When searching for direct cremation services after the death of a loved one, I called three places in Manhattan. Pricing was comparable but the conversations seemed impersonal, cold, and purely transactional. While I'm sure these other places provide fine services, my call to GV Funeral Home was the first conversation that felt warm and personal. They conveyed condolences (which in my experience was not standard protocol amongst others) and expressed a personal interest in my family's needs. By the time I visited to do our paperwork, I had spoken to multiple individuals at their business who all introduced themselves. My father, an older man, was the next of kin, and they took the time to ensure he understood what he was signing. The same level of care over the phone was further exemplified in person. There are many places that offer this type of service, but dealing with funeral directors Gregory and Jennifer reassured me that I was getting the care my loved one deserved. The exceptional level of service at GV Funeral Home helped alleviate the pressure of what is otherwise an incredibly difficult time.

However, during this most difficult time, there are heroes that go thoroughly unmentioned and unoticed as if they're invisible. There are no signs, billboards, thank you cards, colorful posters, chaulky sidewalk art appreciations, flashing headlights, social media hurrays, lit cell phone waving, nightly news expressions of gratitude, nor horn honking visits to honor these incredible experts where they work. If you've had a love one die, you know the pain and anxiety of planning a funeral. Now imagine planning to honor a loved one during a pandemic--unimaginable. We set our pain aside and thought what in the world must it be like for our skilled funeral professionals. Especially as we view news reports of mass graves & mass incinerations, by the thousands, in Asia. They too are putting their lives on the line handling thousands of love ones. Not for the living, but for the rest of us. Robert did not hesitate to inform us of the magnitude of the situation. We fretted about our options as we called all over NYC after our dear love one succumbed to old age. Robert said yes if I can & put our minds & hearts at ease. We are beyond grateful. We cannot keep quiet. Lets make the posters, lets honk the horns, lets phone flash our funeral experts, lets spread the nightly news, lets take to social media to say.... There was very little patience or understanding during the insurance and payment process, adding unnecessary stress to an already painful time. During such a difficult moment, we expected our loved one to be treated with dignity, care, and respect. Saying goodbye is one of the most meaningful and lasting experiences a family faces, and every detail matters. Instead of leaving with comfort, we were shocked and distressed. It was heartbreaking to see her that way. That lack of attention to detail, care, and compassion was terrible. We were told the owner, Gus, would reach out to discuss our concerns, but he never did, which was very disappointing and spoke volumes. We hope that by sharing our experience, families will think twice before entrusting this funeral home with the care, respect, and dignity their loved ones deserve.

An Exceptional Experience During One of Life's Most Difficult Moments…read more There truly are not enough stars or words to express my gratitude for Cherubini Funeral Home and the extraordinary care my family and I received during the passing of my grandmother. This was the first time in my life that I had been responsible for navigating final arrangements for someone I loved, and I entered this process grieving, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to expect. From the very beginning, Ruth, Josie, and the entire Cherubini family made what could have been an incredibly difficult and intimidating experience feel manageable, dignified, and deeply compassionate. Their attentiveness was remarkable. Their patience was unwavering. Their compassion was genuine. I never felt like another client, another family, or another transaction. I felt cared for. I felt heard. I felt protected. And most importantly, I felt like family. There were moments throughout this process when emotions and circumstances became difficult, and Ruth and Josie handled everything with such professionalism, grace, sensitivity, and understanding. They helped ease burdens that they probably never realized I was carrying. They answered my questions, guided me through unfamiliar territory, accommodated my needs, and continually reassured me that my grandmother would be treated with the dignity and respect she deserved. What touched me most was that they didn't know me from a can of paint when I walked through their doors. They had no obligation to care about me beyond providing a service...but they did. And you cannot manufacture that kind of compassion. It comes from the heart. Cherubini Funeral Home is family-owned, and after experiencing their care firsthand, I understand exactly what that means. The warmth, humanity, and sense of family are woven into the way they serve people. During a time when I desperately needed gentleness, they gave it freely. Choosing a funeral home for someone you love is an incredibly personal decision. Looking back, I am truly honored and grateful that Cherubini Funeral Home was placed in my path and entrusted with my grandmother's final arrangements. I could not have chosen better. To Ruth and Josie, thank you. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your compassion. Thank you for your professionalism. Thank you for answering every question, calming concerns, and simply being there. And thank you for treating both my grandmother and me with dignity during a chapter of my life I will never forget. People often wait until someone is gone to give them their flowers. I want to give Cherubini Funeral Home, Ruth, Josie, and the entire family their flowers now. The work you do matters. The way you do it matters even more. You helped carry me through one of the hardest experiences of my life, and I will forever remember how you made me feel during a time when I needed compassion the most. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend Cherubini Funeral Home to any family looking for compassionate, professional, respectful, and genuinely caring people to entrust with their loved one. Five stars simply aren't enough. Abundant Blessings Alethea Jones Andrews Granddaughter of Jonnie Jones

Because of the…read moretiming of the funeral, I had very little time to get the programs printed and felt pressured to make a quick decision. I reached out to Anthony, and unfortunately, I regret using his company. Looking back, I should have listened to the three red flags I noticed, but I moved forward out of desperation. Red Flag #1: I requested to see a single printed copy before all programs were printed. Anthony said that would not be possible, even though I was willing to meet him anywhere at his convenience. Red Flag #2: I asked for a specific delivery time. He said he could only guarantee the programs would arrive before the funeral service, but could not provide any further details. Red Flag #3: I asked if I could pay a portion upfront and the remainder upon receiving the programs. He required full payment before printing. Anthony did deliver the programs before the service, but the quality was very poor. Although the paper weight was what we discussed (still thinner than expected), the bigger issue was the print quality. The images I sent were full-bleed (printed to the edges), but the programs I received had white borders around them, and the print quality looked like something produced on a home printer. In my discussion with Anthony regarding my dissatisfaction with my order, he mentioned sending me pictures of previous work, but there was no way for me to know my programs would have borders when the original files I provided did not, nor that the print quality would be so disappointing. Thankfully, I also ordered another set of programs from an online company. They charged me less, delivered within 48 hours, used glossy cardstock, and provided a proof before payment so I could see exactly what the finished product would look like. Using Keepsake Memories/Anthony was a mistake. I'm sharing this so others understand what they may be getting into when working with Keepsake Memories, especially during a vulnerable time when families are grieving and under pressure.

My husband of 37 yrs sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac aneurysm and for you to ask if I have the correct funeral home is quite insensitive & insulting. I dealt with Christine. She was very cold and 'matter of fact'. Everything I posted indeed happened. I certainly would have liked to have management there on that evening. As you can imagine, it was an extremely sad & stressful time for myself and our three sons. There was no one present to ask for help. Again, once the bill was settled, management disappeared. I did receive a cake from a bakery from your buisness the following week which was the only upside as I hadn't eaten for days. I still feel very badly as things could've gone a whole lot better. Again, no one even asked if I needed anything or helped the guests get situated. I literally stood up the whole time not knowing what to do. It took me a while to have the courage to even write this. It's difficult to continue to realize that things did not go well.
