Really good Chinese food. I have no idea what the negative review are talking about. My first time here and the waiter was really attentive and polite. Food was all fresh and tasty. Just be careful with the Orange Chicken as it is one spicy motha! The egg rolls are the best I've ever had. The beef and veggie stirfry was good. My husband loved the Jasmine tea. It was a little cold so you may want to take a jacket. Don't let the emptiness fool you as people come and go and the seating is quite large. One star was removed for the price, which is higher than expected but well worth it. read more

I love Dai Tung. I could end my review there and have perfectly summed up how I feel, but how useful is that to everyone else?? The food is fresh and always steaming hot, all the apps we've had are fantastic. I've tried every single soup on the menu, all wonderful. Their hot and sour soup perplexes me. I've had MANY bowls of hot and sour soup in my lifetime, but this is the first time it's ever been hot in temperature, hot in spiciness, and actually sour! It's unbelievable what I was missing! Now all the other restaurants should change the name of their hot and sour to warm and bland. On my first visit I couldn't say no to one of my favorite dishes - moo shi chicken. Deliciously sauteed (almost tastes grilled) chicken and stir fried crunchy vegetables in a very VERY light brown smokey sauce wrapped in a paper thin crepe with hoisin sauce. Is your mouth drooling yet? No? Then how about their fried rice, the biggest shocker on the menu. Their fried rice that comes with your plate - even the waiter will admit - is COMPLETELY different than the fried rice on the menu. The order of fried rice (chicken, veggie, or shrimp I believe) is AMAZING. AH-MAY-ZING. It TASTES fried, you'll lick the little delicious bits of wok oil off your lips. The chicken is incredibly tender - hell ALL of their non-fried dishes are incredibly tender - and the veggies are crisp. Ask for extra egg! All in all, you can't go wrong. Staff is friendly and courteous, the place is never packed or noisy, and the prices are very reasonable. You will NOT leave hungry or unsatisfied!! read more

Customer service was horrible. Host was very nice to my family and sat us down. Waiter came to take our drink order. Unfortunately, they ran out of sweet tea, so I could only have water to drink. When he returned after taking our food order, I asked if it was okay to go to the store to purchase a sweet tea since I prefer that over water. He said no. I reminded him that he had nothing for me to drink since I'm unable to drink uncarbonated drinks due to medications I'm on, and again he simply said no. I then told him then we have to leave. All he has to say was "okay." Not a "let me see how quick we can whip some up" or "let me see if my manager says it's okay" or any attempt in service recovery. Moved to Tucson a couple years ago and have yet to be able to find good Chinese. So I get nostalgic for Dai Tung pretty often. The food is delicious. I'm not Chinese (see picture), have never been to China either (unfortunately), so I can't vouch for authenticity. But I can vouch for deliciousness! The portions are ridiculous! My bf and I would usually just split one entree. Made us feel less like pigs :) I'll find myself creeping over to Dai Tung when back in the Valley, I'm sure. read more

I finally found a great Chinese place in McAllen . The Kung Pow is incredible, with a hint of lemon-grass. The place is clean, reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The hot and sour soup was great. I will definitely return ! read more

The food was just ok. However, this is the first time that I had horrible fried rice it tasted like one minute instant rice with no flavor at all. My boys liked the pork dumplings and the egg rolls. The lo mein was ok not much to brag about here. Good customer service but I will spend my next $60 somewhere else. read more

I personally find Chinese food an extremely hard food to make right and these guys know what they're doing. I've been here on a few occasions and both stays have been great. Service was a bit slow but nothing bothersome. The ambience is not bothersome its usually nice and quiet. I recommend their hot and sour soup w/ wontons and general tsaos chicken. It's amazing. I have to say this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had, and I have had plenty. We both had the Lunch Special with Mongolian Beef. The egg roll was undercooked and chewy. The egg drop soup was "ok" but the beef was super tough and inedible. Never again. read more

Food is good but worst customer service. Waiter Israel was very very rude. He grabbed my food and told me to leave and that they didn't need customers like me!!! Never been treated like that anywhere! I had ordered online and Asian lady at register was all confused and charged me someone else's order that was $13 more. She didn't know how to cancel and She had to call manager, who was at home, and I had to wait until she came. Manager was very sweet and apologized but they shouldn't have employees like Israel that treat customers like trash. I felt so offended and was very upset! Whenever I am looking for Chinese, this has become my go to place. Have gotten the fried tofu, kung pao, and the triple delight, and neither have ever failed me. Always delicious and something I look forward to when I order. Spring and Egg rolls are also a must. I usually order take out as it's close to my house, but the interior is quaint and comfortable. Very consistent Chinese dishes; always cooked right. Best Hot & Sour soup around. Just not sure how clean they keep the kitchen, and the a/c is always on the blink. Hard to eat in comfort when it is hot and humid. If they keep the place clean and fix the air, they deserve 5+ stars. read more

Dai tung has an extensive menu. I LOVE all the soups here. Their food is fresh and taste delicious. I recommend everything on the menu except the orange chicken and the general tso's chicken. The hofen is so good and so are the vermicelli bowls. read more

Snuggled between seedy nightclubs, Dai Tung is a gem to enjoy! The prices have gone up a little but the portions are HUGE! Don't order too much or you'll be rolling out the door. The food is great tasting and the restaurant is cozy. Sometimes the wait-staff are hard to communicate with, so make sure to do a lot of pointing to the menu and ask for them to repeat the order. Chinese food is a dime a dozen everywhere you go, but good Chinese is hard to find. Ordered general chicken and teriyaki chicken with fried rice and egg rolls. General chicken was huge plump pieces and was delicious I just wish it was more spicy. Teriyaki was really tasty and the egg rolls were crispy and delicious. Worst Japanese cuisine restaurant I have been since 2013 in the beginning it was pretty excellent but now since KGBT food 4 thought revealed it has scored very high 41 demerits with no certain proper certified food manager on duty,No proper hand sanitizing soap, Dead roaches found on a plate of duck soup. I've been meaning to try this place for the longest time and finally my recent visit to McAllen I got the chance. I'm so glad I came by with my bro and sis. Service was great and very humble and apologetic when waitress forgot to get my bros refill on drink but we were so engrossed in eating such yummy food we forgot he was missing his drink!! XD We told the waitress and we all found it funny. The food takes awhile but in mean time we ordered steamed pork buns that are served with sauces. Sweet and sour sauce is good~ and their fresh Jasmine tea is probably one of the best teas I've ever had. I would go back just for that tasty tea.. But the food was amazing!! Ginger chicken didn't have fancy presentation but was savory and soft. The rice is GOOOD and the eggdrop soup was yummy, didn't come with fried noodle or corn. I got shredded pork with bamboo shoots and scallops. Flavor was well balanced, not too salty or sweet. My sister order the plate with scallops with black bean sauce and the sauce was sooooo good on rice!!! I kept freeloading off that sauce haha. Total bill was well under what I expected so that was great! The portions are huge and super fun for sharing within a group. I loved the interior, was very cozy and clean.
