This little cafe is beautiful, such a warm and kind welcome by the team here, what a difference it makes when you feel so welcomed. The cafe is attached to the hotel but do not worry about this, enter the hotel and turn left and a warm friendly welcome will be waiting for you. I had the breakfast muffin which they warm up for you and a decaf coffee, the decaf was absolutely delicious and if you get the table by the window it's a perfect little place to watch the world go by. Also a few tables and chair outside the entrance too.

Best caramel macchiato I've ever had!!

Don't be put off by the tiny cafe, there are seating areas inside the hotel and the staff is helpful in directing you to other areas in the hotel lobby. We went there this morning after calling to confirm it was open due to a bad link for their website. It's in the lobby of the Auckland City hotel, and there is a walk up window for takeaway. They have a small, but more than adequate hot food menu, as well as a large pastry case and sandwiches. It was a pretty perfect first breakfast in Aukland thanks to the best caramel macchiato I've ever had and very friendly service.

Delicious Carmel macchiato and cafe mocha.

One of our best coffees this year for sure. The workers are very friendly and speak as many languages as DuoLingo offers courses. Ha! The cafe mocha I had was the real deal and tasted so good I really almost pulled the trigger on a second one, but with that much caffeine, I could have flown myself to our next destination. The quiche was also very good and helped us get back to normal after the long flight. The space itself is tiny/cozy so you might have to carry out your order. We were fortunate to have a table and ended up having a pleasant conversation with some travelers from Armenia. All in all, a great spot for coffee, tea, and breakfast/brunch spot. We would love to return to Auckland and certainly wouldn't mind stopping at Fond Ou again too.

This was my favourite café while I was in Auckland, New Zealand! Awesome coffee, breakfast and service. If you are in the area you have to stop by and try their coffee!

It's Fond(ou) however Yelp doesn't allow "characters." Loved this place so much decided to Yelp it. It wasn't on Yelp so I created it!! The coffee delicious and the muffins/quiche/pastries are fantastic. On top of that the banter between the guys and with the guests creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Helpful and humorous customer service -- can't ask for more! Blessing: found out coffee and morning snacks for the next few days. Curse: no longer want to explore in this category.

Fond (ou) is a charming tiny café attached to the Auckland City Hotel. My husband and I ate there every morning we were in Auckland on our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They quickly got to know our names during our stay and greeted us warmly every morning. We were surprised that a place so small could have such a wide variety of delicious offerings to choose from. Most all of it (with the exception of the cookies) is made right in the café in a little oven behind the counter. We ate breakfast there a total of three times and got something different each morning. The food, beverage, and service was excellent every time!

Hoping our long summer will continue for another month, I've set the venue for Browns Bay in the park, where we'll do a picnic style party for mums and bubs. Snacks for the moms will be upmarket and for the babies it will be pirate inspired cakes and biscuits. These days parents need to be aware of modern day ailments: gluten intolerance, lactose issues and peanut butter allergies, all things we have to take in regard. Keeping this in mind, we've ordered gluten free cupcakes from Herne Bay Bakery, and they've created these beautifully little pirate cupcakes for the occasion. Plus they've offered us 10% discount. Thanks, HBB.

This place is great. My optimum lunch choice. It's well out of the way if I want to eat lunch here, but I make that trek on occasion because it's so worth it. I love this place. I love everything about it. I love the old lady who's in charge. I love her young Asian workers. I love their range of sandwiches. I love the lolly cake and neenish tarts and belgium biscuits and pies. I love their shitty drinks. I love that they have a little oven thing with fried chicken or something. I love that it's everything that Herne Bay and Ponsonby isn't. Best meal combo: Curried egg sandwhich on wholemeal bread and a carton of Nippys chocolate milk. Yes. Yes. Yes.

I chose to have the lemon and yoghurt bombe alaska that was fantastic. The right amount of sweetness and tartness. There was a bit of confusion that kind of spoiled our experience as we also ordered the passion fruit and peach chocolate bon bon and was only told after the dish arrived that the passion fruit and peach were only available as shards, which was eight dollars more. We would have appreciated the waitress explaining that some of the chocolates came as shards and the others as bon bons, so we felt like we were tricked into ordering something. The cookie dough macaron was good but didn't remind us of cookie dough, more of a chocolate macaron. We left wanting a lot more from our experience chocolate- and pastry-wise.

It has a crispy lemony coating over a frozen yogurt middle, finished off with stripes of meringue on the top. It all case together so well! The cookies and cream rocher was also very delicious. It was topped with edible gold, had a crunchy cookies and cream outer layer before you hit a velvety chocolate mousse later. Finally, the inside had bits of cookie. It sounds very sweet and sickly but was pleasantly well balanced. I wish they had a Milse where I'm from! Actually maybe not, or else I'd be so broke.

It's toasty and the selections of things are incredible. If you're looking for a go to, quick breakfast, and a delicious latte. The prices are great and the lady owning it was super sweet. GO, don't wait.

A raspberry chocolate croissant, a chocolate brioche, and a canele topped my plate. The canele was my highlight, crispy and sweet on the outside and gooey on the inside. The brioche was freshly warm and soft but not too rich. The croissant was on the verge, somewhat stale around the edges but still enjoyable. The ups: these pastries and the olive bread were delicious. Prices are very reasonable too, only $10 all up for the three sweets. La Voie Francaise also boasts an inviting atmosphere that's relaxing but well kempt. The downs: I'm not convinced by these tastings that La Voie is all the rage, but that's probably just because I've been spoiled by the French market in Parnell. I'll be back for a croque monsieur at some stage, maybe my mind will change.
