with much less uncertainty (Will my armor stay in place? Will the material hold up to an 80 mph slide?) I have read of people wrecking 3-4 times in the same Dainese (leather) jackets and still wearing them. Also, the service of everyone in the store was absolutely fantastic. Everyone tried to help me when I asked for it, and left me alone while I pondered and tried on stuff. I was in there for over an hour a few weeks ago and no one was bothered at all - they simply wanted me to be happy and find something that was right for me. Dainese stuff is EXPENSIVE. But, as is so often the case in life, you very much get what you pay for. My life is worth $600, which is why I will be buying one of their jackets and not a lesser brand's. The placement of the armor, the quality of the armor, the appearance and style and coolness and everything cannot be matched by anything I've seen, tried on, or imagined. It's that good. So if you're in the area, come by here and try some stuff on. Fall in love, accept that you'll have to spend money to save your life if the need arises. If I meet asphalt at 80 mph, there is nothing I'd rather be wearing than Dainese. read more

Sure the prices are sky high but do you want to literally trust your hide on gear that are barely stitched together properly? Once in a blue moon bargains can be had here, but typically they are in oddball sizes like XS or XXL. read more

5 Star Service & Selection. I just got my first motorcycle and was looking for a jacket to keep me safe while riding. After looking at a few lower end brands and not liking what they offered, I took a ride down to Dainese to find a good jacket. This place has everything!!! Boots, gloves, jackets, full race suits, pants, the works!!! This is HIGH END stuff. Some people say its expensive, but its much higher quality that the cheap stuff. This stuff is made to last and be comfortable. The salesperson greeted me right away. I told him I wanted a summer jacket and he helped me pick the right size and fit for my riding. They have a huge selection so I was able to pick just the right jacket for me. After I selected the right size and style, they let me sit on a Ducati to see if it felt good for me. I loved it!!! They even lowered the jacket price cause I took the Motorcycle safety course. As far as the jacket, I love it!!! I have been riding with it for a month now and am 100% satisfied. This store is great. The store has great selection and pretty much have everything Dainese carries in stock or they will order it for you. I was pretty damn happy that they have a store around me since there's only two locations in California. I picked up a nice leather jacket from here and I can remember the lady behind me stating "that's the price of my thailand trip". SO YES! The gears are expensive but what can you expect from one of the highest quality motorcycle protective gears? By the way, the leather jacket fits so well it feels like it was tailored.
