There is only one way to deliver this review so if you don't like a story keep scrolling. My family and I decided to eat out to celebrate making it through Maine winter and general struggles. Our first two picks for restaurants were unexpectedly closed. We had a hungry toddler in the car who had just started repeating "I eat" so we decided to try this place despite the reviews. The parking lot had cars which we saw as a good sign. We entered with a "How bad could it be?"attitude. The front door opened into a dark foyer. There were no signs of life in the visible area but we could hear people in an adjoining room. We stood there for a minute or two deciding what to do when we were approached by the most beautiful chonky grey and white pitbull. He seemed like a goodest boi and he came to say hello to all of us and let out some barks as greeting. We peaked around the corner into the bar and saw several people sitting around. They all turned to stare directly at us. It felt like breaking into someone's double wide when they had company. The old men at the bar drilled us with stagnant gazes and the women smirked knowingly. Chills ran down my back as my husband went to asked if they were serving dinner. We were told to seat ourselves in the dining room. We entered the dark and empty dining room. We stepped carefully past the boat, an arrangement of children's toys and clutter nestled between the tables and chairs. The only light came from the windows to the back and the kitchen and dining room remained dark. We chose a booth that seemed to be "the best" and we slid past the ripped and jagged naugahyde lining the bench. "Can you get tetanus from a restaurant?" I wondered as plastic grabbed denim and skin. Big Doggo was the only one to accompany us into the room. He continued to be nice but sidled right up into the seating area with the family. When one of us almost stepped on him we started thinking about what it would take for him to not be nice anymore when in striking range of limbs and faces. After several minutes a woman walked by and said with an irritated tone "We'll be with you in a while" and absentmindedly clicked on some lights. I glanced around to the nervous faces of my family and we collectively decided to leave. We looked for the server to apologize but there was again only silence surrounding us. Stephen King, if you are reading this please use this spot in a future story, it's definitely cursed. I have no idea how the food was, could have been amazing - I am unsure. read more

BOOMERS has great Pizza. We are from Boston and have had some wonderful slices from the North End as well as all the other great venues in the Boston area. Boomers is our favorite when away from home. They have a nice view from their deck, but service is spotty as they have a hard time finding serving help. Save yourself the headache and order a pizza to go. read more

Food is great. Service always great. Ambiance is good. Outside deck is great looks out over the lake. Only one little complaint, but it won't stop me from going back. On a Saturday we all went to go there, party of about 8. Walked in at 2 and told us the place is closed. What, no reason, they just said to us we just decided to close. They stopped making their lobster rolls over a year ago but recently started up again. I was so excited that they were back but after paying over $23 for it I realized it's completely different than how it used to be and is essentially just a half cup of lobster meat thrown onto a hotdog roll. Their lobster rolls literally went from the best I had ever tasted years ago to overpriced McDonalds quality roll. Biggest disappointment ever. read more

Ridiculous service and food situation! I ordered an $8 Caesar's salad / hold the croutons. The menu clearly states that anchovies are free for the asking. I got one anchovy. No cheese, no lemon, no anything. A plate of lettuce. When the bill came, it was $10. I walked away from the table to inquire and the waitress stated that there was a lettuce shortage so ' all the restaurants are charging extra for lettuce' We googled. No such thing. Never going back. I would rather eat out of a dumpster anywhere else than here. I have tried so many times with this place. I get cold food, I get undercooked food, or I get a terrible overall experience. The owner is usually yelling at staff or customers (myself on one occasion). The price is crazy compared to quality. The view is great! I am really getting sick and tired of some of these restaurants in Maine. I was born and raised here came here on a vacation to see my mom this is the second restaurant that has turned me away with my service dog which is totally against the law. And we came here to eat out on their beautiful deck for the sunset and very rudely we were informed that the deck was closed. 5 stars are for food. Best pizza and Italians around. Enjoyed kidding around with Rose. Used to travel clear across town to pick up our order on a frequent basis. However if I could give stars for attitude it may be 1 star. Ordered a pizza on line, awaiting a call it was ready. After about 35 minutes I called to see if it was ready. They said they had been calling me and they had been calling the wrong number which is understandable. When I asked a couple times if it was still hot, I got a really snippy "do you want it or not?" Caught me off guard with her snotty response and I immediately said no and she hung up. Haven't been back since. BTW, it was not Rose who I was speaking with. Have been a regular at BOOMERS for 10+ summers -- the lunch food is excellent! This summer, during my first two visits to BOOMER's deck, was able to order my favorite drink, a Dewars on the rocks. But, now for six weeks, have been told not available -- in fact, Heather will not order it because she already has three Scotches at the bar -- six weeks no order for a patron! -- strange -- for a patron? This review will not be about the food at Boomer's because after waiting 15 minutes for our menus and then having to flag down a waitress after 40 minutes we decided to leave after being yelled at by the short haired brunette waitress. Apparently we were wrong to inquire as to which waitress was supposed to be taking care of us after a 40 minute wait. When I tried to say that we had been waiting so long, she rudely stuck her finger in my face and interrupted me and said that the table next to us waited an hour for their menus and we just needed to wait! SERIOUSLY?!? What is wrong with these people?? Clearly she has no idea what she was doing as she couldn't handle the 6 or so tables she had and she desperately needs a lesson in customer service. And to make excuses saying our 40 minute wait wasn't an issue was a slap in the face not only to us, but to the reputation of the restaurant as well. This waitress should be fired as she would be at any other restaurant that remotely cares about their patrons and has any sort of standards We are here in ME on vacation and she surely made for a horrible experience. I've never met someone so rude in my entire life and will NEVER return to this restaurant and will be sure to spread the word about the horrendous service. Food was only OK. Nothing to write home about. Service was incredibly lacking. Slow, appetizer came out with the entree. Kids meal (pasta) says it comes with garlic bread. No bread when it was brought to table. When questioned, we were told that you had to request it. We asked for it and them were told that they were out of garlic bread. Seriously! You couldn't just take a lobster roll bun an slap some garlic butter on it. After we asked for a manager/owner, suddenly garlic bread was available to take home. The location is gorgeous, but that is all this place had going for it. My burger was okay but there was so much grease the bottom bun was completely soggy. My partner got a gluten free BBQ smoked pulled pork pizza and the BBQ sauce was more like A1 sauce and the pork wasn't smoked whatsoever. When my partner told the waitress, she came back to let us know the restaurant expected us to pay for it. The waitress felt so badly because she didn't agree with their policies, she paid for my partner's drink. On top of this, if you ask for an extra plate, they charge $3. This place is great if you want to have a cocktail on the patio but when it comes to food, I strongly suggest going somewhere else. read more

Dinner on the lakeside deck last night was slow, very slow. The deck tables were almost all full with three waitresses to cover. It took 15 minutes for our server to take a drink order, another 15 minutes to serve drinks and take our order. 40 minutes later a bland, mozzarella covered plate of bagged corn chips arrived. Don't bother with these nachos, the potato skins look better. The fish and chips arrived 15minutes later. This has become my annual tradition. I do work in the area at least once a year and I look forward to a Bloody Mary and some chicken Parmesan on their deck. The view is stunning, the food is simple, fresh, and yummy. The waitresses are...well, colorful. They're mostly friendly, although certainly accustomed to a local clientele which actually I really enjoy overall. Unfortunately, this place is not very clean. I have been there several times hoping for a good cheeseburger, but there are several other better places in town. My wife and I went to dinner here with family. The food was solid. My broiled scallops were real, quite thick and seasoned/buttered expertly. My only real complaint is that an otherwise great evening was dampened by the fact the place apparently closes before 8pm. My husband and I have eaten here a couple of times. The food is very good. We ate on the deck and really enjoyed the peaceful view of the lake. The wait staff are pleasant and helpful, although they seem to get overwhelmed when it gets at all busy. Our second visit was on a busier Friday evening, we ordered sandwiches, and had to wait 45 minutes for them! Still, this is one of the better options for eating out in the area. My boyfriend and I went here for a late lunch and were very happy that we did! It was a beautiful day and were able to sit out on the deck. All of there servers were incredibly friendly and helpful! Stopped in for a cocktail in the bar and hoped for lunch but after a long wait for a drink from the rudest bar tender who was too busy talking with the only two other customers in the bar brought us our drinks one if which was a warm beer in a warm glass which she slammed down in front of us. She never asked us if we'd like a menu or offered another beer or apologize for warm beer! We paid and left the beer. On the way out two very sweet waitresses apologized and told us that the bartender was the owners daughter! We have eaten there many times over the years but last night will probably be the last time. We ordered the platter that was listed on their outside sign. This could be also be served as a salad so we inquired of the waitress what the difference was between the two. She explained and my b/ f ordered the platter. When it arrived he immediately saw itt wasn't what he wanted and asked if the platter of cold cuts could be placed in a salad instead. The waitress said she'd be happy to ask the kitchen. She came back and said they couldn't do that! ( Honestly this only involved taking the platter of cold meats with the small amount of veggies and putting in in a bowl with lettece tomatoes, and a onion) . I then asked if we could have a little lettuce. She returned to the kitchen and brought out a bowl of lettuce. My B /f asked how much extra it would cost him to get this made into a salad. The waitress was extremely nice and kept apologizing but the kitchen would not make the salad! I had pizza which was very good as was the drink but unfortunately the view isn't worth the rudeness of the kitchen ( cook).
