First and last time I will ever be stepping foot into this salon. I told Martha exactly what I wanted, presented some hairspiration photos which was the A- line bob and instead gave me a square, choppy, uneven bob... basically butchered my hair! Mind you I could not see the damage that was done because she had flipped the ends inwards which I didnt even ask for but I see why she did that. I have attached a photo of my hairspiration and the work Martha did! A couple of days after this bad experience I went to another salon and the hairstylist there took her time to fix it but now my hair is a little shorter than I wanted but I got the correct A- LINE BOB. Both my wife and I were due to have haircuts and didn't know what salon to go to. Because we are fairly new to South Bay, I recommended checking Yelp. We came across Lounge Salon and decided to give them a shot. We were super impressed as soon as we walked in the door. The place is very modern looking and very clean. The lobby is not cluttered with product cases but does have some chairs and magazines for those that need to wait not to mention free wi-fi and beverages (water, soda, and even wine!). Brooke greeted us and started working on my wife's hair and fit me into her schedule (and neither my wife or I had appointments!). I started out somewhat unhappy with the salon- after a web search, trying to find someone with good reviews for handling curly hair, I made an appointment with Ruth. My appointment was changed to another stylist Martha and I was tempted to cancel the appointment- but my hair was looking pretty crazy, so I kept the appointment. It turned out that Martha was a very good stylist- I've gone 3 times now and have been happy with the job that she did on my hair. For those that care, the salon is very pretty inside- has almost a spa look. They offer you beverages and it looks like the type of place that would pamper you- if you're into that. My stylist moved, I revolted by doing my own hair and then I got lazy and my white hair started taking over my head. I looked to Yelp for help to search for a local stylist. I tried two of the highly recommended locations, but no luck with getting in this morning. I decided to try this location and they were able to find me a stylist! JENNIFER She is wonderful. Very attentive, easy to talk to and on point on matching color. I still had black in my hair and she blended in a dark brown so it doesn't look like I'm two-toned. After she dyed my hair, she hooked me up with soft curls. I spent a little over an hour for a color, wash and style and it didn't hurt my pocket. I wish I could put her in my purse and have her do my hair every morning. Definitely going back to her again when my white starts to show again. I have a couple events coming up and will definitely give her a shot with my up do's! read more

I'm the type of person that in the past has struggled to find the right hair stylist. After loosing the person that was cutting my hair, I was left with very few options. My wife had already been a customer of Lounge Salon, so I decided to go to Lounge, and give it a shot. I asked Ruth if she could do my hair. She mentioned that men's hair was not her forte. Regardless of her feedback, I asked her to cut it. She gave me a good cut. My rule of thumb is not to determine the quality of the cut right away, but after several weeks. A month had passed, and my hair was in real good shape, which is very rare for me since in the past, after a full month I would need a cut really bad. When I finally decided to get my hair cut again, I went straight to Ruth, and mentioned to her to do the same cut she had done on my previous visit. I have been a customer of Lounge for several months now. Frankly speaking, nobody had ever done such a wonderful job like Ruth. In regards to the facility and staff, they are super friendly and attentive. When I do need to wait, they have very conformable furnishings. The staff will also offer you complementary coffee, soda, or water. Thanks to rave Yelp reviews, I chose this place when I needed a Shellac manicure last minute. Veronika was very kind and helpful, as were the other 2 staff members I saw when I went in. They did well with the space considering the not-so-inviting exterior. The snack bar and day care are really cool and original ideas, and they offer cheap deals on 'Express' hair services Im likely to take advantage of in the future. I wasnt extremely pleased with my manicure, as there was extra polish and gel on my skin, as well as rough filing, but its not the worst Ive had. Lets see how long the shellac lasts... read more

I am only putting the star so that my message will post. Horrible! This has been the worst thing that has happened to me. On August 11, 2018, I put my trust in Martha Garcia to microblade my eyebrows. My eyebrows are horrible not the shape at all, she left me scars on both eyebrows they are two different colors. I am so upset! Ruth the owner of the shop wouldn't even admit after seeing me in person that Martha messed up and scared my face for the rest of my life. This work cannot be corrected. I will have to get it lazer removed, it will take 3 to 8 lazer sessions once a month. I asked Ruth the owner if it was possible Lounge Salon could pay for at least one lazer treatment she said no. I was looking for a salon that offered flat iron for a reasonable price since I was no longer able to flat iron my own hair to to carpal tunnel, tendinitis and fibromyalgia (even though I'm always in pain, I like my hair to look good) as I was driving by I saw a sign that said express flat iron. They have a sign that you can come back within 7 days if not satisfied. Tried to get it rescheduled but every single time was "booked". Ended up not getting my hair redone. Don't even go there. They have the worst service and they use bad products. I did the $88 creatine treatment and they said it will last me 5 months after one week my hair went back to normal. I called to check on that they told me the girl who did my hair will contact me next week. 3 weeks later no one contact me. Had my first visit on Dec 31st. I called a day before, not expecting to get an appointment because it was New Years eve but they were able to fit me in (YAY) The Salon is clean, nice & they offer free coffee. I didnt try it because I had just had coffee before my appointment but I've heard it is very good. It isnt just your plain coffee & creamer, their coffee list included Latte's, Chai, flavored teas, hot cocoa & a few other items (including wine, for the 21+ customers). My stylist was Claudia...she did an awesome job! I highly recommend her :D I only got a cut & style but she was very nice, listened to how I wanted my hair cut, & didn't push to sell salon products. Cut & Style price was very inexpensive compared to similar salons. They also have a great deal for cut, style & other listed services for $69 for a years worth...or something like that. I have been meaning to post about my visit that was about one month ago. After searching for a place on groupon, I found this place had a deal for a haircut and deep conditioning. I called to make an appointment and even though I had not yet bought the groupon they honored it anyway. I went in and Brooke checked me in right away and took me back to wash my hair. She left the deep conditioning treatment in my hair for a few minutes then it was off too cutting. They had a few customers who came in and she needed to help them but it didnt phase me because she was so nice and pleasant. She cut my hair and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted and asked along the way. She then blow dried my hair and asked if I wanted it straighten or curled and of course I said curled. I mention that since my hair was so thick my curls NEVER stay so she made sure to put some hair spray to try to keep my curls in the whole day. The deep conditioning treatment made my hair feel softer and brought back shine as well! I have definitely found a haircut place I will be going to while I am here in san diego. I went on Monday with a friend for her hair appointment, and while I was there I decided to see if I could get my hair dyed. Kibili was so friendly and helpful. She did a great job! I love my new hair, and I will definitely be coming back to her. Went in to get the Keratin Treatment that I have had done before that lasts 5 months and is a great treatment. This time I noticed the treatment looked different and was a different process than before so I asked the owner twice if it was the same keratin treatment, both times she lies and says yes. After paying over $200 for this treatment my hair is now worse than before. It is definitely not the same Keratin treatment formula they used before, it is now a way cheaper product that u can buy on Amazon. Do not be fooled this new product(GK the best) does not work. read more

I found this salon this morning and I'm in love! Called in to ask about the soft curls and nails and ended up making an appointment. When i got to the salon i was greeted by Veronika she took me to her nail station and offered me a drink...water, wine, coffee, and soda. I heard WINE? ? :) I think that is very neat! Veronika asked another woman to do my soft curls and I feel horrible for not remembering her name but she was beautiful and did an amazing job on my soft curls. My curls lasted all day and that a very impressive just because my hair doesn't hold curl well. I asked Veronika to do my nails a certain way and she nailed it! She also gave me the best pedicure I've ever had! we talked the whole time it was very enjoyable. the best part was the friendly atmosphere. I felt like a princess all day! I feel bad doing this review but honestly I have to. I went to get my hair done here thinking it was a great place especially because they had the child room. I was really happy with the customer service to begin with. I took my 11 month old baby and my niece with me. They were very patient with the kiddos. My hair on the other place, did NOT come out to how I wanted it AT ALL!! It took six hours to do only to not be satisfied with the end result. I paid a lot of money for something that wasnt even completely done. I wanted my hair bleached so I could do it pink. The girl originally said it would take two bleaches to do. I figured "fine Ill be patient". We waited six hours at the salon. My hair at the top and sides was light but not light enough to get the pink. Again I said fine do it another color. She recommended blue and purple. The back of my head she said it was the most sensitive spot so she would bleach right at the end... well she left the back almost light brown its not even bleached at all considering that was my virgin hair I figured she just let it go since she had to leave already. I heard her talk to her mom and her mom was on her way to get her. In the end my hair was a mixture of blue purple and white!!! ‍ she told me she had to leave already and just gave me a tube of paint and asked for me to do it at home. I thought that was very unprofessional. If she needed to do more why didnt she finish it at salon. I had my scalped badly burnt. I had streaks of blue all over my face when I got home. Im just so very displeased especially for the price I paid. Unless I get my refund I doubt Ill ever return to this place and I dont recommend it to anyone either. :(( read more

The Lounge Salon use to be my favorite salon; but then my stylist left, & I've regretted every visit since. After today, there's just no way I'll be going back. Before getting my hair cut I spent quite a wile explaining what i wanted. I get the right side of my head shaved, from the part of my hair over. I explained it's been months letting my hair grow out, to repair the damage of the last person did, cutting my part further towards the center of my head then i wanted. Explaining not to cut the left side at all, that I want to grow it out even longer then it was. I just want her to trim the back, so that it fades into the longer side. Unfortunately, I spent the time during my cut watching my son in the play room. Then I left without actually checking it out. I was horrified when I got home, and saw the final product. The left side, that she wasn't suppose to cut at all, is a good 2 -2.5 inches shorter, no longer even covering my ear. And my part is now even Further towards the center of my head then what the last woman had done, almost an inch further towards the top! The women here are very nice, the atmosphere is wonderful, & they even have a play room for kids, which my son loved. If I ever grow my hair out, I will undoubtedly come back. I love place, but with short hair, there just isn't the same forgiveness for a mistake. Even a half an inch makes a huge difference when your hair is only a few inches long. I finally broke down and got my hair cut for a big day I have planed tomorrow, and now I'm seriously debating going and buying a wig because of it. read more

I just had the worst experience at Lounge Salon today (July 13, 2014). I've been a loyal customer for about a year now who would constantly tip and pay extra for the service. I usually go in for Brooke or MJ, but today I couldn't catch an appointment with them. First of all, I called in asking if there was someone experienced available who does male haircut and according the guy working there was. I came in and the OPEN sign was turned off and the second sign was on CLOSE. So, I was unsure if they were open. When I sat down, I was welcomed by this lady who did my hair. She was kind. However, she was NOT experienced enough to be working at Lounge Salon. According to a "certificate" on her desk, she was a licensed hairstylist. However, the entire time she was speaking to me in Spanish when I told her I did not understand what she was saying. I got a feeling this experience was going to be bad. But judging from my previous experiences at this salon, I had to trust that they hire people who are only experienced. According to her when I showed her a VIDEO and a PICTURE of what it would look like, she said it was going to be easy! Throughout my haircut experience, the lady would constantly ask her coworker if she was doing it right. Which was ridiculous! If you're a licensed hairstylist, you should know what you're doing! The back side of my head was not tapered correctly. She didn't even know what TAPERED was! There were some patches of long hair on the sides. And it looked horrible! I was SO frustrated that I had to stop her from what she was doing and just stayed with how HORRIBLE it looked before I end up looking like I went into a CHEAP barbershop (which seems like I did). Please ensure that Lounge Salon keeps it's great hairstylists and hire EXPERIENCED stylist who can speak at least minimum English words. The lady was kind, but there was a communication barrier and lack of experience. I will not be coming back here anytime soon. read more
