Ortiz Funeral Home is ghetto af! If you love your people DO NOT use this rachet place. From the…read morebeginning, when I called, they picked up the phone like a call center. YARI, who btw is a woman who sounds like a man, was fast talking, no warmness, no compassion. I requested a direct cremation for my nephew who died this past Monday with an id viewing for 5 minutes. She gave me the price of like $1800 but warned me that price was for 4 people to view him, she said itd be $250 more for 6 people, but that she had to confirm. She called me back in less than an hour and said the price she gave me is wrong, the real price is $3800!!! As I protested she did her best to cut me off and shut me up. I blew my top!! She very coldly told me that that is the price and if I had a problem with it to call MARTIN the funeral director. I asked her to text me his number and of course, she never did. When I called back, they actually picked up the phone and hung up. My heart sank. I called again and now another female picked up the phone and she was sassy enough to make me want to smack fire out of her. She snarkly gave me Martin's number, and it goes without saying they left me on hold forever when I called. While all of this is happening, my poor brother is acclamating to the idea of having an entire funeral instead of the direct cremation. He was adamant he wanted to use this dump because other family members had been buried with them. So of course I swallowed my pride and called there this morning to apologize to YARI and pay for the funeral that we did not want but were willing to buy for my brother's sake. 9:04 am the next day I called and they told me she was with a client. I told the secretary I wanted to apologize and book an appt. She said Yari would call me back, she never did. By 1030 I asked my husband to call because I just didn't have it in me anymore. He calls and speaks to SHANNON, this "advisor" was even more ignorant and money hungry than the other idiot, Yari. She used words like "fishing" and "feel him out", when addressing the amount and funeral services my other nephew would want for his dead brother. Now my husband blew his top aswell and addressed her lack of professionalism. This place crushed my already broken heart and I will scream it from the mountain tops that Ortiz Funeral Home is garbage!!! Buyer be wary. After all of that, we read the reviews and omgggg, they can't even get loved ones ashes to the correct next of kin. Absolutely deplorable!!!!

This place sucks. You know the saying, "late to your own funeral", well that is exactly true now…read more They don't prepare the body in that place, they prepare the body at the grand concourse facility then drive the body to the one on Westchester Ave. my grandmother was almost an hour late. No website. No monitor to hook up a usb to for a photo montage. Over priced and so dated. Dirty walls and ceiling. Go to farenga bros. Much better experience when laying your loved ones to rest.

I see a couple of negative reviews on here saying that the staff wasn't professional or no one picked up the phone, other nonsense and I have to say this was NOT my experience at all and we've been going to the funeral home for years with the same funeral director (Tom Roemmelt). The staff is extremely accommodating. For our most recent funeral, our beloved Auntie Ro loved playing the lottery. And we mentioned we wanted to have some sort of floral arrangement that would somehow honor that. Tom says "let me see what I can do." He calls up the florist, explains to them the situation, and a few seconds later he hangs up and looks at me and my wife and says "It's done." And sure enough, the arrangement came out BEAUTIFULLY, and everyone who came to the service loved it. And it provided quite a few smiles on such a dark and sad day. Also our beloved Auntie Ro was 95, and Janitza Soto made her look absolutely wonderful. They dyed her hair *exactly* the way she liked it and did her makeup flawlessly. Rose would have loved it. They took every single instruction and request we gave them and executed it perfectly right down to the pink rosary we gave them to have Auntie Ro was holding in her hands. They never once rushed us. Or pressured us. And they were always at all times professional, courteous and respectful. Tom even gave me his personal cell number to contact him directly no matter what time of day or night. To which, last minute things came up and I had to text him at midnight at he responded IMMEDIATELY. Cannot say enough nice things about this funeral home and staff. Highly recommend working with them. AAAAAAAA+++++++

When most people have a good experience we don't review and quickly forget. Here's mine!…read more We just buried my Uncle yesterday 5/14/18. First, My Uncle looked like he always did. They did the best job I've ever seen making the body recognizable. And I have no reason to advertising for this place!!!! 5 stars! Second, Mr Swinton spoke to us like it was his own family being buried. He said to my cousin "We'll take care of you Dad". And when I saw my Uncle, it showed. 5 stars! The limo ride was great. The driver was polite and very professional. We got to the cemetery and back in good time. They seem to know all the routes to bypass traffic. 5 stars! The Funeral service started on time. Again the pastor was compassionate and thoughtful with his sermon. The organist was professional! Over all I would say, if you live in the area, I would at least check them out. Don't go by these reviews alone. Because from my perspective, everything ran smoothly. It was a memorable good day for My Uncle and our Family!

This review is long overdue, as my family worked with Sisto Funeral Home earlier this year…read morefollowing the passing of my sister. During an incredibly difficult time for our family, the care, patience, and attention we received made a very painful process a little easier to navigate. I especially want to recognize Ralph Faiella, who was incredibly attentive and compassionate throughout the entire process. He was always responsive to my texts, patient with our many questions, and made himself available whenever we needed clarification or reassurance. There are so many details and decisions that have to be handled while a family is grieving, and Ralph approached everything with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. I also want to thank Robert and Tom, who assisted us on the day of my sister's service. They were both extremely respectful and attentive to our family and helped ensure that everything went smoothly. Our circumstances also involved additional logistics, as my sister was being transported to the Dominican Republic for a second service and her final arrangements. Ralph and the team coordinated the transportation and handled the additional preparation and retouching needed for her second viewing there. Knowing that these details were being handled carefully and respectfully was incredibly important to us, especially when coordinating arrangements between two countries. It has taken me some time to write this because, understandably, revisiting that period is difficult. But I did not want more time to pass without acknowledging the kindness and professionalism shown to my sister and our family. We are deeply grateful to Ralph, Robert, Tom, and everyone at Sisto Funeral Home for the dignity and care they showed her throughout the entire process.
