Dined here with my wife and another couple on 03/18/16
All four of us are over 60 years old and dine together regularly.
I must say that it was the best fish fry I've ever had.
UNFORTUNATELY, our server seemed to be in a bad mood while we were as pleasant as we always are wherever we go. This server would not even smile. Please note that I am not a complainer or troublemaker when it comes to restaurants and very easy to get along with---even if the dining experience is a bad one.
That being said, my wife asked the server for a takeout box for her Veggie Head sandwich before we were presented with the check. The server left, then came back with no take out box and asked if there would be anything else and we said " just the takeout box". The server came back with the checks but no takeout box turned around quickly and began to run back to the kitchen when I said as she was running, "Excuse me, me, but I'm not signing the check until
my wife gets her takeout box". I said this in a humorous way, but the server being in the negative mood she was in all night evidently did not see the humor in my request.
She shouted in a combative and nasty tone, "Well I'm busy and just doing my job!"
At this point I was fed up with her nasty attitude and responded by saying, "Well it looks like you can do your job a little better doesn't it"?
With that, she stormed off with her back towards us again yelling how busy she was and doing her job and then yelled and I quote, "Kiss my a--!"
Evidently she didn't think we heard the "Kiss my a--" remark since her back was toward us while she stormed off, but I can assure you that the 4 of us at the same table heard it plain as day along with the other diners within her shouting range.
She then came back to the table with the takeout box and literally flung it on the table.
I didn't want to create a scene, so we left instead of asking for the owner. Of course I left no tip, paid just for the meal and drinks with a note on the check stating that the server was rude, unprofessional and disrespectful for the "Kiss my a--" remark and as a result, she could now kiss mine.
I called the restaurant after I got home and asked for the owner and was told that the owner was not in but will call me back after leaving my name and phone number and the nature of my call. I did so and told the lady on the line that I wanted to talk to the owner about my dining experience.
I will let you know the owners reaction on this forum if and when the owner calls me back.
In the meantime, I'll let you draw your own conclusions about this restaurant.
THE SERVER'S NAME IS SHELLY (not Sally per my previous post)

UPDATE: Well it is Saturday morning 8:00 AM 03/19/16 and I am happy to say that Dave, the owner called me. The fact that this gentleman called me first thing this morning is a clear indication of his loyalty to customer service and his restaurant.
In a nutshell, Dave is appalled in the way we were treated, considers it grounds for immediate dismissal and will be firing Shelly tonight.
That being said, and in knowing that future diners will not have to be subjected to Shelly's unprofessionalism, I encourage everyone to dine at Daddy O's. As previously mentioned, the food is excellent, reasonably priced and managed by a true professional gentleman.
Additionally, the atmosphere is one of a good old family bar and grill.
May I recommend the fish and chips?----Best ever!!! read more
