Need a lamp??? Chandelier???? Or even worse you need to fix a broken lamp? This is the place to go! I've never purchased a lamp for here but there's a good selection from traditional to modern to retro. Since I'm a retro girl with zero desire to add lamp repair to my list of things to do. D Lamp Doctor is where I go when I decide that perhaps it's not the best idea to keep on using my old lamps that obviously have a short in the wire or it's just time to up grade the 1970s wiring. Services is always friendly. My repairs were completed within a few days. Prices seems reasonable to me what $30 verses a fire hazard. Bonus shopping option - looking for leather work?? What a fantastic find. I had a used ceiling light I wanted to turn into a hanging light. D delivered! She added everything I needed and then said she had time left and painted the chain and all the fixtures to match my light. It is part of my kitchen renovation and really meant a lot to me. Heartbroken over the repair Dee did on my Tiffany Chandelier. Took the chandelier in to replace 2 sockets that was burnt out. She repaired 2 different sockets. Broke my chandelier arm and tried fixing it by poor workmanship solder or poxy. A real mess! Never bothered to tell the customer she broke my chandelier and charged us. My chandelier is trash! Would never have taken my chandelier to be fix in the condition it was returned. When my husband called her for a refund we knew she would tell us that the chandelier was in poor condition. Not true I have before and after photos. What I'm disappointed is I was so excited to get my chandelier back and trusting someone and not examining the workmanship before paying in full. We get home within 4 hours her new socket she installed burnt out. We even paid for the entire lamp to be rewired. She offered to give us a refund and to bring the chandelier in. We would have but my husband accidentally dropped the chandelier and it cracked. That's when my husband knew she didn't rewire it. Unfortunately people don't take pride in there work. So disappointed and heartbroken loved my chandelier. Meanwhile my husband went to the shop and got his refund. Dee's husband chimes in wanting his 2 sockets back. My husband replied I paid for those and going to hang them on the wall to show everyone what a $50 socket looks like. Dee's husband didn't like that. He started screaming and yelling to get the F out of his store. Followed my husband to his car as husband is getting into his car. This grown man screaming and spitting and pissed off that his wife ruined our chandelier. read more

So I went shopping yesterday and found a big white Owl vase, (my husband and I love owls), and I thought it would be perfect if it was made into a lamp. And with that, I knew exactly where to go! D has been repairing my lamps for awhile and never had a problem. She's does amazing work. And reasonably priced. I wouldn't go anywhere else. If I can rate more stars I would. I've been meaning to write a review about this store for a while now. About six months ago I went in to replace two shades for my lamps at home that were worn pit and old. The salesgirl who was there at the time was very friendly. I had taken the two beat up lampshades with me and I was able to get two very high quality, made in tbe USA ( this is important to me for quality as well as just wanting to buy goods made by US workers) that were nearly identical to the shades I was replacing and of even better quality. I then inquired about bringing in some broken lamps and described what needed to be done to them. Tbe salesgirl was very knowledgeable and said they could easily be fixed. I was looking around at the many kinds of lamps and chandeliers they had and asked questions about an antique chandelier I was interested in. Again, I received good, solid information that was very helpful for my decision as to whether or not it was a worthwhile purchase. It was a cozy shop that had a nice selection of shades and everything lamp and light related. I asked about whether or not the shop had someone who could help me install the chandelier and they did not, but that they did know of and use a gentleman who does install chandeliers and other light fixtures. I was very pleased with my high quality purchase and unlike another reviewer here, I was told up front lampshades could NOT be exchanged or returned, so bring in the lamp you need to get shades for OR as I did, bring in the shades to be replaced. I am very happy with the personable AND personalized service I received and will be bringing in my five lamps that need repairing. read more

I brought in an antique chandelier that needed the light sockets replaced. They quoted a good price and replaced the light sockets. Within 2 months the porcelain new light sockets shattered and the light bulbs fell out. Called to find out what their warranty is and was told I was "passed the warranty". Now I still have a chandelier that doesn't work and will NOT take it back. If they can't fix it right the first time, why bother? read more

2 Floor lamps: I had one antique lamp that I had rewired myself several years ago. and another one that I had never been able to fix. Neither one was working any more and I couldn't get the wire through the antique one (curvy part). I gave up on DIY and took to Dr. D. She fixed both of them one day early and under-the-estimate. I had a hand-blown glass lamp whose shade shattered years ago. The glassblower had also done the electric work, and being a glassblower rather than an electrician... You get the idea. :-) I decided that I wanted to get a new lampshade and get the electrical wiring in the lamp replaced. I searched, and found D Lamp Doctor, and took my lamp to them. They carefully explained my options on shades, and got my approval to switch the lamp from an uncommon electrical bulb to a standard lightbulb. It came out beautifully -- the shade looks like it was made for the lamp, and the lamp works better than it did when I bought it. Even better, they put a small LED bulb *inside the glass stem*, which looks absolutely gorgeous and as if it was made that way. Since then, I've bought two lamps from them. They sell both new and used lamps. I love old lamps, and got a brass lamp made in the 1910-1930 era (with a lovely green glass shade) and a standing lamp. The standing lamp is a halogen that takes somewhat uncommon bulbs, and they warned me before I bought it that I'd probably have to come to them or another speciality shop to get the bulbs. They clearly prefer to have long-term customers rather than maximizing sales in the short term. I like this place. They're both honest and competent, and that's the sort of business I prefer to do business with. read more

This shop is bogus. I dropped off a lamp to get a replacement glass shade in gold that had shattered. Four months later, I finally got a call to pick up the lamp the shade they put on this was white and tacky. They were really defensive and confrontational. They weren't nice at all. The owner threatened me to "charge for storage" when such fees are nowhere listed on the work order. I am all for supporting small business, but their customer service is pathetic. I will never use them again due to the nasty way they treat their customers. I was nice, they were rude. read more

I took a pair of vintage lamps in to be fixed. One needed a switch. The other needed the nuts on the wires holding the bulb. One lamp got the switch glued, and "crazy glue" over the outside metal case. The other lamp was wired correctly, but the paint around the bulb opening was chipped off. I would not take anything I cared about there since they did not care about my lamps. read more

Bought an overpriced small dark colored lamp shade for $48.00. Based on the store employee's insistence that the lamp would still be bright even though the shade was a very dark color, we bought it. When I called about exchanging it they said that they do not exchange shades. read more
