My friend referred me to Denise so I decided to check out her salon. Denise was able to take me in last minute and did an amazing job on my nails. I did Christmas nails last month. I am currently in love of my new Lunar New Year themed nails and have already received many compliments on them from friends. Her prices are very affordable. My last set of gel nails lasted a month! Text Denise at the number to make an appointment. You won't regret it. read more

First time getting a pedicure and Denise was the sweetest in making the whole experience personable, attentive, and relaxing. Her prices are great and lower than many of the places I called in the SGV, while offering a more personalized experience than bigger places where you walk in and feel like a number. My biggest concern were my heels which if you're like me and wear sandals/slides most of year - well you know it becomes far from the soft baby smooth feet we all aspire to have. There was no judgement throughout and she even gave us detailed tips on how to keep the reptilian heels at bay. Brought the boo and he really enjoyed the experience as well (she did an infinitely better job than when he trims the talons himself). We're happy to have the opportunity to support hardworking small business owners like Denise and will definitely be back. The yelp number is her cell and you can text for an appointment or ask q which makes it convenient if you don't like calling. Highly recommend checking her out! read more

I saw Denise yesterday for the first time. This was the first time I could actually communicate with my nail tech. She was gentle and kind. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure and decided to get my lashes done at the last minute. She is a one person shop. If you are looking for a good place with a good person and great prices, come see Denise. I recommend sending her a text message and be patient to her response. I promise you won't regret coming to her. Oh 1 more thing she does not use a drill on your gel nails. My old gal really messed up my nails so I am excited for my nails to become healthy while I continue to see Denise. The vibe is relaxing there too. read more

Came here for the first time not too long ago. I contacted Denise through text and was able to book an appointment. Denise made my visit so enjoyable and she is a great nail tech! This is maybe my 3rd time I've ever gotten my nails done because I've had a bad habit of biting my nails. I've let them grown out and treated myself to a gel manicure and my nails are so beautiful!! I've gotten so many compliments on my nails too! This is for sure my new nail spot, I'll always be coming back. Denise only takes appointments and there is plenty of parking on the street. Thank you for a great experience Denise! read more

Denise is awesome! She gave me one of the best mani/pedi's I've ever had. I found her on Life Booker and very happy that I did. She's a very talented girl. I got a basic gel application and it was absolutely flawless. It lasted for 3 weeks and I was thrilled. Cute space in a tucked away spot in the back on Melrose and Fairfax, which means I can walk, which is always a plus in my book. I will be back for more! read more

Love Denise's work, always walking out satisfied. She takes her time and efficient. Easy to talk to, easy to book as well which I love. Very patient and understanding. She helps me pick out colors and is attentive with what styles/colors you want. I'm an indecisive person so I could never make up my mind but I'm glad she handles that well hehe.. sometimes you might prefer somebody to do nails quick but quick doesn't mean efficiency. I enjoy being one of Denise's clients. There's always Netflix on so time goes by pretty quick. She's funny, friendly, and helpful. I think what I like most is not rushing her work & easy booking. Anyway, I don't like big crowds/places so this location is the best for someone like me who prefers small place. I RECOMMEND coming here. read more

I found out about this salon because of Groupon. I purchased a one manicure deal for $10 (normally $15), and I upgraded to a gel manicure for an additional $10. I also added a design to my nails ($3 per finger). I absolutely love my nails by Denise and I actually bought the gel package deal (4 gel manicures for $88, no expiration). This is my first time getting a gel manicure and I absolutely love it! Denise also has a good eye for color and I definitely trust her judgment read more

I have been meaning to post this review pre-Covid but didn't get a chance to. Denise always does a great job on my nails and I can feel assured I NEVER get bloody from cuticles being cut too deep. She's patient, treats me like a human, and professional. My nails always look amazing and my recent gel manicure pre-Covid lasted for weeks that I stopped counting! denise is the sh*t. not only does she do a stellar job doing nails in general, she'll squeeze you in if you break a nail and handle it asap. she's literally an easy text away. i usually hand her a pic of what i want and she mimics it exactly, takes her time, and makes sure it looks perfect. she's incredibly talented and has basically every color imaginable on stock. also, if you're looking to get something specific, she's absolutely perfect for it. her salon is quaint, clean, cute, has easy parking and her prices are super reasonable. i definitely feel like every penny with her is worth it. she works by appointment mainly bc she takes her time on your nails and doesn't try to cram her clients in back to back. if you want to make an appointment on yelp, she'll respond right away. when i first contacted her, i wrote her on yelp around 9pm on a sunday and she responded right away and got me in the very next day. i loved that! i recently cracked a corner on my index finger (i have natural nails) and she fixed it easily without applying a coat of acrylic on my entire finger. she just spot treated my crack with powder and glue! it was exactly what i wanted! people used to just slam acrylic on my broken nails and then my entire nail ends up being damaged. she knew what's up. love that!! i'm super loyal to all my beauticians and when i know one is a keeper, i'll def make note of it. i plan on coming back here now and forever! read more

Date of service: Wednesday, March 3, 2010 I was searching for a same day nail appointment with a nail salon that specializes in Minx Nails. Initially, my interest was in making an appointment at Extremedys, however, to my surprise, they are closed on Wednesdays. I am so lucky to have found Denise of the "D" Spot Salon, formerly located on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. Denise has now relocated her Salon to Kinross Avenue in Westwood. The "D" Spot sits inside of Ally's across from Buffalo Exchange and a news stand. The parking situation is awful, however, I am told there is a parking structure nearby that offers 2 hours of free parking. Denise is an absolute doll and the ultimate professional. She definitely treats her clients as if they were her own family. She is one of the few local professionals advertising her specialty in Minx Nails. I absolutely loved my minx nails. I have received numerous compliments about how gorgeous my nails are. What are "Minx" Nails you ask? Minx nails is like a foil or plastic sticker that is placed under a heated lamp and then placed on your nails (natural nails in my case). The basic Minx kit comes with gold and silver, therefore, those are the colors you are likely to see most often. Both colors look absolutely stunning, especially paired with animal prints, stripes or other designs. I got gold paired with leopard print and two other striped patterns. Love it! She really did an excellent job and I cannot wait to go back. Denise also specializes in personalized acrylic designs, eyelash extensions, waxing, permanent makeup, professional makeup, ear piercing, spray tanning, mani/pedis. She is offering a minx mani/pedi special for $115 this month. A Minx Mani/Pedi at Extremedys will cost you about $135. What I really appreciate about Denise is that she is fast and efficient. I like the fact that there are minimal to no distractions, so all of her attention is focused on you. I have recommended her to everyone I know and I definitely recommend you give her a try as well! I know you will love her as much as I do. When I am in the area, I will always visit Denise at the "D" Spot. read more

Reasonable prices and awesome selection of colors and gels. I used to go to Denise when she was out in West Hollywood, but now that she's here in the SGV - it's a lot more convenient for me to see her. Manis, Pedis, eyelash extensions, what doesn't this one-woman show do? :) Check her out, betcha you'll come back for more. Parking: Street or Lot. She's on the first floor of the TD building. $$ reasonable. read more

This nail salon is tucked away on the second floor of a two story plaza on the corner of Melrose Ave and N Fairfax Ave. They have their own small parking lot (some of the spots are tandem) with the main entry on N Fairfax, but you can enter through an alley on Melrose as well. There's a security guard who walks around collecting the car keys of people who've parked behind someone else. **WARNING: Only park in the lot that's designated for the plaza, otherwise you may be towed. The salon is small but there's a lot of space so it has a nice open feeling. There's floor length windows, cute decals on the painted walls, a neat rack of nail polish (they have O.P.I., Essie, China Glaze, etc, but kind of a limited selection overall), and really nice chairs. Denise, the owner, and the two women who I've seen work there are all very nice and easy to talk to. I visited this place a couple of times upon purchasing Lifebooker deals (http://la.lifebooker.com/). My first visit was phenomenal! Denise definitely knows what she's doing and did a fantastic job on my mani/pedi! I loved how she expertly applied a glitter gradient ($3 extra) on my manicure, which a lot of my friends mistook for gel. I was super pleased with the results! My only complaint was that it chipped really easily. My second visit, however, was not so great. I had purchased a $5 Lifebooker mani deal that seemed too good to be true...AND IT WAS. Don't get me wrong, the woman who worked on my nails was very helpful and sweet, but she did NOT know how to do a basic mani. My nails were filed unevenly and it hurt when she removed my cuticles. She applied three coats of Essie and it was thick, uneven, and bubbly. I was on a time crunch and judging by the poor job she had done, it was not going to be a quick fix so I didn't say anything. The mani only cost me $7 total, so I just let it slide... But seriously. Worst nail job I've gotten in my entire life. I feel bad for saying this because the girl was very nice and I could tell she was trying...maybe she just needs more training and practice? She is definitely NOT ready to work on customers, $5 deal or not. The mani was so bad, about two hours later when I was out and about, I hit my thumb on something and the top coat BROKE and nail polish squirted everywhere. That's how insanely thick the polish was applied. :( read more

Little place tucked in the corner. Parking in the back, really easy to miss. It's right across Willard from Spotlight, and it's in the same building as the TD building. There's also an entrance in the back, you'll see the sign. This review is for a manicure, but she also does lash extensions, permanent makeup, and regular makeup. Denise is super sweet! She speaks English fluently, and her salon is spotless. I think she has at least 100 colors to choose from which is cool! But the whole time I'm thinking, hmmm which shade of pink should I get... Also I really liked the hand massage LOL She's also the only one working so you know you'll get her 100% attention. I purchased a Groupon, which is the only way I found out about this place. I paid $10 to upgrade to a gel mani, and she forgot that I needed to pay at the end. So when I went to pay the difference, she said "no, you already paid on Groupon!" This shows that she's definitely honest! They also have packages, 5 manis for $50. Or 5 gels for $100. This is a steal! Other cheapie, "nail mill" places are similarly priced. But here... you get good service and cleanliness for the same price!! Also, she keeps her appointments! I didn't feel like it was rushed or packed like at other places. I was the only person there for my whole appointment hour. Honestly I thought this was going to be one of those run down, strip mall nail salons when I saw the price on Groupon. I was pleasantly surprised to find an immaculate, well kept salon! read more

Had the $20 Gel mani deal from Bloomspot. The salon is lovely... free parking in the back! I added on a pedicure and the price was reasonable. Good color choices for both gel and regular color. And though they don't have the full pedi set up with the built in sinks the chairs are super comfy and it wasn't awkward at all. They did charge $7 to remove old gel. Here's the thing... she charges $40 regularly for a gel mani. Now D Spot ALWAYS has deals on the sites, but why not just charge what other salons in the area that are about the same level of "nice" charge -- around $30... and get a loyal customer base? I'm never going to pay $40 for a regular gel mani - even if that includes removal of old gel. That's just too high for the level of salon this is. I can go to any number of places nearby and get the same level of service for $30... or go to a "mill" and get it for $25. And there was no lotion going on, no massage... nothing to set this apart from any other salon except the prices are higher. If you get a deal, grab it. It's a good place. But as a regular stop, the prices are too high for what you get. read more

If you are looking for a nail salon that is extremely sanitary, has a huge selection of the highest quality nail polish colours and brands (OPI, Essie, etc.), and have the friendliest and most qualified nail techs, then D Spot Salon is the place for you! I came in with a Lifebooker deal for a Gel Manicure and also got a regular pedicure ($22). I was so pleased with my service that I purchased 2 more gel manicures for future use! The salon itself is warm and friendly, just like the people who work there. They were happy to converse with me and they have a Netflix account! When I walked in, How I Met Your Mother was playing, and I already knew I was going to love this place! The salon is extremely clean and sanitary; they used a bowl for the pedicure as opposed to those whirlpool salon chairs (which are bacteria cesspools!) and completed my gel manicure and pedicure at the same time. I had an idea of the colours I wanted to use and relied on them to help me pick them out and it's like they were reading my mind! Did I mention how great the massages were with the services? They don't skimp on anything here! Sometimes when you use a deal like a Lifebooker, the salon treats you differently, but that is definitely not the case here. Denise and the rest of the salon were very friendly and conversational and I am really looking forward to coming back! read more

I've been here 3 times now for gel manis and I'm so pleased. There's no waiting around after your appointment, the salon itself is so clean and the colors are so nice and calm. They have a huge selection of gel colors and they're applied expertly. Loni and Kim (?) did wonderful jobs. Denise did a full acrylic set with no plastic(?) nail underneath and it was so perfect. Completely smooth with no bumps. Her subsequent fills looked as great as the original set. They have a huge selection of high quality regular polishes as well. Highly recommended! read more

Can I just start off with saying how this is the first time I had so much fun getting my nails done?! Denise is incredible! From the moment I walked in, she kept the conversation going. Denise gave me everything I wanted for my nails and she is also very professional. Relaxing with Netflix and awesome snacks. I only came in for a manicure and pedicure. I love the service very much. Denise was very sweet and I love her designs that she painted on my nails. She took her time to make it look perfect and make sure I will satisfy. I told her exactly what I wanted and she did exactly what I expected. I love the price here it's a very good deal. The price isn't overpriced like most places. The manicure I had done was gel. I love the Sparkle and the tiny cute arrows that she placed on my ring finger. Super elegant and cute. Adorable color combination. My toes are adorable too they were pink and sparkly. I can't wait to come back here again she scrubs off everything I need it under my foot. This is probably one of the best nail & beautyspas I ever been to it might be small but it's very nice and cozy inside. I'll definitely make an appointment within 2-3 weeks from now. read more

I came in today with my CoWorker and I am so glad I found Denise! She is great at what she does! Most nail salons roll their eyes whenever I ask for a design or show them a picture of something I want to do, but Denise was eager to do it and had such a positive energy. She was quick (which is great because sometimes they take so long that I start falling asleep!) and very detailed with a steady hand. I used a LifeBooker coupon which was great, so I recommend checking deals. We were offered drinks, which was great since it was SUCH a hot day, and had a great time at D Spot Salon. When it comes to nails I can honestly say from a health care professional's point of view-hygiene is VERY important. I usually go to places that use an autoclave, sterilize their cutters and instruments, do NOT have the built in foot tub (separate basin), great service, clean, friendly, calm environment, accessible parking, new polish with modern brands and up to date colors, and preferably comfortable leather chairs...in which D spot has ALL of this! Denise the owner of D spot is an adorable hard worker whose dream was to open up her own nail/hair salon. I came in early on a Saturday morning and was her first client. I was fortunate enough to have Denise as my pedicurist and was able to get to know her and her passion for her salon. She asked me to pick a color from the vase array of modern and new brands of polish. It was hard to make a decision. She offered me coffee, green tea, or ginger tea with honey. The salon itself is pretty big, clean, and has a friendly yet modern atmosphere. I sat on her comfortable leather chair and soaked my feet in a fresh batch of warm water within a clean basin. She was careful and neat with the procedure of cutting my nails to my liking, removing the dead skin, cuticles, and exfoliating. She used sterilized instruments and offered for me to take my polisher home. The way she painted my nails was very precise and I still have the polish on til this day...in which the appointment was already a month ago! NO CHIPS or BREAKING of the polish on my feet! Don't worry I asked to cut them really SHORT so it would have enough time to grow out and not look like DRAGON feet! I purchased a deal through Lifebooker and it was for a Lemon Pedicure which usually runs around $30..I got for $19! The Lemon Bliss pedicure includes an additional 10 minute massage and extra foot scrub. Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend D Spot for a safe, clean, and enjoyable pedicure! read more

She was great at suggesting which look would be good. I am happy with how my makeup came out. Now I know who can do my makeup for special occasions. Highly recommend her for your makeup needs! Worst gel manicure that I've had in a long time. The "dry manicure" (polish removal, cuticle trim, file, etc). was rushed and uncomfortable. My nails were not filed evenly-- I had to ask the nail technician to remove sharp edges after cutting them. She soaked my entire hand in acetone rather than just placing a cotton ball on top of my nail, so now, my cuticles are dry. There was no warm water to soak my nails and I didn't get a chance to wash my hands during the process. Worse, she scraped off my previous gel manicure in such a harsh way that my nails are currently breaking. Yes, my nails are worst now than before the manicure. D-Spot has a good selection of colors, but none were on display. You can't tell what the gel colors look like without seeing them actually painted. So, to pick my color, we had to just open the bottle and kind of guess what it would look like painted on. It was odd. Also, the color hasn't lasted well. One of my fingers chipped in 2 days. My usual gel manicure last 3-4 weeks. The women who work at D-Spot are very friendly. But the quality of the service isn't high. They need to treat clients' nails well as to promote growth and health. Instead, it looks like just a quick fix. Maybe if the staff gets its act together, I'd come back. But as of now, I'm returning to my little neighborhood salon. read more

I came here after purchasing a deal on lifebooker, actually two deals. One for a manicure pedicure and another for an eyebrow waxing. The place is on my way home from work so I thought it would be perfect. I called and easily booked an appointment. When I was actually getting my services done, it seemed as if they were receiving a lot of phone calls and were very booked. The salon is actually on top of another salon, a bit odd but I can go with it. D Spot is one woman, and a guy who answers the phone, maybe her husband? It is a little odd at first since I usually like the whole salon feel with other people coming in and out, listening to conversations, but you don't get any of that. I got over this quickly. My nails were done first and the job was well done. I like a simple manicure pedicure. It is a little odd since you don't get those nice chairs to sit in but it was fine. I loved how my eyebrows turned out. Many see my huge eyebrows and go crazy removing. She followed my natural eyebrows keeping them thick which I like but removing all the unwanted grossness. I enjoyed my experience at D Spot. read more

I've heard about eyelash extensions for a long time. When I finally got around to actually making an appointment to do it, I got really nervous. I was so indecisive on which type of eyelash extension I wanted. Luckily for me, Denise was sooooo helpful and nice!! She assisted me in picking out the ones that would work for me - natural looking and wouldn't touch my glasses everyday. She was so gentle and sweet, my eyes kept twitching but she was so patient and nice with me. I am SO GLAD I went to D Spot Salon and got the eyelash extensions!! They are so pretty, natural and luscious looking. My husband said he can't even tell they're fake but said they're "very pretty." No mascara or curling my lashes for months. Such a good investment. My cuticles often look like they've been through a blender. Bartending ain't easy on the mitts, friends! Neither is the nervous habit of picking at my dry cuticles in traffic... Well, the bar has been busy and traffic has been worse than ever, so before going out of town I knew I needed some manicure action, stat. I booked my first appointment with Denise using a Bloomspot deal I got a while back for a gel manicure. She does a simple and effective manicure that left my cuticles and nails looking flawless! Great, current colors to choose from (for both gel and regular manicures) and fresh tools give you a professional and thorough experience. She was also a joy to talk to the whole time and obviously very passionate about her business. Don't miss this great spot on the second floor at the corner of Wilshire and LaBrea!
