Such a beautiful restaurant! The rooftop part of it is so cute. The service was okay, it seemed that they didn't care too much about their customers. The food was good, but wasn't the best. The prices were high for food that you can get at any other restaurant in Rome for cheaper.

really cool bar with great drinks

Roman friends of ours in California turned us on to this incredible place and it exceeded expectations. We walked into what we thought was the entrance that ended up being a sister business owned by the same family downstairs from the restaurant and had cocktails in a really cool atmosphere with an incredibly friendly host and bar tenders. I would suggest doing this before dinner. Upstairs we were treated to an open, light and homey room with very attentive and friendly service. Then we got really quiet and I actually found myself moaning as I was eating the best L'amatriciana I've ever had in my life. My wife had the linguine con vongole which was its equal. I've been eating these dishes all my life and absolutely could not believe how good Angelina's preparations were. We then returned downstairs for some grappa and were treated like family. Just amazing. alla prossima!

Delicious drinks but the food was only okay (decent but not mind blowing). My favorite drink was the elderflower aper spritz!

Let me start by saying that this was the great splurge of the entire European adventure. This meal for 3 cost more than our lodging in at least two countries, but it was worth every last cent. Let's start with arrival, since this place has atmosphere! This is an old house converted into a multilevel dining experience. Each table in this establishment has a unique view, whether that be romantic garden balcony or the clean, bright dining room we were seated in. While our party did include a local quite fluent in Italian, the staff kindly brought us menus in English as well (since my American accent is unmistakable). Our waiter was also fluent in English, which made asking questions much simpler. Alas, the tale of the eponymous Angelina was not available in English, so only one of us could read the full details there. Not to worry, since our first courses zipped out of the kitchens quickly, moreso since we arrived well before the crowds. We can't recall the details of two of our appetizers, only that they were completely amazing. One involved some of the best roasted eggplant I've put in my mouth to date. Pictures are included, but I think they were seasonal specials since I can't identify them from the online menus as I review after the trip. For the second course, Raz and I ordered some of their pastas. Raz doesn't generally do pasta, but he was awed by the Carbonara. I went for the Cacio e Pepe, which is a simple dish of noodles, hard cheese, olive oil, and black pepper. The pasta was fresh, though, and that makes all the difference. I tried Cacio e Pepe every place that I could, and this was my favorite by far. Our third courses were slow in coming, as is expected, since European cultures tend to take more care over dinner conversation than we do in the states. To that end, I have to mention the acoustics of the place, which were excellent in that we weren't deafened by the echo and reecho of the myriad conversations from a house that was completely packed before our main courses arrived. That wait was worth it, as the dishes were even more impressive than our anticipation, especially Raz's octopus, which became our favorite in the world at the very first bite. Our local host had a tuna steak that was absolute perfection, and I went for the scamorza with prosciutto, which I think was technically a side, but completely a meal in itself, and decadent beyond imagining in its smoky, cheesy goodness. To top off our feast, we enjoyed the hazelnut and chocolate surprise of the tartufo, and the tiramisu which is right up in the top 5 that we've had in our lives. All in all, a stellar experience that we would recommend to anyone as a one-time splurge if they make it all the way to Rome

I went there last night. The staff was kind and attentive. The food was delicious yummy and I will be back. The restaurant is beautiful and the music set the atmosphere perfectly. I had some delicious cocktails that were mixed like magic. I think this might be my new favorite place in my neighborhood. I come to Rome 2 times a year, I definitely will put this place on my list! Thanks to the very good staff for amazing service!

I had the grilled octopus with grilled endive served with pumpkin sauces- not everyone will like the endive but I enjoyed it immensely.

My family and I started with the prosciutto and buffalo goat cheese served with oil and pepper, which was my favorite part of the entire meal. We also ordered a pretty good vegetable lasagna, a chicken dish with a delicious sauce, and two gnocchi dishes, including a carbonara-style one. Everything came out quickly, and there were unique items displayed around the restaurant that you could try and buy, which made the experience even more fun. We were so full from the appetizer that we only ate about half of the gnocchi. The owner noticed and kindly refunded those dishes, saying we should not pay for something we barely touched. That level of thoughtfulness is rare and left a huge impression on us. Overall, Masto is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food, quick service, and some of the kindest staff you will ever meet. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

We arrived as soon as they opened, and the Chef was very friendly and offered some samples of cheese including his burrata, which was incredible! Everything we sampled was delicious! We felt so special because we were the only ones there when it opened and it felt like we had a personal chef! The blueberry risotto and pasta were worth the walk over here! Loved this place! The ambiance was incredible!
