On the day of the install, the tech calls and said "I dont have the parts, they didn't tell me I needed them." Then, on the morning of the second appointment, the tech called me and said, "Okay, so it will be $651." Yes, almost THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS more. It remains, frankly, unacceptable that Safelite doesn't let you get anyone on the phone to discuss issues. This has been both my experience and that of a family member, who had worse issues with Safelite than I did (In their case, they installed a defective windshield and damaged the vehicle's electronics). My issues are that Safelite broke plastic parts when replacing my windshield some time ago, and the rear view mirror was attached so poorly that it not only came off but took a piece of the windshield with it. Could not get anyone on the phone to discuss. I went to a Safelite location today, and they made an appointment to replace my windshield under warranty. I was not given an argument at any time that the problem might have been my fault. Extra credit for that (and for sure, it wasn't my fault). It's still the case that the original replacement of the windshield should have been done on-site as originally ordered, as at the time Safelite lacked the means to do a calibration on my car (the latest replacement, under warranty, included a vehicle calibration, for which I am thankful). Nonetheless I've upgraded my rating to four. But Safelite, please, find a way to have representatives either talk by phone or chat with customers online, even if it's just to discuss the situation and tell us to visit a Safelite location.
