They have an in-store vet which seemed very popular the day we visited. The staff were super-friendly and helpful, the store was well stocked with a great selection and everything was totally affordable. They even sell smaller pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and LOADS of degus which are so cute (although my other half didn't seem as keen). All in all a great, affordable pet store. It took me about 15 minutes just to get to speak to someone of the staff. I wanted a male and a female bunnies, but I have been told they only sell either ones or the others. Really don't get the point of that policy, as if I am determined in having a mixed couple, I will then go to another shop and get the missing one there. It only results in unpleased customers and loss of sales. However, the staff member asked me where I was going to keep the bunny, and I said I think in my garden. He said I'll have to get a cage first, because of foxes, and I agreed. I have been shown several cages they had in the shop, but when I've asked if I can get home delivery, they had no clue of how much would that cost, or when that could be done. They have suggested to purchase and get delivery on-line, but they also have said that pets cannot be delivered and would have to get back to the shop and pick up one myself. I have asked if I could get the rabbit and keep it inhouse, until the cage gets delivered, and the answer was a no-no: they can eat cables and furniture. Strange, I thought that was not exactly of their business, and I should feel free to decide if I want get my furniture eaten, but again they have their policy, which is probably "we don't want to sell rabbits". Fine, that just means that I have to get home (after wasting half a day to get there), make an order online (again, why them? there are so many websites, even cheaper, therefore loss of sales), wait for the delivery, and then come back to the shop to let them ask me the same questions (would it be enough if I tell I have purchased a cage or will I have to show a proof of that?), and MAYBE finally purchase the rabbit I wanted. Of course that is not going to happen, as I'm afraid they've done enough to loose me as a customer.

Before I discovered this pet supplies store, I was buying from Amazon, which was often sold out of the only type of litter I liked. When I found this store, I saw they had a huge selection of everything, from dry and wet cat food, to raw treats to litter, toys...you name it. Prices are really competitive - beats or matches what I have found on Amazon but without having to wait for shipping. Their membership card is free and a portion of the store's proceeds go to charity of your choice. You can also find small pets here: small birds and parrots, gerbils, rabbits and chinchillas. They also have dog grooming. Those who say you can get a better deal at Tesco obviously aren't picky about the quality of products they are getting for their pets. I don't buy my cat any processed junky crap you find at Tesco and Sainsburys - I once had a cat develop IBS as a result of that sh*tty food. I only buy grain free organic now with as few ingredients as possible. I want my cat to live a long healthy life and stores like this make it possible. Keep your Tesco crap, I care too much about my kitty baby to feed him just anything. Well done, Pets at Home.

Old fashioned pet store…read more It's old fashioned in as much as its laid out in a fashion more akin to a store in an Istanbul souk rather than the modern minimalist clean cut ways of the west. Stacked to the rafters with pet parafenalia it's the place to get all your pet needs met. For fellow cat owners they sell catnip mice that cause our cat to go a little mental and within a couple of days disembowel the cheap little toy. She loves 'em and it's a pleasure to watch her go mental.

Went back later the same day because 1 of the gold fish seem to be unhappy so I thought may i ought to add some toys/decoration but the same person told me their just getting used to their new environment. He could have easily just sell me some decoration but he didn't which I appreciate and I will go back this week to get two more goldfish :)
