The omelet had a risk of being runny and watery with the consistency of the salsa and tomatoes, but it was well balanced and great tasting! My home fires were grilled. For six dollars the portions were great. The service: it's a small, family run diner, and there was a bit of a wait. But with one single person waitress she did a great job balancing the needs of other tables with ours. The space: so this is the only criticism I really have: it's pretty darn crowded in the small space, and if you're going on a Sunday or weekend be sure to get there before nine; it gets really crowded. Not much in the way of ambience, the place looks a little antiquated and isn't really decorated, but if you're sitting in a window seat you get a great view of Main Street Mechanic Falls. All of the open tables, were clean and ready for new patrons. The restaurant was about half full and appeared to be mostly regulars, as they were chatting with the staff and each other. I love local places that know the locals that well. Our drink orders were taken within a minute of sitting. The hot chocolate were rich and creamy even without whipped cream. I opted not to have it added. I ordered a blueberry muffin as my "appetizer". They offer it as is, or grilled. I love it grilled and it was good and not too filling. For our meals we ordered a table pancake (meaning, a pancake for sharing). It was fluffy and perfectly good - nice and hot. They have "syrup" and it reminded me of being a kid and having Log Cabin syrup. I didn't ask, but it didn't taste like pure maple syrup. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with a grilled english muffin. It was perfectly cooked and it was delicious. It tasted like canned corned beef hash and I was not mad about it. I truly wanted comfort food and this hit. My friend had the S.O.S. (gravy with beef and pork) AKA Sh*t on a Shingle. It looked soooo good and she stated the biscuit and gravy and meat were good. We took our leftovers home, which will tell you, the portions were decent, the food was delicious and no delicious food would be left behind. I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in diner food, with quick friendly service and plenty of space. I definitely want to come back and get the S.O.S.

But they had a nice seasoning. The one thing that stood out is the price being $15+ some cents in tax. For this size meal, maybe a bit much? Then everyone wants a tip. Is it necessary to tip on a takeout? I guess that's a personal decision. But I somehow feel bad if I don't. So all in all, it was under $20. The chicken was cooked well and had a BBQ sauce it was tossed in. Rice was very bland, but with some salt, pepper and BBQ sauce it was alive again. My wife's tips were cooked very well, but seriously under seasoned. A little salt can go a long way on steak. I was going to sample a smoked whiskey drink they had, but since the bartender was no where to be found, I settled on my soda. It's a good thing we didn't run out of drink, because we would have needed glow wands and flags to get the attention of the bartender. It's too bad because I had high praise for Buck It and the service it what drives my review from a 5-start to a 2-star. Customer service is what makes this a great place, but the younger generation don't understand the first thing about interaction and customer service unless it's through a phone or social media app. It's too bad. Keep the seasoned employees on during lunch if you want to interact with the staff.
