After a bit of research, it was suggested to train in Muay Thai at my age, after further research, and visiting and speaking with head instructor Wahsei I made the decision to train at Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts. I have been only training, for a little over a month and I am really glad I started Muay Thai and chose to train here. Head instructor Wahsei is extremely patient no matter what your skill level is. He is extremely knowledgeable in a multitude of martial arts and spends a lot of his own resources to attend further trainings and seminars in order to improve upon his own training and teachings. A great example of this, is when I had some issues getting my foot work correct during a drill. Instead of trying to keep the drill up and causing frustration for myself, he switched to two different drills that covered the same exact principle but was easier for more to conceptualize. The students in the classes are very patient as well and are very welcoming. You can easily tell they are well trained, disciplined, and follow the golden rule. If they see you struggle with a concept or drill, they will stop and help you within the moment to get you back up to speed. They understand they were beginners once as well and are always willing to help you. Not a lot of people have that mentality. The facility is well equipped, extremely clean, and always being updated. I have really enjoyed my time here so far. I am starting to feel better about myself and have been getting into a routine for a healthier lifestyle. If you are thinking about a martial art, whatever skill level you are, do not wait (I wish had not) and stop by or contact Head Instructor Wahsei.

Both have learned so much. The head instructor Wahsei is absolutely amazing...he is knowledgeable, patient and thorough. Discipline and confidence are some of the key things he tries to build into his teaching which I appreciate. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn mixed martial arts!

It's a…read moresmall family owned martial arts school and you can really feel that family atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming they make you feel like part of the team right away. The facility is clean and well maintained and you can tell they take pride in their space. Starting in 2026 they'll be introducing a dress code so everyone trains in the same uniform which I think is a great idea to build unity. Each class is about an hour long and for adults there's a sparring session afterward at no extra cost just people helping each other improve. It's been an awesome experience so far and I'm looking forward to continuing my training here.

When Coach Ted opened his new gym we wanted to check it out and see the good work him and his wife were putting into their new venture. This Jiu Jitsu gym is unlike the others locally, it is not all about revenue, profits or competition. They are very family oriented and the most affordable around town. Not only is it affordable but they offering great quality training. They offer kids classes, adult classes, women defense classes, open mat training and private lessons. They accept all levels of Jiu Jitsu. Also first week is free. They don't do contracts, it is month to month so you are not stuck with a membership if you decide Jiu Jitsu is not for you. Coach Ted's daughter, Christina is very famous in the Jiu Jitsu community. She competed for years and won gold in many world wide competitions. You will also get to see Christina on the mat training as well. The gym is very clean, and a pretty good size for training. They offer free open mat time for kids and adults on Wednesdays which is where you will get to see people from all gyms come and hang out and roll. Another thing I love is coach Ted is all about the love of the sport and not pushing people to compete or to pay more for every little thing the gym offers. Great group of guys, small group setting. No pressure, you go your own pace, professor Ted is great and will answer your questions. Guys are happy to help you learn techniques. Recommend starting on Thursday, will give you time to think about what you have learned and give yourself time to rest on the weekend you'll be excited about going back on Monday to learn more.

I love the gym but the pool needs a better system…read more I've been increasingly frustrated with the pool experience at OneLife Fitness. This is the second time this week I've gone specifically to lap swim and found a children's private swim lesson being taught at an extremely loud volume right alongside the lap swimmers. Earlier this week, the instructor was so loud that several of us actually stopped swimming and were standing in the pool waiting for the lesson to end. I've swum during British Swim School classes with groups of toddlers and they were considerably less disruptive. Today was worse. I got into the one remaining open lap lane, only to have the same instructor tell me he was teaching a lesson in that lane. At that point I left the pool entirely. Even if I waited for another lane to open, the noise level made lap swimming anything but relaxing or enjoyable. When I spoke to the front desk, I was told there really wasn't anything they could do other than ask the instructor to be quieter. I suggested that, at a minimum, these private lessons should be clearly listed on the pool schedule so members know in advance when part of the lap pool will be occupied and can plan accordingly. I understand that swim lessons are part of a shared pool environment. The issue isn't that children are being taught--it's that paying members trying to use the pool for lap swimming have no warning that lanes may be unavailable, combined with a level of noise that disrupts the entire pool. OneLife needs a better system for scheduling and communicating private swim lessons so lap swimmers can actually use the facility they're paying for.
