Upon entrance to this establishment, our expectations were similar to that of a fine dining experience paired with the wonderful view that this restaurant provides. I must say, the environment was fancy, the decorations - pleasant to behold, and the view - stunning. However, the primary roots of my two out of five stars comes with the attentiveness of the servers and the portion size of the food. The Caprese salad was wonderful, the tomatoes were well seasoned and the buffalo mozzarella was very delicious. The bread that they served was also soft, fluffy, and yummy. Our entrées consisted of pasta, Seabass, and red mullet, after waiting 30 minutes for our entrées we were shocked to behold that not much food was given, and we were left feeling hungrier than when we had arrived. The red mullet fillet was perhaps 1 ounce and came with four individual muscles, enough to satisfy a mouse or perhaps a small Chihuahua. The Seabass fillets were substantial, however, they were paired with two thin slices of zucchini, and four small individual russet potatoes, again enough for a camping portion when you are in the mountains. The pasta was good though! All in all, although the servers were nice, we did have to wait quite some time to be served and to receive the check, the food was good tasting, but the portion sizes diminished the experience and left us hungry. Hungry enough, perhaps, to purchase four full-size pizzas immediately after leaving this establishment. Which we did. Because we were still hungry, and this is not to add to the typical stereotype that Americans eat a ton of food, just the entrées were quite puny and the price point was high enough to set our expectations very high. This is a long review, and I would like for it to be communicated that this is purely not harsh feedback but rather constructive criticism based upon our experience. I loved this restaurant! The views were stunning! It was our first big hit in Postiano and when we were walking to check in with our Airbnb, we walked by this beautiful restaurant. Reservations were easy to make. We ordered the Seabass, Ravioli, and Rigatoni dishes. We also got complimentary breads and this little pizza! It was a bit doughy, but it was complimentary so why not! The assortment of breads was lovely. I really liked the dishes. Of course it's all more on the pricey side but you're also paying for the view. With that being said, the dishes didn't wow me too hard, but they were still delicious entrees. We also ordered a bottle of wine for the table. Definitely one of my new favorites! Up the stairs (a lot of stairs) from Punto Regina hotel is Da Gabrisa. I was looking for a place we could sit outside and see a beautiful ocean view. We found it here. Sitting is a little odd in that the road sits between the outdoor tables and the restaurant, but the cars drove more carefully and later at night it wasn't as busy. The food was excellent. Everyone raved about their meals. I chose the sea bass (branzino) and it was excellent. It had a nice seared top but the fish was flaky and tasty. It came with potatoes and grilled veggies. It was so good. One person at our table wasn't sure about the coffee fettuccine noodles. No problem to substitute homemade spaghetti. We started the dinner by sharing 2 cheese plates among 6 people. It was just the right amount of food to start. The cheese was presented by age. All quite excellent. We also each got a chef's special of deep fried pizza. The bread was so good as well. A great compliment to the meal. Everyone got dessert at our table and all the sweets were enjoyed. Service was excellent. We were very well taken care of, including small wraps for all who were feeling chilly sitting outside. Excellent experience! read more

A great place to get a beautiful view of the town. The food was pricey but that's typical in Positano. Our waiter would be hard to track sometimes but overall the experience was nice. This was one of the best meals I've had in Italy. This was a veal cheek with a potato croquette that was stuffed with cheese. The veal cheek was beyond tender, seasoned and the sauce was amazing. Came here for lunch on an overcast day. The view of the city must be pretty nice when the weather is better. The food was absolutely delicious. The ravioli alla Nero was phenomenal, I would 100% recommended it. They also had some craftbeer from Campania which was a pleasant surprise to see. Outdoor seating by the ledge is a beautiful experience but since it was so windy, we had to go back inside where it was less appealing. Just a bit bright but not horrible looking. Definitely recommend the friend zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta. Fresh and delicious. The big pasta with meatballs were really good. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was hearty and damn good. The mixed seafood risotto was excellent. The best thing I had however was the lemon sponge cake. A higher level in Positano both in it's location & cuisine. By far the best dinner I've had during our stay & this is dinner #3. Less traffic in the more residential neighborhood helps set a more relaxing dinner al fresco. The hostess & waitstaff were friendly & knowledgeable & all four of our entrees were superb. I was a little more daring trying sea urchin for the first time - the TAGLIOLINI AL NERO DI SEPPIA CON RICCI DI MARE E LIMONE was sublime. I appreciated the chef relaying to me via our waiter the advice to toss the pasta before eating. The pasta was so light & flavorful - truly tasted like the sea. My fellow diners enjoyed their sea bass & "Positano style" spaghetti with conch, clams, smoked cherry tomatoes. Lots of vegetarian options too. We all decided if dinner was superb, dessert must be wonderful too & we were not disappointed - the banana soufflé with salted peanut was divine. Such a great dining experience. Great views abound! Warm and welcoming spot. If staying at Art Hotel Pasitea they won't suggest this place which is right next door since they won't get a kick back. Positano is such a beautiful place to begin with, but, if you're looking for a romantic restaurant, I highly recommend Da Gabrisa. It's halfway up from the beach. So, there are much fewer people and it's quieter in that sense. If you're seated outside (and you definitely should be!), it's noisy because of all the cars and scooters that zip by. Despite all the traffic noise, I think you should sit outside, particularly one of the small tables across the street from the restaurant/hotel, for the amazing view of the city and the ocean. We stayed at the connected hotel, Villa Gabrisa, so we came to the restaurant a few times since it was so close and so good! The staff is super friendly and quick. The food was amazing, I'd definitely recommend for vegetarians as well! There's complimentary mini appetizers and sourdough bread, as well as consistently delicious dishes. Nothing we had was bad or just okay. As a major plus, the view is amazing from the outdoor seating, especially when it's sunny. read more

DaGabrisa It appears that Da Gabrisa has a philosophy of doing a few things well. They offer a limited menu but everything we tried was perfectly prepared and presented. The restaurant is located fairly high-up on the hill which provides the outside tables with outstanding views. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a 3 minute walk from Villa Yiara for our 7.30pm reservation. Our first course included a shared salad and a shared octopus starter.. Both were excellent. The main courses included the Branzino (fish) and veal cheek. We capped off our dinner with a lemon sponge cake. The wine list is extensive, but I just had a glass of their house red. Da Gabriosa has amazing views over the Fornillo area of Positano and the people working there are very nice. We started with drinks and an appetizer, but then decided to go elsewhere for dinner. The cocktails were expensive and just bad. I ordered a Bellini and what came out was 85% peach nectar and only 15% Prosecco. The drink was like sludge. For the price tag of 10 E you'd think you could get a better split. My husband's martini was watered down and had no bite. Very disappointing for the price. We also got the cheese plate, which was pretty good but was accompanied by no explanation of what the various cheeses were or suggestions on how to pair with the walnuts, jams, and fruit the cheese was served with. The pistachio white cheese had an area with mold that did not look like the good cheese kind. I liked the rest. Overall I just can't recommend this restaurant, even with the beautiful views. Maybe stick with beer or a glass of wine instead of cocktails if you go! read more

We stopped here for our first (attempted) meal upon arrival at Positano as it was close by and open at the time between lunch and dinner...most places weren't open from 3-6 unfortunately. So we tried to make due at this place. They only had a limited "snack" menu of 5 items, which was disappointing. We ordered gnocchi with tomato basil mozzarella for 16 euro and crispy calamari/shrimp for 22 euro. The texture of the gnocchi was pasty and unpleasant, not light and fluffy like the ones we had in Rome and Florence. Consequently my wife only ate a small portion of the dish, despite being quite hungry. No one came to check on us after delivering the food, which is a pretty big lapse in service. The calamari was surprisingly good, tender with a crispy exterior, there just wasn't much of it...2 shrimps and 4 pieces of calamari...for 22 euro! Maybe the prices are just higher here?? What really soured us on this place was when we offered some feedback on the gnocchi (when the server came to ask us how the food was at the END of the meal), the server just responded by saying people come from all over for their gnocchi, and when we compared it to the meal we had in Florence yesterday, she took umbrage with the statement and declared they don't know how to make gnocchi in Florence. Ummm ok. You could just hear us out and possibly offer something else instead as we didn't eat much of your acclaimed famous gnocchi. I just hope there are better offerings here in Positano as this place was mediocre at best. Bottom line: this place is over-priced with service lapses. Don't order gnocchi if you want light fluffy pillowy kind, theirs is dense and pasty. read more

My hopes were up high for this restaurant. We stayed at the hotel that the restaurant is located in and breakfast each day was incredible so we thought dinner would be also. Unfortunately we were underwhelmed. The appetizers were good, the wine and beer selections were great, but our main course was not. My meal was the seafood risotto. It came out cold, the risotto was VERY al dente and the seafood was rubbery. My husband got a pasta dish with similar issues- cold and too al dente. The wait staff here is wonderful and if you're an American looking for a good IPA beer, this is your place. Otherwise, I don't know that I'd go back for dinner. read more

We started with two gin mixed drinks, both of which were phenomonal. We also tried a bottle of barbaresco that the owner recommended, which was great. Their drink menu was extensive and there was something for everyone to enjoy. As a starter, the burrata and tomato salad was great. For main courses, we tried the branzino, lobster pasta, and the cannoncini ragu. We finished every single bite! Each dish was exceptional. One of the best meals we have had.
