Bert Powell is, as I had been told by everyone who I'd spoken to that knows him, a self serving…read moreperson without integrity or character. My experience with him occurred one week after I moved to Tyler. While I was back in Austin bringing another load of household items, he took it upon himself to have his handyman begin chopping two feet off of my backyard Stone Fence. I drove in and caught the man doing it and motioned for him to stop. He spoke no english, so I had to give him hand signals in order for him to understand. He left, but about two hours later, I heard the chopping again and had to go out and make him get off the fence again. Evidently Mr. Powell had ordered him to continue anyway.I went over to Powell Properties office around the corner to find out who had given the order to do that to my fence. After a few days, I spoke with Mr. Powell and he proceeded to ask for money from me to finish off capping the top part that they had left jagged and ugly. I thought about it a while and eventually decided that it was his responsibility to cap it off, since he had not even asked my permission to begin with. I called and told him I'd like him to cap it off and he said that I would have to chip in some money because he had already spent $200. chopping it down and told me that a "decent" property owner would understand that the cost should be split. I told him that a "decent" property owner wouldn't make the decision to chop someone else's fence up without prior agreement that there was a need and prior agreement to split the costs. It seems Mr. Powell doesn't care much about his neighbors and has gotten away with throwing his weight around a bit too easily and quite certain of getting his way. He really is a man without character and out for himself only. In the past year,I have referred two different workers to him, who did work for him and left unsatisfied with the money he was willing to pay them for their labors, as well as the way they were treated by this man. My advice is to rent or purchase with him with your legal advisor because it seems he is the only one who wins in his world.

They had it delivered and one half was ran into a tree. Then it sat on the property a month to the day prior to attempting to send anyone to set it up. As the workers came so did the chaos. Trash out in all the cabinets, workers messed up the guest bathroom(diarrhea all over floor, cabinet, toilet), workers cursing my husband out in Spanish, mud all over the floors, the painted the walls flat paint with the other paint(so it's two toned), and the list just goes on. In April they were supposed to have finished everything but did not. It has leaks in the roof and skylight that Ron Hays knew about plus a burned out fan in the living room. We were supposed to be given a paid survey that was part of our deal and we had to go pay the $650.00 ourselves. If we had know it had sat on the lot for 3 years and the roof leaked, we would have definitely passed on this one but now we just would love them to finish it. Nothing was really done professionally. We'd ask a question and hear "that's not my job" "Ron's at lunch" " I'll call you back" "I'll text you the answer" with getting nothing. I moved from Tyler Texas in 2018 and still go there so a lot this would be a referral for me to my friends.

He was genuinely concerned about my problem and sincerely wanted to make me happy even though I was not his customer. Thanks to that experience, if I ever build another house, he will be the first one I contact.

I can't say enough good things about Judy Kunzman. If you want a Realtor that knows the "ins and…read moreouts" of Real Estate, Judy is your gal! If you read my reviews, you'll clearly see that I've been quite harsh towards several Realtors, but my latest real estate transaction was made much smoother, knowing a we had a true professional working for *us* and not just trying to sell anything out there. In fact, Judy and her husband, Kurt, sat my wife and me down, during our first showing, and gave us their opinions on which homes we chose to view should have better resale value down the road. It was clear that they were trying to help, and not just convince us to buy any house, in order to make a quick commission. As with any real estate transaction there can be snags along the way, and there were with this one as well, but Judy stayed calm, and handled the closing like the true professional she is. She worked very hard, and was very loyal, acting as our Agent. My wife and I highly recommend the Judy Kunzman team!

They want you to get what YOU want. Believe me, they shine above their competition - Reasonable and fair prices. - They have Ricky Addy: Mr. Addy listened to what we required and our list of wants. Offered choices to view and tour. Treated us with respect and kindness, and answered hours of phone and email questions with honesty, experience and patience. - Great Set Up services - Every concern we had with respects to our land, they had answers, advice AND recommendations for the best people to do the jobs and followed up with us to make sure we were 100 percent satisfied with their services as well as anyone they recommended not affiliated. EXCELLENT customer service and EXCEPTIONAL after sales service. Months later we returned to Academy Homes to purchase an additional, larger home to reside in. Again Mr. Addy went above and beyond to narrow down our too many options to customize THE home that had all the features we "wanted" while taking both our budget and the site restraints into consideration. We couldn't be happier to recommend Academy Homes in Tyler.
