Nice place. Booked appointment over the phone for pedicure. Immediately starts to upsell me for a manicure also when walking then gave me like three different prices kept changing what she was charging for. So I just said forget it I'm just getting the pedicure. Watch out for them trying to confuse you and changing prices. Chair massager didn't work the lady had to put it on for me. Then the massager was on for only half the service?? They definitely do not disinfect tools properly..... got a callus remover after she used the file she shook it in the tub then wiped it with the towel she was already using to wipe my feet off. Got French tips and she had put them SUPER THICC had to ask her to please make them thinner. And they were still uneven looking. And to top it all off it hasn't even been two days and one of my nails already came off. I got gel what's the point in paying xtra if they don't stay??? I had regular polish on from last time I got my toes done somewhere else and those had lasted me three weeks with no chipping. So they must use shitty brand polish. One star is GENEROUS. I wanted to love this place because it's very close to my house. And Alice does a good job on nails. But unfortunately the lack of customer service, not honoring appointment slots and overall unfriendly demeanor of most staff, it's just not worth it. Today was the last straw. They have an online appointment/self service booking section, which in theory should be great. However the past 4 times I booked, my nail tech requested happened to be off or I was not seen until 40-45 minutes after my appointment time. Today I arrived at 9:30 for a pre-booked 9:30 appointment with Alice. I waited for 15 minutes and she hadn't arrived.... and I politely asked the three women and two men who were already there to call her to see if she was close. They said she would be here shortly.... then around 9:55 I ask again and I was told that all of a sudden she isn't coming.... BUT if I wanted to wait they could call another employee in to do my nails. Then one of the women stated that if I wanted my nails done now I'd have to get gel x instead of a full set. I declined. She then offered to do my nails, yet she had another client who was also waiting for her with a booked appointment. I told her that the woman who has booked with her deserved her appointment honored (even though she too was waiting 25+minutes). I've also observed how he talks to clients that calls in for appointments and see how he does the best to accommodate and match their needs. I just came in for a gel x set I sat down at the workers table told her what I wanted showed her my pic asked her to soak off my old set. she grabbed my hand and started clipping my nails I asked her don't cut my natural nails she ignored me and cut them then wanted my other hand. This location did a horrible job on my wife and sister in law nails, after they got the nails done bubbles were showing on them and they went back to get it corrected and staff were rude to them. After they got it corrected the nails were still the same as the first try. When they first went in the staff were pushy of trying to sell them a higher tier of how to get the nails done. This was my 4th time coming here. I usually only get my pedi done when I visit family since I live in Az and it's too hot to go anywhere out there. Well, I'm new to the nail environment. I only like getting my pedi done. I'm the most basic/minimal woman you'd meet when it comes to nails. She insisted and said, "only clean up," I gave in. She went ahead and didn't do anything special with them. I mean I wasn't expecting anything special since she said "clean-up" then she asked if I want her to file them. I nodded. Personally, it gets me anxious when they ask or try to make small talk because I don't understand a single thing they're telling me and I don't want to seem rude so I nervously laugh. Remember how I said I was pregnant? Well I have 2 skin conditions (thnx hormones) I feel very insecure about my face since that's where it's most noticeable and wearing makeup makes me feel worse. While the lady was doing my nails she starts pointing at my face like if I had no idea it looks like that seriously how FREAKIN rude! I chose to ignore her but she wouldn't let it go. She even gave me ointment to put on my face. Like geez lady! I came to get my nails done not to get my insecurities exposed. We were done and she walks me to the register. When the gentleman rings me up he says it's $56. In my mind I was like HOLY HELL WHY $56!?!?!!! I asked and he broke it down. 26 for pedi (ok) 20 for mani (the lady never said mani she said clean up) I could do that myself at home and 7 for buffing? I don't even know what's that. Now that I'm processing all this I can see I was over charged should've been a total of $53 not $56! I understand nail places charge a lot and I'm ok with it but for what I got!?! Trust me when I say listen to the negative reviews! I don't leave reviews often, but after 4 hours and $109 wasted, I wish I had listened to what other Yelpers wrote. TLDR version: Pros: Great atmosphere, friendly staff (friendly but not good customer service) Cons: Poorly trained and poorly skilled staff, deceptive pricing, bad customer service, too expensive for the quality being offered Details: I came in for an 11am appt for a gel manicure and pedicure and was seated after 10 mins. Pedicure bowl water was cold but the first pedicurist I had quickly emptied out the water and put fresh warm water after I let her know. It was downhill after that. My first pedicurist had to help a co-worker who it looks like didn't know how to do a pedicure on a roughly 3 yr old girl so they switched. The co-worker/my second pedicurist struggled to do every step of my pedicure, including cutting, filing and shaping my nails. When putting the callous remover, most of the solution ended up back in the bowl. Same with the paraffin wax. Basically making the package I paid for a waste. She clearly saw that the callous remover wasn't effective, but just looked at it, smiled at me and shrugged, and moved on. Because I saw how much she was struggling, I decided I would do a regular pedicure instead of a gel because I knew I'd need to go get my nails done again soon. She asked me 3x and each time I said regular. She then called over the first pedicurist who told me they'd have to charge me $5 since they removed my old gel. I said that was fine. She said it was a better deal to add gel. I asked how much to add gel and she said $7. I decided that for $2 extra I might as well do gel. At the end of my pedicure she washed my legs, including washing off the fancy lotion she had just put on. I asked her to lotion my legs and feet bc now they were dry af and she said she already put lotion. I reminded her she just washed all the lotion off and she put on their standard lotion instead of putting on the thicker, better quality lotion that was included as part of the pedicure package I chose. For the manicure, I was hoping I'd get switched to a different technician especially because several people came in for the same services as I did and left way before I even got my manicure started. Instead I had the same technician. I showed her my nails, which frequently crack and break and explained that I needed the nails repaired and showed her a very simple design and asked if she could do it. She said yes. She filed my nails completely down then said I didn't have enough nails to keep my square-oval shape. She kept asking me how to repair the nail and didn't know what she was doing at all. She then called over another guy (3rd person to work on my nails), I think his name was Dat. Dat took over and tried to shape my nails the best he could with what she left. He had left his client to help clean up her mistakes so I understood when he told me he couldn't finish doing my nails and he'd be sending someone else over to finish. I saw Dat tell this now 4th person what needs to be done. He came, attempting to retile what Dat had already filed and shaped. He then began to clean up my cuticles, jabbed me under my nail bed and I started to bleed a lot. He never said sorry and the only acknowledgment he gave was just putting some type of alcohol on a tiny piece of cotton ball. For the manicure, I showed this 4th person the picture and he said he could do it. I've included the picture I showed him and his "finished product." I didn't even bother having him fix it after he tried 3 different times to make straight lines. At this point it was going into my 4th hour being at the shop and I was just over it When it was time to pay, Dat told me my told and I was shocked. I asked for a breakdown of the prices and he explained the gel pedicure was an additional $12, not $7. I told him that I was told $7. First he said it was because the pedicurist was new. I explained that it wasn't the new person and showed him who told me. He spoke to her, came back and said that it was $7 MORE. That was my last straw because she and I even acknowledged how it was only a $2 difference. I let him know that they had really poor quality and customer service and I wouldn't be coming back. He was silent and didn't ask why, offer an apology or any compensation. I wasn't looking for a handout but at least some acknowledgement that this wasn't their best would've been appreciated. I strongly recommend that if you're looking for a new place to try, DON'T come here. read more
