Gerti Tashko, MD - Dr. Tashko

Gerti Tashko, MD

Doctor Tashko was my endocrinologist for over four years until we moved to Texas three months ago…read more He is an outstanding physician: incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely caring about his patients - spending as much time as was needed to answer all of my questions and concerns without hurrying through any part of the appointment. His whole practice is patient-centric where the patient's need definitely come first. His consultations will be missed!

I've been seeing Dr. Tashko since June 2016, 8 years after I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I…read morehad visited more than 5 endocrinologists before I met Dr. Tashko. My condition was getting worse. Other endocrinologists were unable to help and all of their effort was to constantly change my medications without any explanation and no results. I always felt rushed during my doctor visits with them especially after having had to wait in the waiting room for long periods, which was very inconvenient and useless.  Dr. Tashko is one of the very few doctors I know who is extremely passionate about his profession. He takes time to make sure all my questions are answered. He works with me to address my health concerns and makes sure I understand my course of treatment and action. He makes sure we are on the same page and understanding. He takes his time to explain the prescriptions and their side-effects, how they work, and the science behind them. He discusses several options, the outcome of each, and which best works with my lifestyle for the best result. I have NEVER seen a doctor who cared so much. He always prints out handouts for me to take home and he directs me to related articles and resources to educate me on my health condition. Hands down, Dr. Tashko is one of the best doctors and I'm so blessed to have met him and have him as my endocrinologist. After having two babies back to back in 2018 and 2019 I had gained a lot of weight and my A1C went up to 7.0. Thanks to Dr. Tashko I lost 36 lbs and dropped my A1C down to 5.0. This is the best I've ever felt about my health and physical appearance. I would also like to add that his staff is very friendly, respectful, and responsive. I always get a respond within an hour (on business hours) no matter if my inquiry is administrative or medical related. I highly recommend him!

I had many issues with the doctor they assigned to me including a 90 minute wait time in the exam room after waiting in the waiting room and I clearly could not work with her. I called and asked to speak to the office manager, Kimberly Stahl who was unavailable to speak to me. I requested a call back to discuss my issues and she did not have the courtesy of returning my call to find out why it became necessary for me to choose another practice. I would highly NOT recommend Maryland Endocrine to anyone @ this point. I found there to be no interest in patient well being or respect for my time.

They don't know to talk to patient. no bedside manner. They all want your money and a lot of money. every single thing they ask them a question, they charged you: lab work, prescription refill and any question. Please stay far and far away from this office. Please do not use the patient portal. They charge you a fee. this office is a scammer. I never heard a such thing when you communicate with them over the portal and they bill you for. Interesting, they try to empty and rob your pocket. you all need to report this office to the BBB and board of physician. The office manager is even worst person in this office. The call center Brandon and Stancier are both equally evil and extremely rude like their boss office manager and the doctor in charge of this office. I would strongly recommend you need to do the thorough homework before you make the appointment in this office. Every one in this office are crazy, hostile, aggressive and very rude.

I've been going to this office for nearly 10 years, and have seen a number of different doctors…read more Dr. Juarbe has been the only one I've had a problem with, and it went 1 step too far for me. We've longed disagreed about the dosage of one of my meds. I tell him about the negative effects different dosages have on me, and ask him to adjust it accordingly, but he just looks at the lab tests and usually changes the dose in the opposite direction of what I've asked. And my state gets worse. During my last visit I was again in bad shape from the previous dosage change. I told him I need to be back to one of my previous doses; he just looked at the lab reports and suggested a change in the opposite direction. That's bad, but when I asked what the dangers were with the dose I was asking (which is well within dosages I've been on from other doctors in the practice) he just rattled off terms I didn't understand and couldn't catch. When I then asked what the risks of those would be, he said "there will be a risk". Totally useless information. I'm giving 3 stars because I don't have any problems with the other medicines he prescribes me. But this is a medicine I need to stay alive, so it's important to me. Lab work is important, but it doesn't tell the doctor about the side effects a medicine is having. And to blow-off a patient's questions is just inexcusable. Hopefully, the practice will get an additional doctor soon who treats the patients, not the lab results.

Clear Symptoms Completely Dismissed: No Diagnosis, No Treatment…read more I saw Dr. Monica Mannan when I was 19 in college for primary amenorrhea -- I had never had a period in my life -- along with insulin resistance, and other classic pcos symptoms. I was worried and didn't know what was wrong, and I paid privately because insurance would not cover the visits. Dr. Mannan ordered extensive testing, including large blood panels (around 10 vials in one draw), urine tests, screening for Cushing's, a pelvic ultrasound, and more. After all of that, she told me my hormones were "normal," said she didn't know what was wrong, and suggested the NIH. No clear referral was provided, no diagnosis was made, and no treatment options were offered. For a young patient with obvious symptoms, the lack of follow-through or basic clinical care was shocking. A few years later an OB-GYN diagnosed PCOS almost immediately and started treatment that finally initiated my first menstrual cycle. That was medically important because going many years without menstruation increases endometrial cancer risk, something that was never addressed during my care with Dr. Mannan. I am now older and still upset about this experience and the lack of PCOS awareness from an endocrinologist. I lost years dealing with symptoms that should have been treated much earlier. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this doctor.

She had not reviewed my records I submitted and I had to repeat myself several times. I completed a very detailed questionnaire and she did not address most of the issues I had indicated on the questionnaire. I found the Dr. very unsympathetic and feel she downplayed my concerns. The only advice she gave me was to stop worrying and don't cook my oatmeal so long, what!!!! I had to sit and listen to her dictate the appointment into a computer. She barely said goodbye. I would not recommend this Dr.

During her time as my provider, I had nothing but positive experiences with both her and Clinical Associates. Unfortunately, since her retirement and the subsequent transfer of patients to Andrea Holzman, CNP and now to Tanya Johnson, CNP the quality of care and communication has significantly declined. I have repeatedly attempted to refill a prescription by leaving voicemail messages, sending requests through the patient portal, and having my pharmacy submit refill requests. None of these attempts have received a response. Additionally, my wife has been experiencing the same ongoing issues, and I know we are not the only patients affected. At this point, I am actively seeking a new healthcare facility. I am unsure whether the current provider is overwhelmed or simply not prioritizing patient care; however, the lack of communication is unacceptable. Calls to the front desk routinely go unanswered, and messages left are not returned. This is extremely disappointing given my long-standing history with this practice.

As I was looking for a doctor who is trained in Integrative medicine for my family, I had some basic questions as to whether the doctor was taking patients only with serious illnesses or otherwise healthy and also insurance. She basically did not know any answers and instead chose to read something repeatedly that really did not answer these simple basic questions. She then got annoyed when I pointed this out to her and asked if someone could get back to me with answers by saying that she had already answered my questions. She then had a poor attitude with me and showed clearly her annoyance with me. It was quite frustrating at this point so I decided to end this comical call. So I wasted my valuable time and got the worst impression of a doctor's office ever with this person. But perhaps they have so much business that they can have her behave this way? I mean really - at $350 consultation fee plus $175 thereafter that she said most insurance won't cover, I guess they are doing extremely well!
