Family having fun nibbling away the pies and coffees... :) blessed...

Their home made pies are absolutely a must try! The duck confit pies and pork belly pies are sooooooo delicious! The pastry OMG is gorgeous! I went there with family from hk and USA and bought a few things from the complex and sat out the courtyard. This way you can try many varieties. It's a gem to sit there enjoy a pie and coffee from it's next door Three Beans... Smell the freshly roasted coffee beans... Divine.

Scratch Bakers is an intimate, out-of-the-way, contemporary cafe located in Depot Works: unassuming and quirky. They offer donuts, friands, quiche, fudge and gingerbread Christmas trees at the moment! The coffee is served in takeaway white cups branded with 'scratch' on the side. Looks very urban. Ambience is relaxed with large bean bags outside to bask in the sun and/or casually sit inside, with some mags and watch the passers-by. Great spot that is unpretentious and satisfying.

    Sooooo delicious!

Scratch Bakers is one of the best eating-places in the City Works Depot - aside from Best Ugly Bagels! They serve a range of sweet treats, sandwiches, coffees and I have heard that their pies are delicious! I went to Scratch Bakers one Saturday afternoon. It was hard to just pick one thing as everything on display looked to die for! Eventually, I settled with a Sticky Date + Ginger Cupcake with a salted caramel buttercream ($5.50). Even just typing that makes my mouth water! It was perfect and tasted just like the pudding, with added extras of course. Next time I will definitely be trying a Duck and Sweet Potato Pie or maybe go all out and order a Bread + Butter Pudding too!

Came in after a filling brunch so I only had enough room in my stomach to try the Chocolate-Espresso doughnut which I thought was great! Store is very cute indeeed! Staff are pleasant and the set up is great. They serve coffee and have a outdoor beanbag area to relax in. Will definitely be checking this place out again!

Hoping our long summer will continue for another month, I've set the venue for Browns Bay in the park, where we'll do a picnic style party for mums and bubs. Snacks for the moms will be upmarket and for the babies it will be pirate inspired cakes and biscuits. These days parents need to be aware of modern day ailments: gluten intolerance, lactose issues and peanut butter allergies, all things we have to take in regard. Keeping this in mind, we've ordered gluten free cupcakes from Herne Bay Bakery, and they've created these beautifully little pirate cupcakes for the occasion. Plus they've offered us 10% discount. Thanks, HBB.

This place is great. My optimum lunch choice. It's well out of the way if I want to eat lunch here, but I make that trek on occasion because it's so worth it. I love this place. I love everything about it. I love the old lady who's in charge. I love her young Asian workers. I love their range of sandwiches. I love the lolly cake and neenish tarts and belgium biscuits and pies. I love their shitty drinks. I love that they have a little oven thing with fried chicken or something. I love that it's everything that Herne Bay and Ponsonby isn't. Best meal combo: Curried egg sandwhich on wholemeal bread and a carton of Nippys chocolate milk. Yes. Yes. Yes.

I chose to have the lemon and yoghurt bombe alaska that was fantastic. The right amount of sweetness and tartness. There was a bit of confusion that kind of spoiled our experience as we also ordered the passion fruit and peach chocolate bon bon and was only told after the dish arrived that the passion fruit and peach were only available as shards, which was eight dollars more. We would have appreciated the waitress explaining that some of the chocolates came as shards and the others as bon bons, so we felt like we were tricked into ordering something. The cookie dough macaron was good but didn't remind us of cookie dough, more of a chocolate macaron. We left wanting a lot more from our experience chocolate- and pastry-wise.

It has a crispy lemony coating over a frozen yogurt middle, finished off with stripes of meringue on the top. It all case together so well! The cookies and cream rocher was also very delicious. It was topped with edible gold, had a crunchy cookies and cream outer layer before you hit a velvety chocolate mousse later. Finally, the inside had bits of cookie. It sounds very sweet and sickly but was pleasantly well balanced. I wish they had a Milse where I'm from! Actually maybe not, or else I'd be so broke.

It's toasty and the selections of things are incredible. We got lots of things I cannot pronounce or attempt to spell, but they consisted of : the croque monsieur, almond croissant, cheesy bread, croissant with onions and nuts and cheese(yes and it's SO GOOD). If you're looking for a go to, quick breakfast, and a delicious latte. The prices are great and the lady owning it was super sweet. GO, don't wait.

Someone brought…read morehome an olive bread from La Voie Francaise that got me hooked, so I decided to have a late morning pastry feast of my own. A raspberry chocolate croissant, a chocolate brioche, and a canele topped my plate. The canele was my highlight, crispy and sweet on the outside and gooey on the inside. The brioche was freshly warm and soft but not too rich. The croissant was on the verge, somewhat stale around the edges but still enjoyable. The ups: these pastries and the olive bread were delicious. Prices are very reasonable too, only $10 all up for the three sweets. La Voie Francaise also boasts an inviting atmosphere that's relaxing but well kempt. The downs: I'm not convinced by these tastings that La Voie is all the rage, but that's probably just because I've been spoiled by the French market in Parnell. I'll be back for a croque monsieur at some stage, maybe my mind will change.
