Years ago I used to frequent the UWS location for cocktails. This location seems more like a daytime cafe. It's a smaller location with bar stools against a narrow counter up front and tables in the back. I had a caramel latte and split the prosciutto panini and a hazelnut dessert with a friend. The panini was very good and we liked how they warmed it up. Unfortunately we were given the wrong hazelnut dessert. We were given the torte nicciola rather than the hazelnut cake. What we got was fairly dry. My latte was okay.

Da Capo was a flashback visit! It wasn't until I sat down and looked them up in Yelp that I realized I've been here EIGHT years ago! Today I felt like I was visiting a brand new cafe. Arona was the hostess that welcomed me, answered all my questions and provided the perfect customer service. My one uncomfortable feeling is the closeness of customers trying to get counter service and trying to get in and out of the cafe. We were bumping into each other! It's very long and narrow space. After I purchased my Apricot Croissant I was directed to the rear for seating. To my pleasant surprise I was able to conveniently get a table in back where I spread out to be comfortable. I found out later they have free WiFi. I didn't intend to stay long enough to be doing a lot of internet work. The croissant was absolutely delicious and just what I needed today. I would definitely get it again. I didn't have coffee but I did notice they don't have Sweet n Low. Good thing I carry my own in case I return for coffee. I'm upping my stars because it was a wonderful experience. I heard a lot of customers speaking Italian. I'm thinking that's a good sign! I know I'll be back to try the cookies and cakes that I spotted in the display case when I came in the door. YUM

EVERYTHING about this place is authentic. Charming owner and staff. Shop is setting foot in Italy and the paninis are incredible. Served Hot, crispy, melted fontina cheese, tomatoes, arugula- chefs kiss!!! If that wasn't enough....on my way out I heard the proprietor tell someone- "Don't worry if you don't have the money, you can pay me another time." HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Everything about this place is just wonderful. Feels like you're in Italy. The sandwiches and croissants are SO good and the coffee is also amazing. Everyone who works here is very friendly as well. Cute little neighborhood gem!

Came here on a whim after walking through central park and was delighted to discover an authentic italian coffee shop. We got a Mocha and Shakerato MOCHA - sweet, rich chocolate, smoothly blended with the milk and coffee. Do I suspect use of european chocolate in this delightfully rich mocha? probably. One of the better mochas i've had the pleasure of drinking fors ure. SHAKERATO The precursor to the hyped up shaken espresso drink we know at starbucks, the shakerato is essentially espresso shaked with ice to give it this foamy texture at the top. Simple, and doesn't include milk or added sugar. Not easy to find in modern cafes and honestly great to try just to know what the shaken espresso is based off - they make a good one but in general shakeratos are not as good as other coffee drinks you might be able to get.

Cute little shop. Tight narrow entryway to the back but love their decor. All I tried was the cappuccino so I can't say much. I did enjoy it and would like to try some of their other items.

Food 5/10 Ordered an almond latte and it tasted very mid. Not sure how much the atmosphere can save the flavor, but giving it a three star because I care about my coffee a lot. It's a shame because there were so many people out in the front chatting and just having a great time, super lively in the front, many people were sipping on espresso. The back area is more for sitting down. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Atmosphere 8/10 Lovely place to read a book or get some work done, super cozy and the lighting, the color of the walls, the entire back area is great. A lot of tables too! Good for catching up with friends. The only thing is that they don't have wifi, so if you need to go on the internet, you'll need to use your own hotspot. Service 10/10 Super friendly barista, loved the energy and vibes.

Have always been satisfied with salad, variety of paninis. All coffees are first rate. Staff very accommodating. Seating in rear of shop, stools in front with shelf to place food. Upper Madison Avenue a good getaway from the norm. Apricot croissant and Americano, delicious.

Walked in on a Friday morning and the cozy afternoon with coffee and a book vibe immediately hit me. It got a little busier around 9, but nothing crazy. I ordered the caprese panini and the bread on it was perfectly light and crisp. The panini itself could've used a little more flavor but overall good. Also ordered a latte, nothing special, but really enjoyed the handle of the coffee cup (slash kind of want one at home). Would come again for a morning article read and chill. Other notes: prices are reasonable for New York lol, and the service was great

5 stars and has over 103 reviews for a reason. I love this place! When I work around 98th street I look forward to come in this chic little cafe. They have pastries, croissants, and sandwiches food wise. A beer and wine bar as well. I'm only ever there in the morning, but Da Capo receives quite a bit of foot traffic. I can't forget to mention how friendly and awesome the staff is. read more

Great neighborhood cafe that I found on Google while looking for a place to stop for some hot coffee after roaming Central Park. Inside was very quaint! I ordered a latte and slice of tiramisu - Great combination! My husband ordered iced black tea, but it was not your typical tea. Overall, this was a great small business and I will be back for another cup of coffee when I'm in the city again. read more

One of my favs in the hood. Double espresso, an apricot stuffed pastry, the permanently great soundtrack that is always varied, and warm friendly staff. Sit for hours and work or talk. Completed beautiful renovation in late 2016 or early 17. read more

I had looked forward to trying Da Capo since they opened but the service is terrible. The guy at the counter barks out orders at customers and is very rude. The food is good, but with the bad service, this place is probably better for delivery. read more

i found this place by accident- i was looking for a quiet place to finish some work on my laptop, and when i saw the long empty bar table with an outlet, i was sold. my order was completed promptly, and, if it wasn't raining, i'd sit outside in the small outdoor space complete with wooden tables and chairs. quaint, and peaceful. read more

One of the few coffee places in Upper East serving genuine Italian espresso and the derivatives. Excellent quality coffee in chilled atmosphere with friendly Italian baristas. Additional pluses are the shady courtyard and the spacious, clean bathroom with the NYT on the rack. read more

So thrilled to have found such an adorable coffee shop near my apartment and with phenomenal espresso drinks too! The space is long and small, making it an intimate atmosphere. There's a good breeze that flows through the space & extra seating tucked in the back of the restaurant. They are in fact open on Sundays despite their yelp hours! The barista said they are planning on adding wine & more food to the mix too. I didn't try the food or pastries, but will definitely be going back. read more

Picked this place as a casual first date spot because of the great reviews and it certainly did not disappoint. I got a cappuccino with an extra shot that was delicious and brewed to perfection. The back area with tables was comfortable and intimate. I'll definitely be going back soon. read more

Da Capo is my favorite local bar. What brought me in was the atmosphere: European (especially Greek) or jazz music on Friday nights, warm ambiance, and solid selection of wines. What keeps me coming back is the staff. The owners and bartender made an effort to get to know me when I first came in and curtailed my experience so I had a wonderful night. And when I came back another time, they remembered and welcomed me. One of the gems of the East side. read more

i went back again the next day for breakfast! got the mocha (delicious) and chocolate croissant. the barista took time to pull the perfect espresso shot, then milk and chocolate, combining the two. it had so much depth and was perfect. however, the croissant was more "bun-like" than croissant-like, kinda doughy and dense, not buttery or flakey like others. meh, not good but i'm a fan of the mocha tho. read more

I think this is the closest cappuccino to Italian style that I've found in nyc. Something about the foam.....yum. Also they can make all the drinks with soy milk and they taste just like regular cappuccinos/lattes/etc. I actually watched them one day because the cappuccino is so good and the foam is so perfect that I didn't believe it was made with soy. But it was, I saw it with my own eyes. The iced latte is pricey but the best iced latte I've ever had. They also have cornettos with cream so you can live the dream here. The staff is incredibly nice, especially Brian who is awesome. They really set da capo apart from everywhere else on the UES. The food is small but always delicious, especially the pasta and the tiramisu. I have also analyzed every kind of cookie they carry and the tiny ones with chocolate and jam are the best. read more

A beacon of caffeinated light in a sea of Starbucks and Le Pains. Really straightforward, high-quality espresso and more. Great place to sit for a while: tons of room, laid-back staff. Ideal for a coffee, then a stroll in Central Park, then another coffee... I've been looking for a great small coffee shop in this area for a long time. This place has surpassed all expectations in this cafe desert. (Except for Juliano's on Lexington, but that's a hike!) read more

The thing I really like about this place is that there are plenty of places to sit, which is hard to find in nyc. They were also friendly. I got an iced americano for $3.50 (there was no iced coffee which was kind of a bummer). The bar area is cute. You can also have a glass of wine. read more

I was on my way home, and stopped by this cute little spot! I wish I could have dined in, from what I could see they had a cute dining area. I got the Cafe Mocha with this Apple Tart. Let me just say, that Apple Tart changed my life multiple ways! It was absolutely divine! The Mocha was super little (and I believe it was in the $4 plus range), and it honestly tasted more like hot chocolate. It was good, I was just expecting something a tad bit stronger. I will be back to dine-in! I recommended the apple tart thus far! read more

Really nice coffee spot. Nice ambience and comfortable sitting in the back. Nice to hangout, read a book or do some work. The baristas are really nice. If you want good coffee instead of going to the Starbucks on the corner go here and support a neighborhood coffee shop. Starbucks is killing all coffee shops around here. read more

Adorable cafe, with friendly service/staff. Charming...a village feel on the UES. Happened to be in area so stopped by based upon yelp reviews. Tried the Caprese Panini. Was ~$10. It was ok - was disappointed that the tomato and basil portions were truly scant...maybe one basil leaf if that and a sliver of tomato. So kind of overpriced for what it was. Maybe an off panini that day? Will possibly try the Tiramisu next time if in area. read more

This place is the bomb dot com. Cozy covered patio with ample seating, AMAZING espresso, and donuts the size of your head. My boyfriend and I sat in the back on a rainy Sunday for an hour with cappuccinos and a gargantuan coconut donut and had an awesome time. Super sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable baristas, unexpected table service, and I can't wait to go back for the sandwiches. Please check this place out - it's worth the trip. read more

The nicest people work here! We were visiting my brother in the hospital for a week and it was a rough time. The gentlemen working here made us feel so welcome and it was a good "get away" time. I stop at this little joint at least once a week for a cappuccino and a little cookie. Staff is friendly and well versed in their coffee and wine. Love having them in the neighborhood. The place is cozy, although a decent amount of seating in the back. Free wifi as well! Yeii!! read more

Came here with a group for brunch on a weekend. We sat in the back area and within an hour, it was packed - no distancing! I didn't think that was really responsible of the restaurant during COVID times. Our waitress was a complete saint and had to deal with over 20 patrons by herself. I felt so bad for her, but she had such a great attitude and her service was excellent - I don't recall the last time I had that level of service. I'm imagining since the restaurant was so short staffed, that there was only one cook in the kitchen, because my food was served an HOUR after I ordered! I was one of the very first to order, but everyone received their food before me! I thought maybe my order was forgotten about! I can't recall what I had ordered, but it was off their brunch menu. I thought the food was okay - I certainly didn't think it justified the prices. Not sure if I would ever return here again. Management needs to have a better handle on adequately staffing the restaurant. read more

Since my sister was in town visiting, I finally had an excuse to stop by to try their breakfasts. It was a simultaneous, instant decision to go with the amazing doughnuts on display! We tried both the cinnamon sugar and glazed doughnuts (over the course of two days!) - only later did we learn they were from Dough. Each doughnut was a little pricey ($3.50), but it was ginormous and very fresh and delicious. When we dropped by around 11am on Saturday, only 2 cinnamon sugar, 1 chocolate nib, and 2 glazed were left. At 10am on Sunday, only 2 glazed and 1 hibiscus were left. Moral of the story: go early for more options! The best part was the incredibly friendly staff. I'll certainly be back to try their paninis. This is one of my favorite coffee shops! Not only is the coffee amazing, but the space is chill and I always feel like I can sit and relax with a book for as long as I want. The desserts and lunch options are amazing as well. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow but I won't fault them for it since they do tend to get busy. Overall a great little coffee shop. I am used to five star restaurants however this place was very quaint. And the food was quite good.Our small group sat on the back patio and joyed a delicious lunch with a glass of wine.
