Husband ordered tiramisu for dessert and liked it. *update*Our review started as 4 stars and now it is down to 1 as my husband got food poisoning from our meal in which he had the seafood pasta. By the following morning, he was incredibly ill on a train ride to Venice and we have already lost nearly a day and a half of our vacation. I know things like this can happen, but when it happens on our vacation and essentially ruins a trip to another city, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant. Original review-Da Eraldo's gets 4 stars because of the excellent service, amazing meat and cheese board, and the reasonable prices. I think if we had not had more amazing meals at other restaurants nearby, we would have liked it more; Yelp set the bar too high for us. If you come to Monterosso, or any of the other four towns, you MUST come here for at least one dinner - I'd recommend two dinners here. My fiancé and I shared the charcuterie and the seafood pasta. We are both bountiful eaters, but these two items were all we could muster. The charcuterie had 4 different meats, 5 different cheeses, 3 fruits, and assorted veggies. It was served with a basket of well over a dozen freshly baked biscuits (you'd cut each one in half to make a mini sandwich). This was the best appetizer we had during our stay in Italy (Rome, Florence, Siena, cinque terre). The seafood pasta was an adventure. Mussels, clams, octopus, squid and heavy noodles made this dish a great experience. Last but not least, our waiter. He was fearless, but more importantly, he was friendly and helpful - he is a unicorn amongst Italian servers. Without his help, we would have over ordered food and ordered the wrong type of wine. Friends ordered the other trio of pasta and it came out on a big "noodle", that tasted like a mixture between bread and pasta. We loved this place so much, we came back a second time even though we only had 3 dinners in cinque terre! Usually we will explore other places, but it was too good we had to come back. I got the carbonara which I highly recommend it was very good (I got it both times I went there). The other two people I was with got Gorgonzola and walnut pasta and a four cheese pasta which were both amazing as well. Their bread is awesome and house wine is inexpensive. We also had a caprese starter and the vegan salad and they were both great but nothing notably special. This was one of the best meals we ate in Europe. The tomatoes in our salad were very fresh, the house wine local, delicious hot bread, decadent pasta, and a great dessert trio (pistachio creme was to die for). However, most of our dishes came out dirty. Our salad plates came out with all kinds of food particles on them (not stains, you could wipe them off with your finger). We sent them back and got more dirty dishes in their place. We decided to just deal with it and not complain again. However, when my espresso came out after dinner, there was a chunk of tomato cooked onto the espresso glass! Disgusting!!! I love it that all the photos on Yelp of this restaurant seem to be of the Antipasto. There is a good reason for this - it's the most amazing antipasto you will probably ever eat in your life! The restaurant was very small (max 15 people probably), but this only improved the experience. From our table we could see the single chief preparing the platter; shaving the ham, cutting the cheese etc, which was a great experience. If you are in Monterosso I strongly recommend that you try this restaurant and particular dish. Simply amazing. Ate here 2 out of 4 nights while in Monterosso. The charcuterie "appetizer" which is an appetizer are entree wrapped in to one was just awesome. I really enjoyed Da Eraldo. I had the pesto pasta and it was so life-altering, it is now the background on my phone. We also had some Cinque Terre wine, which was fantastic, and for dessert, we had the biscuits with nutella. I think they called it bread and nutella, but as someone from America, they remind me more of flattened warm biscuits. Everything was fantastic and I left with a very happy tummy. I would highly recommend the pesto pasta, by far the best pesto I have ever had (although before this I only had pesto from the grocery store, so maybe not a great comparison). The service was great, everyone was very kind and welcoming, and there was no hovering going on. So quite perfect. Given other good reviews, perhaps an isolated case but I had a terrible experience. We ordered some wine with our dinner and my glass was dirty. You may find some water spots even at high end restaurants but my glass was dirty as if it was not washed. I saw lip marks and water line mark. I couldn't believe she didn't notice it. It took a while but I finally got her attention and when I pointed it out to her there were no apologies but rather she looked annoyed. Food was below average at best and shortly after the meal I had an unpleasant experience... let's just say my stomach did not like what I just ate. The fantasia del mare was excellent in every aspect - presentation, taste, and originality. The chef even recommended the order of eating every fish sample in the fantasia del mare starter. The entrees were also very good. We ordered the trio pasta sampler and a meaty pasta. Both great. This restaurant hits the mark and is a gem in Monterosso. Every aspect of our meal was thoughtful, delicately prepared, hearty, and delicious. Hands down for the best Tiramisu so far during my Italy trip. While lady finger dipped in espresso topped with crushed hazelnut and mini chocolate chips added extra dimension of flavors. The ladyfingers were fully soaked with espresso giving a strong coffee flavor, but the added chocolate syrup over the cocoa powder countered the bitterness from the coffee, making a perfect balance. However, the mixed platter and seafood spaghetti were just mediocre. Although the flavor is good, shrimps from the pasta were spoiled-like powdery. The salted anchovies were super salty, half a piece and I put my fork down. I suggest you sit outside, with a glass of wine, enjoy it like an Italian. read more

After calling earlier in the day to find out that they were fully booked for the weekend, we stumbled past Da Eraldo to see a few open tables. Within a few minutes, the super friendly staff welcomed us in. To begin with, the house wines were delicious, especially when served up by our enthusiastic waiter. The aesthetic feels like a nice Italian kitchen right in the heart of the town where you could watch the chef make the pasta as you ate. Then, our meals came out. We tried the pesto lasagna, four cheese pasta, bolognese, sorrentina, and spaghetti. All of the pasta was homemade and delicious. The leftover sauce was put to good use with their homemade bread that looked like an English Muffin with a hard exterior and soft interior. After raving about the bread, they made us a fresh bag to take home. The dessert, also homemade, was yummy. The tiramisu and chocolate souflee were both pretty perfect.
