I ordered via a food app, so got a text stating that the order would be ready in 20 minutes, and they were true to their word. They have meal deals and it cost only $30 for the two family pizzas. They didn't have any family size boxes left, so the pizzas were placed in the party size boxes. This pizza place is better for take away than eat in as they only have a couple of tables and pretty simple decor. New owners took over three months ago. As for the pizza, plenty of topping, so much in fact that it was hard to know if there were any anchovies until I could taste them. The ham was a little too processed for my liking. The crust was on the thinner side with a crisp edge. Certainly value for money for a decent feed.

That means this place has been in existence for more than 40 years. That makes you stop and think. I needed to try this place, I needed to know HOW a pizza place could last for more than 40 years. I got my answer the moment I entered the place. The first thing you see when you enter is a big black beautiful wood oven. This thing has seen many years of service and it's still working its magic today. The rest of the place looks like it hasn't been upgraded for as long, but the secret has to be in the food, right? RIGHT! We had our pizzas packed and journeyed home. It was long drive, let me tell you. The smokey smell of the pizzas was amazing. When we finally bit into them we were not disappointed. The toppings were plentiful and the taste was an experience that only a good old fashioned wood oven could provide.

Lot's of gourmet and experimental topping choices, like white pizzas with béchamel sauce, cheeseburger pizza or butter chicken. Yup, that's cool! My partner and I are a sucker for a classic pizza though. Anything with olives, anchovies, good quality ham and always adding spinach. So, the "Killer Tomato" it was. Good base, not too thick or thin. The sauce was tasty and the toppings were high quality. I think that the ham they used ontop was smoked lachsschinken. Look, this is not a gourmet pizza shop. We thought we'd be modest an just order one 12 inch Frutti di Mare (seafood) and a bottle of wine to share (funnily enough sipped out of those promo wine cups that you collect from various wine events and functions over the years). But after devouring this crispy based, sweet tomato sauce covered, melt in your mouth seafood pizza we decided we couldn't stop at one. The Truff Truff was next - a creamy, cheesy base of truffle oil, cheese, dried mediterranean herbs and more cheese. Forget manners, there's no forks or plates here and the owner really couldn't care less if you came in or not. He does what he loves and I think even if there were no customers in store he would be happy. Not once has our pizza been befouled by dirty shrooms or stinky fish. However, the pastas, which we have only ordered once, have a lot of melted cheese throughout which was not popular with our guests and made for a lot of inedible leftovers. None of these baby bowls of limp lettuce, it was honestly one of the best salads I've ever had an a hugely pleasant surprise at only $12. I would happily have just that salad with a loaf of crusty bread to tear chunks from. Leave room for the gelato bar, which is now a major feature of the store. I would recommend a flavour but they are all extremely good and worth the price. This store has a high number of staff and does a ripping trade in takeaway, while few people seem to eat-in. When you do stay the staff are courteous and attentive though. It's not really an ambient place to eat, but I would put up with a lot for that good a salad.
