I recieved six dahlia tubers in the mail. Only two had any eyes to face upward in the soil. The other four were very skinny, like the width of a bread stick, they were cracked and had chunks missing and no eyes. Unfortunately, these did not arrive to Washington state until mid May. It was too late to find any replacements in my local nursuries. I sent an email to the company and have not had a response. So much for sending off $75 to support small businesses. Visited the Dahlia barn last fall. It was a great way to see all the dahlias and choose which ones to order. Their prices were significantly cheaper than Swans, however you get what you pay for. I ordered a over a hundred dollars worth of bulbs and was looking forward to planting them in the Spring. Mailing time said April 15th to May 1st for PNW. If you were picking up, it was significantly earlier. Tried to calling and emailing multiple to see if I could come pick up, but no one ever answers the phone or responds to email. When I finally did receive my order, they were out of Cafe Au Lait Rose due to a crop loss and replaced it with Cafe Au Lait. So I now have two of the same dahlia instead of being able to choose something I don't have. I called again, but don't have any hope that anyone will ever respond. Will probably stick with Swans the next time. Theirs shipped on April 15th, the tubers were bigger and came with markers. read more

What a great way to select premium dahlia tubers than to see them growing and blooming. This was my first year of growing dahlias. I had great success. I selected all tubers off grower's websites. How fun to see each tuber in bloom. After seeing their growing method we saw what changes need to be made In my planting method. I did order 12 more tubers. What a great experience to cut your own dahilas! Yup, that's what you can do here during the month of September when dahilas are ready to harvest! Located near Mt Si trailhead (for you hikers) Dahila Farm is nearby. The owners are very helpful in giving a brief or lengthy way to cut flowers, which was excellent for me because I have never cut them before! The gardens are also planted by colour and have wonderfully fun names next to them so you know what type of flower and how much the tube would cost. For $10, you get 12 dahlias that you get to select and cut or you can select from precut flowers. Its a fun activity for any age! The owners are very sweet and helpful too! The Dahlia Barn is little jewel tucked away in North Bend. It's an adorable little dahlia farm and in September, it's open to the public on weekends for people to wander around the many varieties of dahlia flowers that are blooming. I love dahlias - they're just so cute and beautiful! The dahlias are labeled with their names so that you can buy tubers if you're interested (I wish I had a yard!). Inside the barn, they have different dahlias on display arranged by color (there are SO many kinds) and you can vote for your favorite. And you can take home a bouquet of dahlias for only $10 (they do accept credit card). It's a better deal than you'll find at farmers markets! They're so gorgeous and freshly cut. The owner even cut my favorite French Bell dahlia and added it to the bouquet I selected! The owner and his wife were really nice and friendly and I overheard the owner answer questions about dahlia care too. This is a lovely place to spend an hour. The farm is really close to the Little Si trailhead and on the way to Mount Si - so take a break and stop here to admire these beautiful dahlias at Dahlia Barn, while you can. These flowers were Gorgeous! We recieved so many compliments on them during our wedding on Oct. 7th. The Dahlia Barn was so easy to work with. I ordered over the phone and they were able to help me figure out exactly what I needed, processed payment over the phone, and gave me clear instructions on pickup. You are a very dishonest person. I hadn't seen this statement you wrote 4 years after my post. You must be getting me confused with someone else. I have NEVER owned a convertible in my life, nor do I know anyone that does. You yourself told me when I ordered the white ones that they were not as nice as the colored ones, but would try your best to find some for me. You said it was a bad year for them and tried to get me to get colored ones. And- your husband, whom I spoke to first was really worried I would write a bad review. I was upset. It was my wedding and the flowers were terrible. Driving all the way for a small gift card just wasn't worth it. I cut my losses. But for you to lie about it really shows your character. Stopped in here on a drive from Wenatchee to Seattle to pick up some dahlia tubers.. what a lovely place! The owner was very informative and personable. I had lots of questions he was willing to take the time to answer in detail. The selection of gorgeous dahlia tubers was fabulous and each packet has a photograph of that dahlia type in bloom. I was excited to see they also had peonies, flox, hosta, gladiola, astilbe, and a host of other exciting options. The bulbs and tubers I got look so healthy and I was also sent home with a detailed planting and care instruction guide! Can't say enough good things about the Dahlia Barn! I worked with them ordering the flowers for our September wedding this year and had a very positive experience. Aimee was so helpful and very knowledgable of the types of flowers and gave me great advice on what I would need and how much. Our pickup went very smoothly--all of the flowers I ordered were cut and ready for me to take home. The flowers were mature, vibrant, and healthy and the colors they chose for me were amazing together. I ordered a mix of mostly white dahlias, with pinks, purples, and a little pops of orange/yellow as well. I combined them with a few extra bouquets of other types of flowers that I picked up from Pike's Place Market and made some really stunning arrangements. My bridesmaids and I all got together the day before our wedding to make our bouquets and centerpieces--all said and done, between the 8 of us it only took about two hours and it was such a fun memory to have of our wedding weekend! Doubly awesome was being able to walk into our wedding venue, see all the beautiful flowers, and say "I made that!". I would definitely recommend the Dahlia Barn to anyone looking for an affordable DIY alternative to an expensive professional florist. Keep in mind that you may not get exactly what you order from their website--but they do their very best to give you what you want. The Dahlia Barn has been a wonderful company to work with. I ordered 27 bunches in June for my mid-September wedding. We talked about different sizes we needed and that I wanted any color except white. Aimee and Jerry made sure we had a covered vehicle for transportation so the flowers wouldn't get damaged. I was overjoyed when I saw the flowers!! They were absolutely gorgeous. The bunches were perfect and ready to go. My family received so many compliments on how beautiful the flowers were. I can't say enough about how happy I was with my dahlias. I also ordered a variety of tubers from them earlier in the year and enjoyed strong, large, healthy, beautiful dahlia plants that produced incredible flowers. I bought 9 bulbs, only 6 came up. I planted them the wrong way, this was my first experience planting dahlias. I emailed them and they told me how to plant them correctly for next time. The ones that did come up were absolutely beautiful, I couldn't be happier. I will order again this fall for next year. read more

After contacting several local, independent florists, we decided to go with the Dahlia Barn to provide the flowers for our wedding in Cle Elum, WA. From the beginning, Aimee and Jerry were very helpful and genuinely enthused to provide our flowers and they went above and beyond, I felt, to make sure that everything was perfect. One challenge that we had was dealing with the extreme heat that was experienced during the days leading up to our wedding. When we contacted Aimee to let her know we were worried that the flowers would wilt from the heat, she understood and told us that she would wait until the last possible minute to cut the dahlias. We had A LOT of flowers, and I know it must have taken them hours to cut all of them and deliver them. Our flowers arrived on time and in beautiful condition. We were thrilled! Our venue had a sort of rustic feel to it which made matching the colors of our flowers to the features of the venue a bit challenging. After meeting with Aimee and Jerry, we felt pretty comfortable having them develop the color palette for us. We simply showed them several photos of the venue and then they shared ideas with us for what flowers would look best for our setting. They nailed it! Lastly, I can't say enough good things about our experience with the Dahlia Barn. Our final price which included delivery, help setting up and everything else was very reasonable. I order dahlia tubers from The Dahlia Barn and they always grow beautifully. Dahlias are a great hobby ! I go to their farm in September every year and cut flowers. I think it's a great place. The owners have always been so kind and friendly but helpful too. The farm is only about 30 minutes east of Seattle but yet you feel like you have stepped back in time to the simpler things in life...always gives me a feeling of peace and tranquility walking amongst the flowers. These dahlias were absolutely for my wedding. My bouquet and table arrangements were made entirely of white dahlias and ferns. I ordered no other flowers and was relying on the dahlias I ordered. As instructed by their website, I called and placed my order. I was told none of the varieties I wanted were available so we emailed back and forth until I selected flowers I was told were available. In the email I was told to pay when I picked them up. They also emailed me the day before to confirm my order and I confirmed. I do not know how she can say she didn't know I was still interested and that I wasn't a 'serious' customer. She has still never apologized or admitted any fault on her part. Instead of being a respected customer I am called a 'difficult' person because I wanted white flowers in my wedding bouquet. read more

Last fall I ordered approximately 10 Dahlia tubers from The Dahlia Barn. When they arrive this spring I called the barn to tell them that several of the tubers did not have eyes or the bulging area that would eventually produce an eye. The person who answered the phone got angry with me and told me that he isn't in the business of selling tubers that won't produce flowers. I am a seasoned Dahlia grower and a Master Gardener. I have bought tubers anywhere from Costco to local Garden nurseries in have never yet had a tuber that didn't produce beautiful flowers. of the tubers that I received from Dave, all but four are about 8 inches high. For however have not even picked up from the soil. In all the time I have been growing dahlias, I have noticed differences of when the tubers will peek through, but never have they been 3 weeks apart. I'm sure if I call Dave and ask for him to send me 4 more tubers of the kind that have not produced I will get as angry or response as I did when I called asking the question earlier. It is my practice not to plant a tuber that doesn't have an eye. I did so because he demanded that I plant them. Very disappointed! Approximately $28 down the tubes. read more

I contacted Aimee at the Dahlia Barn about six weeks before my wedding. I love dahlias, so this seemed like a good match. I mentioned in my first email that I would like to come out and see them before the wedding, because I didn't have a specific color scheme in mind. An appointment was made for just over a week before the wedding. On THE DAY of my appointment Aimee called to let me know that there wasn't a flower in the field, nothing for me to look at. She complained that they had sold out and asked me to reschedule for early the next week, midday. I work and it was the week before my wedding, I had a million things to do. My mom had come in from out of town and my bridesmaids had rearranged their work schedules to come pick out flowers with me. I was very disappointed and had to scramble to find a new place to get my flowers, with just over a week to go. I was not willing to work with some one who had handled the situation so poorly. I had a terrible experience with the Dahlia Barn. I visited in September and thought it was a nice place with some beautiful dahlias in the beds. I thought I would give them a try. I had for the first time created 2 big beds in the center of my garden, and in the sunniest spot. It was the perfect place. I had always bought my dahlia bulbs at Swan Island before but decided to try Dahlia Barn. in one bed I put Swan Island tubers and in the other bed I put Dahlia Barn Tubers. When they arrived in the mail, I became concerned because they were half of the size of Swan Island tubers. I called and the owner reassured me that the tubers were small but mighty. He said that because they were small, they wanted to live. I thought that was the strangest answer and was suspicious. I had good reason to be. The dahlias are small and sad looking. Most of them are not doing well. In comparison the Swan Island Dahlias are huge and producing dahlias now. I did take pictures and sent them to the owner. And left messages on his Vm. I spent quite a bit of money and thought he should either replace them or refund me. His dahlia tubers are substandard. I would not recommend buying from this business. The customer service is also bad. He never responded or took responsibility for the problem. I suspect that others have had these issues as well. I will never buy from the Dahlia Barn again. The tubers are not good and are smaller than any I have ever seen and do not produce any good dahlias and its July 20 today. Sad read more

If I could give this company a lower score, I would. I placed an order for flowers picked out by my 6 year old daughter. I received my order. Everything was actually going very well as far as growing and we had even donated a few of the tubers to a local garden as we didn't end up having enough room for them all. A couple of weeks ago we had a company come out to fix our deck. Unfortunately, the men who came to fix the deck were completely careless and not only walked over the entire garden but also left paint chips covering many areas of the garden. I had contacted the owner of the company who came out to view the disaster. He offered to replace all of the flowers. I explained to him that it was too late in the year to order/plant new tubers. He then asked me for a copy of all of my receipts containing anything purchased for the garden. The only one I could not find was the one from Dahlia Barn. It was not something that was ever emailed to me and the one that was mailed with the tubers has been misplaced. I contacted Dahlia Barn through their website and asked if it would be difficult to obtain a copy of it. I know the exact amount that was spent since it is on my bank statement, but I wanted to be fair and make sure I didn't amount for shipping charges and wanted to subtract the amount of the ones that were donated. The response I got from the owner, Aimee, was unbelievable. "We don't want any part in cheating hard working men or a small business out of any money. It's not their responsibility to pay for your garden, that was trampled by your children." I had to read the response a few times before realizing that not only was I being denied a copy of a receipt for items I purchased, but she has now wrongly accused my daughter of trampling her garden. Aimee's assumption and the way she has wrongly accused a child, whom is unable to walk, is absolutely unbelievable. This is no way to conduct business. I will not ever consider a purchase nor a recommendation to such a company. The flowers may be beautiful but Aimee should really invest some time into customer service. read more
