We learned all the do's and don'ts, how to ride and guide the horse, and then we were off. The creek trail was a nice nature ride, super peaceful and relaxing. Our instructor made us feel comfortable every step of the way, and the horses behaved amazingly, making the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. It is clear the entire team cares for the horses' well being. I travel often for my job and I don't have any concerns or hesitations that my horse isn't being taken care of while I'm gone. Tobey is very communicative and accommodating. A few months ago a larger stall opened up and it was an easy transition to the new stall. Since I've been boarding here, a few renovations and updates to the property have taken place, leaving the ranch one step closer to Tobey's vision for the space. I have spent the most time with Nyna between lessons, trail time and just running into her while at the barn. She is the life force of the ranch and keeps feedings, stall cleanings, lessons, farrier and vet appointments organized. She has spent a lot of time with my horse during lessons and turn out time. You can feel how much she genuinely cares about every child and parent who comes through. She made everything feel so thoughtful, intentional, and special for the kids. Every little detail felt considered, and it created such a warm, welcoming environment. All of the animals are clearly so loved and well cared for, which made the experience even more meaningful. You can tell this isn't just something she runs, it's something she pours her heart into. The next day, she hosted my group of friends and it was just as incredible. We all had the best time and made the sweetest memories with our babies. It was one of those experiences you wish you could bottle up and relive. We will absolutely be coming back again and again. I asked if she is really comparing a special needs child to a fully abled one and they didn't seem to understand the opportunity to share how to be inclusive and supportive of kids who need a little extra help. We've been customers of Happy Hens for years. Even after moving, we've continued to make the 1hr…read moredrive to the farm because we genuinely like supporting this small local business. That's why we were extremely disappointed to purchase a flat of eggs directly from the farm on 9/11, only to learn afterward that Happy Hens had issued a voluntary Salmonella recall on 9/8. CDPH specifically states that recalled eggs were available for purchase directly at the Ramona farm. My understanding is that the FDA found Salmonella Enteritidis in 2 of the farm's 7 hen houses, and whole-genome sequencing showed that the Salmonella matched the strain found in sick individuals. As of September 8, there were 23 reported illnesses and 7 hospitalizations. We are reasonable people and understand that investigations happen and that things can go wrong. What we cannot understand is being allowed to purchase a flat of eggs after a voluntary recall had already been issued, without anyone saying a word. They were happy to take our money. Had we known, we obviously would not have purchased the eggs at this time. After years of intentionally supporting this business, we feel completely blindsided. This has seriously shaken our trust. Very disappointing.
