I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen for months, so we decided on an out-of-the-way location to grab breakfast & have a catch-up, not too busy but with good food & great coffee. The Artisan does both, more than adequately.
Situated in what I'd describe as an industrial area, it has a big car park (with two entrances - one off Wiri Station Rd, the other off Plunket Ave), so parking is not a problem. I arrived before my friend, at 7.30am (opening time on a Saturday),so grabbed an apple juice from the chiller to slurp on while waiting for him. As I did so, I started gawking at the extensive selection of food available from the display cabinet. Everything looked fresh & very enticing, the slice of chocolate gateaux had me drooling (this happens regularly), & I swore I would order it as an after with coffee.
There is a large blackboard menu on the wall behind the service counter listing a selection of meals available from the kitchen however a printed menu was presented to the table prior to ordering.
My potato cake & mushrooms were stunning - the side of bacon superfluous as I couldn't eat it all of my meal. This meal was absolutely delicious. My friend had the Artisan Big Breakfast - & it was! He claimed he was hungry but still had trouble finishing his meal. We both agreed the meals were outstanding & our waitress friendly & chatty without being intrusive. A great morning indeed - although I never did order that gateaux. I'll do so on my next visit! read more
