These are bewitching ladies, a mother-daughter team that own the place and employ great stylists at rock bottom prices. I got my hairs cut and styled (killer brain massage-ahhhhh) for $35 bucks. While it's not as cheap as Supercuts or some other fry and dye chain, it's a pretty salon with good services and great customer care. Another visit yielded a promotional deal for massage/facial for under a 100 clams. Ask if they have specials, could yield you a super deal. I have to admit that I was nervous about trying a small family owned salon but this was great. The mom immediately greeted me and shook my hand, explained that she was finishing up with another costumer. Gave me honest opinion when I asked about coloring my hair and the length needed to be cut off due to damage from having my hair in a bun all the time. Actually talked me out of coloring my hair and suggested highlights to give me the effect I wanted. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Where on earth can you get a shampoo, cut and style for 35.00? Here! I took the advice of my fellow yelper and I am very glad I did! The mother did my hair and my daughter was tended to by her daughter. They did an awesome job and my little monkey he got his haircut there as well for 10 bucks! I spent $130 for low and high lights. It was a bit bright and red.. but when she put toner, the entire head turned green. She said as I washed it, it would get blonder, but it turned green.. low lights and high lights turned completely green. I asked for my money back to go somewhere else. She said no. She offered to fix it... too traumatized to try that. I spent another $250 to fix it. The other hair salon in Mission Hills said the only way it turns green, is when you put green. The only way to fix it was by putting red.. now I have poop color brown.. and light poop color... but it looks better than the dirty green. And my hair is fried.. will need to wait a couple of years to do high lights. Never go to this salon... go somewhere else. read more

During everything with covid, my local hair salon in Imperial Beach was sadly closed down. None of the stylists work there anymore. I went to this place on a whim to get my hair colored and I thought it was impossible to make it look and feel great, but Ale proved me wrong. She was patient and careful not to damage my hair as she got rid of the black color and my crazy highlights. Anyway, I will definitely go back for regular maintenance. I have now had my hair done several times by Alex, half of the mom and daughter team that runs this salon and every darn time, I have been very happy. I am moving to another state and it makes me sad to know that I will be leaving someone who really 'gets' me but such is life right? I have had several hair cuts and even an old school perm and have loved every process. I cannot speak to the coloring of hair, something which they seem to do a lot of but me, I'm keeping my grey hairs :o). All the ladies I've seen leave happy, although it seems that many don't have yelp accounts to write down their thoughts. But know this...if either Alex or her mama do your hair, you will leave happy. Feel free to tell them exactly what you what, they will do it, no matter how wacky it might've seemed to another stylist. I am an old grandma lady with no illusions about trying to look younger or cooler, I just don't want to look like a senior citizen. I have always left feeling and looking fresh and relevant. This is an old school 'beauty shop' where if you make an appt, you may still have to wait when you get there. The ladies don't hurry, they do their thing, chit chatting if you're in the mood and doing their best to make you pretty. Take your time, this ain't Super Cuts, no fast in and outs here....you are treated with care and the prices are fair and the work, wonderful. Btw, I brought my two visiting granddaughters here for a haircut because my daughter thinks it's funny to do it herself with scissors. They are 6 and 7 yrs old. I came in here with some high expectations and high hopes after reading some great reviews, only to leave and never return. The women I encountered here that day were beyond rude to me. I walked in and stood there feeling awkward, this older woman who I'm guessing is the owner looked at me, didn't welcome me, didn't say hello, didn't ask if I needed help, nothing... she just looked at me. So, I just said I wanted a haircut and asked if I could be seen when someone has time. She then yells to another young lady to come help me and says she can't. This girl comes up to me and says that she doesn't know if she can see me but for me to come back in 30 minutes and maybe she can help. Are you serious? Are you really serious? "Maybe"? These women honestly made me feel like I was some sort of BURDEN. They never asked what type of cut I wanted, the only questions they asked were what was my name and my phone number. That was it! Needless to say, I didn't return in the 30 minutes. About an hour later they did call me leaving a voicemail asking if I was coming. After being treated like I was an inconvenience to you and your business????? Of course I wasn't going to go back. I strongly believe that because I wasn't a "regular" client, or perhaps family or friend, that I was treated so poorly here. Perhaps it was the clothing I was wearing? Whatever it was, they shouldn't treat walk-ins this way. I had high hopes and expectations for this place after seeing their reviews but now;? Forget it... Rude, rude, rude... Never again. Love love love this place! Ale is so nice and takes her time when she's working on your hair, which is greatly appreciated. I've been to other places where they have you in and out in 20 minutes and it's as if they want you out of there. I went in the first time without an appointment and she took me in no problem. Today I went in with an appointment and she was wonderful, I took my mom too and she loved her new haircut :) I definitely recommend you to go here, 35 for wash, cut, and style ! Yes, I agree that this mother/daughter team at d'Sexy Hair rocks. I got my second "wow" haircut there (2 out of 3) and will absolutely be back in this salon next time. I had previously gone to another nearby salon for a pixie cut, and even though that salon touted that they cut hair in "the latest styles", the lady seemed afraid to cut my hair too short. Last night, I went to Ale at D' Sexy Look to fix my bungled-up pixie. She was awesome! Besides being welcoming and friendly, she handled my pixie cut like the pro that she is. My hair is super thick, and she knew how to cut and tame it so it looked exactly how I always wanted. She spent a good 50 minutes studying and working on my hair till it was perfect. Only $25 for a wash and cut? Crazy cheap! Her mom is super cute too! Very sweet ladies. You can tell family is very important to them! read more
