Darryl Wilson recommended Joseph (Jody) Torrence of iCatching Events to handle the décor for my wedding. Jody Torrence was a no show to my wedding. All the other staff pulled together to do what they could with what they had to salvage my wedding reception. The reception was still very disappointing. There were errors at the wedding reception that were totally Darryl Wilson's fault, and not just an error that occurred because Jody Torrence was a no show. For example, Darryl did not send the final table seating list to the vendor that took care of printing my wedding stationery in order to print the place cards because he forgot, so my wedding became free seating. All that time we had spent on planning table seating was for nothing. Realizing his mistake, he could have reserved 2 tables: one for my bridal party and one for our close family members. He didn't. So, our family members ended up sitting with other guests, and worst of all, when the bridal party walked in, there was no table reserved for them as planned. It was very disorganized and embarrassing, and they had to go find separate seats amongst the guests. In addition, we paid for 2 babysitters to supervise the children of guests to Darryl directly. My guests, and my husband and I only saw one babysitter. Darryl claims there was another one, but no-one saw that person. He claimed he sent the person on errands. But his assistant was the only other person I saw from his office. I was supposed to have my late mother's pictures set up at the reception. That never happened. I had cards with cute information about my husband and I that were supposed to be placed on the cocktail tables. That did not happen either. There were cocktail tables but he forgot to display those cards.
I have been trying to get a refund from Jody Torrence. Originally, Darryl was very helpful in trying to pursue Jody Torrence to obtain some type of refund. But after making some requests for some documentation from Darryl for about 6 months (since August 14, 2012), I still have not received any documentation, and now his attitude has changed. His exact words to me yesterday were: "We are going to have a serious problem about this issue. I would ask if you would respect my time. As I mentioned before I have a heavy work load this week and will contact you when I can get to proper documents you are asking for. The account is closed and has been for 10 months. I had to mail off and pay for copies and I have to allow the bank to do its job to find the check. I know you have deadlines so do I. Please either email me and not text me." I sent him 11 texts total in 6 months seeking this documentation but I'm bothering him. He basically gave me the run around for 6 months. He had once told me that he had received the document from the bank and needed my address, which I texted him (again). But now, based on the message above in italics, the bank needs time to do its job?? How long does it take for a bank to send a copy of a check? Most importantly, if he does not want to give me the check, it begs the question: Is he covering for Jody Torrence, the vendor he recommended that cheated me?? I will never know. Further, he stated that he does not want to be blamed for what happened at my wedding. He must really be kidding. I would have never even have met this person or used him if not for Darryl's recommendation. While I do not hold Darryl 100% responsible for all vendors, as a bride you choose a wedding planner to help make decisions. You trust your wedding planner because they are in the business and should know what they are doing. So, this decision turned out to be a bad choice because he did not research the vendor, but now I am bothering him. I would not recommend Darryl Wilson of D'Concierge to anyone because he made this recommendation and should be helpful in attempting to recover my lost funds, instead of hanging me out to dry. Brides, please be cautious. Get contracts. Release final payments at the event, not before. I made that mistake. I made all payments to Darryl and to all vendors he recommended, including this one that was a no show on time, and before the event. But this is the treatment I got and I'm still getting. If you use Darryl, go behind him to make sure all "i"s are dotted and all "t's" are crossed because he promised that he and his vendors are professionals and I'm in good hands. But look what happened to me. Don't let the same thing happen to you. read more
