I ordered their Combo Plate: two scoops rice sprinkled with furikake, crab potato salad, fried noodles, and two proteins. I chose garlic fried chicken and teri beef. It was so good I actually cried a little. Living on the Big Island, everything was so far, and I couldn't satisfy my cravings easily -- so finally having a real plate lunch felt like comfort and home all at once. I hadn't been back since, mostly because they don't have a set schedule, and whenever they were close by, Bubba would be napping or I'd find out too late. But today, I finally got to go again -- and this time I brought Bubba. And she remembered me. "Weren't you pregnant last time?" she said. Such a small thing, but honestly an amazing memory and such a warm customer experience. Bubba and I had a little sidewalk picnic together. He tried fried noodles for the first time, loved the teri beef, and of course devoured the rice -- his forever favorite. I saved half the plate for my boyfriend since he's working. Got there this time after 11:00 am. I think it was about 11:20. I was 3rd in line ordering. I ordered the after school special plate includes 5 rolls taegu Kim chee sushi rolls and 4 pieces boneless fried chicken. The rolls were tasty and the fried chicken was crispy skin and a lightly salted. Told the girl inside the truck we looked for you guys last week thursday and you guys wasn't there. She started to laugh explaining why they weren't there but I cut her off and said that day we came back 3 times couldn't find them we went home. LOL. Took a picture of their menu. I started talking to him about the family business and how his Mom & Dad has been making and selling Lau Lau and Pipikaula for years. They make their authentic food and also sell plates at the Kapolei Don Quijote parking lot and Kroc Center Night Market. I bought some Laulau and there were juices in the bag and it was wrapped in foil. I bought the warm Laulau they also sell it cold so you can store at home . I heated it up and it was the best Laulau I ever ate. Juicy, the meat was so tender and tasty. The taro leaf was cooked to perfection. I wish I bought more & will try some Pipikaula next time. Maybe if they sell some plates more people will know what a gem Papa Laulauz is.
