The layout of the store was fantastic, everything was clearly displayed so you wouldn't be walking around aimlessly for what you are shopping for. As for prices, I was pleased that everything was at a descent price compared to some other places I visited. The only bad point I have is that they were out of rats at that time, but with it being close to christmas It was understandable so I wasn't upset. Staff are willing to help and are happy to discuss the products. If you're thinking about buying one of the small animals, they discuss your choice through and can give you the main differences between the options to make sure you understand what you are taking on. They offer leaflets with care advice and tell you to pop in if ever you have a query or concern. They also offer a range of fishes and fish tanks.

Desborough Pets is a short walk from the main shopping centre Eden in High Wycombe town centre and does have parking closer but I think it is all pay and display. They stock pet products for many different types of animals and I am sure they can cater for just about anyone's pet needs. Definitely worth a visit if you can.

Old fashioned pet store…read more It's old fashioned in as much as its laid out in a fashion more akin to a store in an Istanbul souk rather than the modern minimalist clean cut ways of the west. Stacked to the rafters with pet parafenalia it's the place to get all your pet needs met. For fellow cat owners they sell catnip mice that cause our cat to go a little mental and within a couple of days disembowel the cheap little toy. She loves 'em and it's a pleasure to watch her go mental.

They have a variety of livestock in the shop, either for sale (guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, hamsters, birds, fish etc.) or to "help" customers (a beautiful cat and several lovely dogs). The livestock are always healthy and live in clean environments. Its is always a pleasure to shop here and i would not buy a pet from anywhere else!

I have 3 chickens and could find very little for them except a little bit of bird food. There is a reasonable selection of homes for small furry animals and some bird cages too. There are lots of dog collars and 'clothes' as well as balls and toys. There is plenty of parking outside. You can only access the shop from the road if you are going in a westerly direction as it is not possible to cross the dual carriageway so you may need to carry on to the roundabout and turn around.

As our pets have aged the usual needs come into place, such as low fat diets, pancreatitis and in one case diabetese, which require specialist knowledge of products and the effectiveness of different brands. I would probably say the only slight disappointment is lack of stock change in terms of clothing for dogs, stylish boutique leads/collars & fun products....there rarely seems to be anything new to buy on a whim. Finally if I have seen anything in terms of food or cat/dog toys online or advertised, I have asked the team if they could get the product in which they have done willingly. All in all, I would say the St Albans branch are a great team, offering a great selection of products and good service...sorry that the previous reviewer didn't have the same experience.
