D&S was FANTASTIC at correctly identifying the cause of a sudden water problem we had been having in one corner of our formerly dry basement and fixing it. Scott listened carefully to what I knew about the history of the our 83 year old house that we are only the 2nd owner of. The house was ahead of its time when built and had perimeter drainage tiles that emptied into a sump, which works whenever there is rain. But about a year ago we started having water come through the basement wall in the front corner of the house, but it only happened when we got a huge rain -- and only in that corner of the basement. I showed Scott pictures of when our most recent rain had flooded that area of our basement, showed him the area that had flooded and showed him the sump and the D&S guys took it from there. It turned out my assumption was wrong, and Scott verified that the problem was that the outside downspout had been diverted into an underground pipe heading away from the house and that it was plugged up. They rodded it open... the cause of the problem was identified and confirmed. They recommended abandoning that underground piping and created a new diversion outlet that is above ground and nicely hidden under our shrubbery. Last night we had a massive rainstorm, and we didn't have even a drop in the basement. We're back to having a totally dry basement again! They also sealed up some cracks between our foundation and the concrete driveway and also rodded out the other drain that was on the other front corner of our house to make sure it didn't develop a similar problem in the future. These guys are smart, know what they're doing, and are honest and friendly too. The price was very fair and I'm extremely grateful. I recommend them highly for any type of sewer work, including dealing with the sort of storm water issues I was having. read more

Failed to inform neighbors they were shutting off the water two days in a row. When I said something to the workers about it, they blew me off. Legally, they are required to let the people who will be effected prior to the work being done. read more

Sean and Scott were amazing! We had a bathtub that would drain, a sink that made the toilet bubble, and a toilet on the other side of the house that sounded like the Kaskaskia River. I called on Memorial Day about a mainline sewer clog, expecting to encounter a closed business, or at the least, disgruntled technicians. Instead, I got an instantaneous and friendly response. They told me there would be a plumber at my house in an hour and one arrived within 45 minutes. He was friendly, efficient, and answered all of my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. Fantastic- would recommend D & S again and again. Our dear neighbors recommended D&S Sewer Service -a family owned local business who fixed us up for $99. Enough said. They have been above board, helpful, reliable. Moreover- we didn't have to call them back again and again- they did the job right the first time. We found them through - gasp!-what a concept!- talking with our neighbors, after an adverse event with Roto Rooter. We were almost ripped off by Roto Rooter (wanted $7000+, take out sidewalk, fence, etc.). This was after their one tech (should have sent two) didn't cap off the inside intake to the sewer line and back-pressured/blew sewage all over our basement (leaving it for us to clean up), and charged us $400 for the task. They returned after their 'fix' didn't fix it, and showed us an ominous picture of our sewer line & opined about the imminent threat to health/safety for our 94 year old dad. I suspect that I received this spiel because I'm blue-eyed, blonde/red, and female, and have a personality. Unfortunately, they did also not realize that: - I SAW them switch the picture from the actual one from my sewer line & swap in the 'ominous' picture (duh!) -I'm quite experienced with audio/video equipment due to education and experience) -I'm an analytical chemist (person who designs/makes laboratory equipment, including audio/video) -a certified veterinary technologist (veterinary nurse practictioner- up on what's contaminated/not contaminated, etc.) Soo......much for that. Talked to the neighbor, found D & S- are happy campers. Wonderful business- would use again, if they didn't do such a good job the first time such that it's not required! ;) read more

My sewer line clogged up on a Sunday night during below-freezing weather. I worked my way through the phone book and the only service who could make it in under an hour was D&S. The technicians for the other services lived 2 and 3 hours away, or charged over $200. D&S got to my house within an hour (from Mahomet in freezing rain) and had the sewer unclogged in less than 20 min. To top that off, he only charged me his regular fee of $90, and took a personal check. I highly recommend them! read more

Quoted $89 over the phone to clear my backed up sewer line. Dug up my line in the middle of my front yard and broke the clay pipe, he did this without consulting with me first (I was at home), he did not ask if there was an existing clean-out, he did not ask me if I had a crawl space or basement to find it, he simply got out his shovel and started digging. When he finished digging and breaking the line, he cleaned the blockage and then told me my line was broken and that it would need to be repaired for an extra $436 (total $525). This was on a Friday, he told me he would be back on Monday or Tuesday to install the repair and new clean-out. He didn't have anything to cover the hole he dug and suggested I find something, all I had was a 2x4 to at least mark it so no one would fall in and break their leg. He did not show up the whole week until I went to his house (his business is run out of his house, no office or shop) the next Friday to make sure he showed up after my bath tub began filling up around my ankles again because of the leaves falling in the hole. He said he was planning on coming that day but if I had not been there, he would not have been able to turn the electrical outlet on outside to use his machine to clear the new blockage, he said he didn't know it was blocked again. Not the brightest bulb in the drawer, if not dishonest as well. read more

I called D&S after water stopped draining in our house, and the first plumber I contacted recommended calling a sewer service instead. They showed up within thirty minutes, fixed the problem (blocked sewer line) over the next hour or so, and charged $100, which was less than I was expecting. Can't ask for more than that. read more

This is a great, family owned business. We don't live in C-U and they had no problem traveling out of town. They were able to come out within hours of my call, quickly identified the problem and took care of it. Easy peasy. We will definitely call them again and I plan to refer them as often as I can.
