Service and atmosphere is whats saving this place. Very cool resin tables with news clippings of old refrigerator ads. License plates from all over line the walls. Not very good food. Everything is very bland. The Chipped beef on toast was extremely thick and tasted more like corned beef than chipped beef. Small portions as add-ons (aka thin ham slices). Good oj. read more

My first time going yo Daddy Os and it was very good. The french fries are made fresh and were incredible. It was so nice to not have frozen fries in a diner! I had their appetizer with fries, pulled pork and cheese. The flavor was excellent, but a bit of sauce would have helped the dryness. My sister needs gluten free with no cross contamination and they had it. She said the Reuben was very good. I got my nephew a Whoopie Pie for dessert and it was at least 6" across and 2" thick! The waitress was nice and the 50s style diner was fun with license plates all over the walls. If in the area I would go again. read more

Went to this dinner by chance. Was in area and saw a review which said it was great. Had a little wait as it was Mother's Day weekend on the Sunday. The meal was excellent. The wait staff was great and kept making sure we we all set. The owner even came by to check if we were ok. The price point was also great. Would recommend to anyone in area. read more

The interior is pretty awesome, and I love that they have incorporated a Marine Corps flag into the decor, but that's about the extent of what I enjoyed here. Falls short of expectations for a diner experience in rural America - the food was just really lacking; everything was half cooked, scrambled eggs was just a omelette & was not "real" eggs, side of bacon cost almost $5 and I got 1 & 1/2 pieces to boot. It was closer to lunch but they serve breakfast all day so I suspect once folks start ordering lunch they stop caring about breakfast orders. I'm sure from looking over their menu that it has some winners on it but from my experience I don't recommend their eggs, the "hot mess" breakfast combo or paying for a side of bacon. More expensive IHOP. It is just the most basic breakfast anyone can make at home. Bland eggs, plain toast, cheap badly cooked bacon, and box sausages. Nothing special here. It is a mom-and-pop IHOP or Dennys but for more money. I would not recommend going here. Stick some license plates on the wall and serve low-quality food and you have people talking about the "amazing atmosphere". Not worth the placemat it is sitting on. read more

Limited breakfast and lunch hours. Stopped in for breakfast. Had an assortment of options from omelets, Benny's, French toast etc. I ordered chip beef gravy and it was ok. Marjorie our waitress was pleasant and fun license plate palooza on the walls. read more

Had breakfast this morning just a couple pancakes I enjoyed them the server was nice and actually brought our food out to us reason for 4 stars instead of 3 it was busy but the server was quick and attentive. Went here my 1st time with my wife (who recommended it) for lunch the other day. Very cool decor, upon entering the restaurant. Good and attentive waitstaff (even though I had to ask for a drink refill... it was not offered to me). We both got fish chowders, my wife got sweet potato fries and I got a fish and chips dinner. Our waitperson gave us 5 packages of Oyster crackers to go with the chowders... we could not use any. The chowders were crammed with potatoes and fish... but very very little 'broth'... so it would have been a mess trying to use any crackers. The flavor of the chowder was good. My fish and chips was loaded with fries and a single curled piece of fried fish. The fish tasted okay, but the fries were horrible...they tasted either freezer burnt... or just old. I ate two (just to be sure) and offered one to my wife to try... and she agreed they were just plain bad. If I do go back... it'll be to try one of their breakfasts. read more

We have been to Daddy O's many times over the years. Great service, clean establishment, food has always been very good, owner is so friendly and welcoming. But today I had THE Best Reuben sandwich on the east coast. I've had many of them over the years, at different restaurants up and down the east coast, this one was by far second to none! All of my favorite places I usually frequent cannot hold a candle to Daddy O's! We will be back, guaranteed! read more

I went for the first time to Daddy O's and I was less than satisfied. I ordered take out, lobster macaroni and cheese, and first of all, it took 1/2 hour before my order finally came. Meanwhile, sitting on a stool waiting, I'm watching one of the servers at the cash register, constantly putting her hand wiping her nose, handling food and utensils, without washing her hands. There's nothing worse than going to a restaurant and watching poor hygiene practices...It's disgusting, and turns my stomach. The "lobster" may not have been lobster at all, but perhaps if it was, it was from a can or frozen, it was VERY salty, unlike real lobster....I won't be going there again that's for sure.... read more

We visited as a family while on vacation. The service and atmosphere were great! The food was AMAZING! My husband tried the bbq pork eggs Benedict and he said it was probably the best he has had. My son and I shared the quesadillas and the cinnamon roll French toast and it was incredible! My little ones shared the 2 egg meal and instead of making me split it with an extra plate the team prepared it so their plates were made up already split. I was very pleased with that gesture! Daddy O's has a homey small town feel. The owner and employees are welcoming and friendly. The setting is quaint and diner-esque, with quirky license plate covered walls, Coca-Cola knickknacks, and an old fashion gumball machine complete with complimentary pennies. The atmosphere is warm, family friendly and upbeat. The menu is diverse without being overwhelming- you'll find a mixture of classics and creative dishes as well. 9 times out of 10 the food is cooked to perfection; I don't want to set unrealistic expectations- you may sometimes get a mistake of some sort just like with any other restaurant (remember your chefs and wait staff are human too) but they are very quick to fix anything brought to their attention as unsatisfactory. Daddy o's is our go to breakfast spot for years past and MANY years to come! To top it off, the owners are charitable and go above and beyond to give back to our community throughout the year. read more

There are diners and there are diners. This one stands out at the top of the heap. Great food, friendly and efficient staff, reasonable prices, and warm, pleasant atmosphere. I enjoy breakfasting here every time I come to the area to visit family. I've never walked away from a meal here feeling less than satisfied. The proprietors take great interest in their clientele. The restaurant has moved to 1570 Main St, Oxford, ME. Their new location is big and bright and wonderfully decorated with Coke memorabilia and license plates from all over. My only small concern is that it's loud when it's busy - they could use some sound baffles or something. read more

All just ok. Waffle and bacon and home fries not crisp. Maybe as it was end of breakfast? Him home fries and Boston cream french toast. He liked it. The food was good. Service was slow. We did go to busy time at 12 PM. I chose this place because my kids call me Daddio. It's a neat little 50s joint. I had to BLT it was good, others had the western omelette cheeseburger and so on. Remember they're only open till 2 PM, and 12 PM on Sundays. I would've like to try their brunch on Sunday but was not able to get there before they closed. I'm from East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania we went to Maine for a ministry that we were a part of. Great food and service. Very friendly staff and eclectic decor. I just wished they were not playing old cartoons which depicts black face and American Indians on their tv. It was extremely uncomfortable eating and and having to explain to my son what it all meant. I have to question the owners motive in showing those cartoons. read more

Found this little diner on the way home from Sunday River and let me tell ya, this was the best diner I've ever been to. I got a massive breakfast sampler with specialty French toast on the side for less than $12 and the food was unbelievable. I'm from PA and I would do the 6+ hour drive just to come back to this diner. read more

If it wasn't for the gross maple syrup and fake eggs it would have been great. You expect great maple syrup in Maine, no reason to have prepackaged shipped in syrup. As for the eggs I ordered scrambled and got what looked like accordion eggs. Definitely not real eggs. Eggs are cheap why not use real eggs!?! read more

Felt compelled to write a review after a visit that was so welcoming and exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious (everything from french toast to chicken tenders were lovely), appreciated touches like getting a text when your table was ready and the visits from what I assume is either the manager or owner (nice guy in a Red Sox mask) made us out of towners feel welcome and appreciated. We also didn't realize that they served alcoholic beverages and that was a heck of a surprise- my husband remarked that the raspberry lemonade mimosa was one of the best brunch drinks he'd ever had. Haven't eaten there in 4 years. Missed their Reuben & fries. I have had them elsewhere and always compared them to Daddy O's and said, "nobody comes close to Daddy O's" Ordered today and have to say I am SADLY disappointed!!!! Sandwich wasn't grilled it was burnt and I counted the fries, I had 13 and they have changed them too, they were a lot like the frozen ones I got my kids when they were little. The best breakfast diner in town, hands down. My go-to dish is their cinnamon roll French toast (made with cinnamon rolls from Rising Sun Cafe & Bakery), which is as unique as it is ridiculously delicious. Homemade raisin bread, buttered, with bacon and a fresh, warmed muffin make the rest of my breakfast a real humdinger. If I can somehow tear myself away from that, it's probably because one of their tasty rotating daily specials has piqued my interest. The fresh squeezed orange juice here is the fox's socks. I'm never disappointed. If your day starts with Daddy-O's, you know it'll be a real ripsnorter. I bring friends and family here and talk the joint up like a hot new girlfriend. The staff are somehow always happy to see me; smiling brightly even when I roll in at 10AM with one eye open, missing a slipper. These things, plus an upbeat atmosphere and reasonable prices make them the cat's pajamas in my book. read more

We stopped in just before close and the waitstaff was awesome! They even got us a sample of the Blackberry Baked Oatmeal. It was delicious! I ended up ordering the sausage Biscuits with gravy with sausage links extra crispy and it was fantastic. We will definitely come back! Once again relied on reviews and found this great place! A cute diner with license plates lining the walls. Amanda was our waitress and was very friendly and attentive. I had the turkey panini with Brie and cranberry along with the homemade fries. It was awesome! My husband had the chicken salad sandwich which was also very good. Too full to try any of the desserts. The bathroom was also very nice with various Audrey Hepburn quotes. Definitely need to try this place out! read more
