I ended up getting a blueberry scone and an iced cafe latte. I think each one was like NZ$7. The scone itself was a big size with lots of berries inside. I like that it came with some butter on the side. They warmed it up and so I used some of the butter and it was delish. It had a slight crust and was chewy on the inside. My iced latte was okay as I wish it had a stronger coffee flavor. They do offer a bunch of baked goods that look scrumptious and wanted to try more.

After an easy mid-morning hike around Mount Eden or Maungawhau and drive around its vibrant and…read morehistoric neighborhoods, our NZ local friends (Geoffrey and Margaret) suggested grabbing coffee and snacks at Frasers. Our friends have enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service at Frasers many times before with their other friends during weekends so they were familiar with the neighborhood. The streets were narrow, so street parking was limited; we opted to park in one of the nearby paid parking lots. This charming neighborhood evolved from its 19th-century European colonial farming and flour mills to today's commercial center on Mt Eden Road. The narrow streets of this area showed its transition from a horse-drawn bus route for business people and residents to the introduction of the electric tramway. Also, the buildings that had been built during the late 19th century now have new businesses in them, which maintain the historical vintage appearance. Walking into Frasers, we were comforted by its retro-modern coffeehouse interior and a host immediately greeted us to seat our group. The host provided us with menus and also encouraged us to take a peek at their freshly made in-house pastries. It was good to see such a varied assortment of savory and sweet products, which we all agreed would complement hot coffee beverages. Our server/host was friendly and quite expressive while describing the menu items. We placed our food and beverage orders with him, and within a few minutes, he brought us perfectly brewed coffee beverages, two at a time, from the barista. Meanwhile, because we had requested that some of our pastries be heated, he delivered them after serving the coffee. The coffee beverages were served at a perfect temperature and complemented our snack selections. We were impressed by the friendly and efficient service, the flavors and textures of the pastries we tried, and the value. However, the noise level in this coffee house seemed a bit loud, especially with the music playing, and there were times during our coffee break when our friends or we couldn't hear the entire conversation at the table without raising our voices. Still, we'd happily return if we come back to Auckland. 4.4-stars

If you choose to sit outside (and I really prefer it), they have fleece blankets to ward off the cold. So cute! There is free wifi, the coffees are really good, and they have a $6 coffee & slice deal. I just tried their waffles for the first time this weekend, and they were so, so good. But very large, so I'd suggest sharing! The waitresses are always lovely and friendly, and they're always playing piano versions of anime songs, which is an adorable quirk. Few things make me happier than good coffee, sweet treats and listening to the My Neighbour Totoro theme song!

The internet is fast and works well outside in the courtyard, which is a nice place to sit on a good day (can be a bit breezy though). I didn't get any food, but the girls next to me got a waffle with a huge amount of whipped cream on it with berry sauce, which made me get quite substantial food envy. Nice chilled acoustic music plays in the background, and is quite audible outside as there is an outside speaker. When it is too sunny or raining, they put up a cover over the courtyard, so you can still enjoy your coffee in the atmospheric, cobblestoned space outside without getting too hot or rained on.

The Servo Cafe was my first introduction to the beauty of the food of the wild West. When I lived in Waterview, I was proud to call Servo's my local. A couple of minutes along the motorway was a small price to pay for the best brunch in Auckland. I was introduced to it by a vegetarian friend who raved about the breakfasts. With Roasted Addiqtion being her benchmark, this Westie cafe must be pretty sharp! Now it is on my must do list of Auckland - yes, it's THAT good. Housed in an adapted service station on the corner of 2 roads (hence the name), Servo's does cabinet food, licensed drinks, pizza & a great selection of classic brunch & lunch dishes, with a few innovative takes on the average Auckland brunch menu. My ultimate fave; the dish that keeps me coming back for more; my recommendation for those new to Servo's delights - Golden Smoked Kahawai & Herbed Potato Cake w-Servo Hollandaise, Poached Free Range Egg & Spinach. And in my opinion, it's even better with a side of bacon!! My vego mate salivates over the Vegetarian Kiwi Breakfast: Free Range eggs cooked to your liking, Grilled Tomato, Field Mushrooms, Servo Hash Browns, Spinach & Toast. Yumarama! The meat lover's version of this also lives up to it's reputation. Servo's hash browns are a legend unto themselves: golden, deep-fried spoonfuls of homemade goodness. No McCain's frozen rubbish here thank you very much. To be honest, this place is so good, I've been here enough times to sample almost the entire menu. The pizzas are amazing, the Portobello Mushroom breakfast served on Brioche will blow your mind, and Eggs Benedict connoisseurs I've taken here have drooled at the mouth. And the corn fritters are pretty damn good too. If brunch doesn't grab you - as I said, the pizzas are great, and the Caesar Salad & Calamari Salad would rival some of Auckland's fine dining establishments.

When the mango smoothie came out it was white, I took a sip and had to double check my order wasn't wrong but the server confirmed it was mango. I'm really sorry but there must have been 2 small pieces of mango blitzed up with 99% vanilla ice cream cause I only got the faintest of a taste on one or two of the sips. Not sure about their other smoothies but certainly don't get mango expecting anything.. The sausage roll had potential but the 'flaky' puff pastry was soggy and soft like the $2 ones you heat in the microwave. Nothing like the flakey delight of a double sized hearty sausage roll you usually get. Our server was lovely and friendly however, no problems there at all. And I hate feeling "harsh" but also I don't like getting disappointing food, sorry team. This place is adequate if you're hungry but not to indulge in I would say.
