I'll typically tame my mane with 1-2 professional cuts per year and occasional trims that I personally administer. Teresa @ silk blew all my negative associations away. Not only was she real (unlike most hairdressers who pretend to be your best friend and shower you with ridiculous compliments) She didn't push any extra products, she listened to me and she gave me one awesome Moroccan oil treatment & haircut. I wasn't charged the long hair tax and I got a fantastic deal on both of the services. Silk ALWAYS seems to have some ridiculous promotion or discount going on whether it be on their website, in the paper or on groupon. Additionally, the salon was quiet, clean and pleasant. ...I may actually consider getting 3 haircuts a year!

Update: had to re post this twice on google from being deleted :)…read moreAlso, blocked by my stylist on Instagram and posts of my hair that they "loved" was deleted. Deleted my google reviews lmao, I'm done for now trying to tell people the truth about what happened to my hair because it's obvious google reviews are too controlled by a business where they pick and choose what they want you to see. Thanks Felicia! Had a great time getting my hair done, but was kind of blinded with the overwhelming price that the hairstylist coincidentally did not mention - posted my hair on their Instagram but then photoshopped my face to the point that it didn't look like me which was bothersome as well. Paid almost a grand for a balayage, (150 security deposit - 850 for 100$ worth of products and an about $750 ranged price as a flat rate which I found out after getting my hair done) and had only used temporary hair dye in the past which has not damaged my hair. This price would've been fine for me if I didn't end up with extremely damaged hair. My hair is currently much thinner, a different texture, despite buying the best products for hair care from the salon as well. Extremely disappointed to have paid this price to get thinner hair to the extent that it hurts to put my hair up, hurts to put my hair in hair clips. The stylist reassured me the entire time that she was using the best products and sensitive materials to protect my hair, which was not the result of this expensive "investment". I will not be coming back and plan to let my mutuals know because I spoke highly of this experience before realizing two/three months in that my hair was damaged to an unfortunate extent. My scalp is literally sensitive now, with major hair breakage and knots forming in my hair even after oiling / hair masks / using oribe shampoo/conditioner/heat protectants, to the extent that I notice it literally falling out by itself. I would not recommend getting your hair dyed here. I've shared photos that show the difference since I've gotten my hair dyed, and as you can see all of the hair I have as of right now fits in the circumference between my thumb and pinky. It used to be a full hand full of hair. My photos are also posted on google reviews if they aren't visible on this app.

I'm addicted to Hipsters!…read more Listen, they're on a mission and taking over Brooklyn. It's all good with their Raybans and authentic Italian ovens. Every few weeks I go to Brooklyn on the weekend, have breakfast and get a very expensive haircut. I said to myself, self. There has to be a better way. If you follow my reviews, I hate Long Island Chinese food, Italian food, no coffee houses and more importantly no good mens barber shops. Then, I remembered the place where I got haircuts as a teenager. When we moved from Brooklyn to our newly built house in Holbrook, every one and every business seemed new. There was a proud Italian gentleman who opened a Barbershop around the corner. He too owned his home around the corner. He started a business, raised his family, just living the American dream. He retired years ago but his son Vinny graduated Sachem with me. I saw him at our HS reunion and said, Vinny! How's it going? Back slaps happen and he said he's still in Holbrook running the family business. (Wheels turning) I hit him up on FB and say Vin can you cut Hipster? Absolutely! He worked on a place in the Lower East Side back in the day as well as being trained by his dad who brought his skills from Italy. When I was a teenager, my mom would throw me some cash and say get you and your brother haircuts! Where do you think we walked to? Walking in today it seems like a totally different operation. I was kidding with Vinny today, I miss the afro hot lamps from the 70s that used to be in this corner. Saturday morning 11:30am its a packed out business. I highly recommend reservations. I show Vinny my Yelp picture and explained how the hipsters cut my hair. He breaks out the clippers and he's now a man on a mission. After my cut that would rival any expensive cut I usually get in Brooklyn/NYC, he takes me to the hairwash station and adds a tingly tea tree shampoo. Then, he rinsed it with a cold finish. Totally impressed with the end result! Listen, if this placed sucked I wouldn't write a Yelp review. I would have said thank you and been on my way. I am telling you, if you know how you want your haircut, Vinny and staff can make it happen. And what was given to me today was a current hairstyle that the folks in other LI shops would dream they could cut. Holbrook! Still holdin' it down. Make reservations and come to Hair Force One
