Me and my husband were in Rome for a few days and stayed at the Palm Gallery hotel on the Policlinico station on the blue line. This place was very close to our hotel and recommended by our hostess luisa. When we entered, our hosts didn't speak much english which to us translated to it being a non touristy place (which is what we wanted). There weren't any people with cameras which further confirmed that this was an authentic place frequented by locals. I requested my usual spaghetti Pomodoro but on second thought asked the owner if he recommended anything else. He politely commented that my choice was very touristy and recommended pasta with artichokes (no tomato sauce). I decided to order that along with Tripe stew. I was expecting an american version with large chunks of artichokes and bland spaghetti. BOY was i WRONG. OMG it was mindblowingly AWESOME. the flavour was subtle yet so powerful. OMG OMG OMG. it was awesome. The tripe stew was amazing and so perfectly cooked. the fake ass italian restuarants in boston serve overly cooked tripe but this one was perfectly tender yet maintained the texture. my husband got a type of ravioli that the owner's wife had made in-house filled with meat. it too was mindblowingly awesome. for dessert, our host (i think he was emilio), brought out two cakes fresh from the oven to show us our options. we chose one slice of each. The choclate cake was delicious but the beer and cheese cake stole the show. it was unlike anything we had ever eaten before.
If you want your standard touristy fare with lots of tomato sauce and cheese, please go somewhere else. if you want authentic roman cuisine, this is your place. Love Love love love this place and can't wait to return to italy next summer just so i can eat here. read more
