The proprietor of my B&B (Chimneys, also an excellent find) had recommended this restaurant. The waitstaff was just attentive enough, without being intrusive. I knew I wanted samosas; they arrived piping hot and were delicious. I'd asked for a recommendation for one of the six or so vegetarian choices and so went with the neramish (niramish). While not spiced as heavily as some Indian dishes I've ordered, it was flavorful and tasty. Super large serving, and I completely overate it as well as the biryani rice. It seemed like an odd choice initially, the interior and entrance felt like someone's living room and we felt like we stuck out as not being locals, but service was very friendly. It was obvious this is a popular spot in the area. It was very busy and the tables are close together. The decor isn't like your typical curry house, it is more like a pub. It's a kind of half way house between traditional and new wave joints. All the dishes I've ever had have been superb, whether meat or veggie. There's a bar upstairs where you can wait for tables if it's busy, but during the week, due to the size if the restaurant, it can seem empty. Friday and Saturday nights are normally better though.
