I have brought many pieces here previously and had nothing but great things to say. I even referred several friends and family here. Most recently, I have had the WORST experience. My clothes have been sitting here for almost five months!!! I have gone in atleast once a week to check and continued to get some BS excuse as to why they weren't done yet. I finally just asked for my items back because the season to wear the clothes is over and I was done wasting my time continuously going in. I totally understand giving ample amount of time seeing as they are always busy, but FIVE MONTHS?! That is unheard of. I will not be bringing any garments back here and have already told my family and friends to stop going here as the service is completely unacceptable. read more

And when I thought of short, I thought, call Doug. The three hardest things to find in one's lifetime are as follows: A true best friend (you know the one that will help move bodies), a job you like, and a tailor. Doug solves the third one. Although I think Doug might consider participating in the first. D'amico Alterations is it's located in the old Covington Brewing Building. The awning proudly displays it. It's an old building that houses an old school tailor. That old school tailor does first class work. The kind of work that you don't see anymore. Detailed. Crafted. Quality. Doug is a mensch. Surly, but a mensch. When you meet him for alterations, he'll grill you. "What do you want specifically?" "I need this like 5 inches shorter." "Like 5 inches shorter?" "OK, 5 inches shorter." "Five inches. Done." Be specific. You get what you ask. And what you will not ask is to get his best work. You'll get it every time. He's not satisfied until you're satisfied. That's what makes him a great tailor. He cares about his craft. I've had him correct many articles of clothing and never have once been disappointed. I think the correct store name is "D'amico Alterations". But, maybe this this the business name. Anyway, this is a cute shop that I think falls in the category of "mom and pop." When you walk in, you'll see where they do all their work, right behind the counter at old-school looking sewing machines. I and many of my coworkers use D'amico for alterations on suits, etc., frequently. I think getting a pair of suit pants hemmed for $10 is pretty decent, though I suppose I haven't done it often enough to remember what it usually costs. I've also gotten a bridesmaid dress fitted here and they did a great job. The owner, Ray, is very sweet and funny. His son and the other staff are very friendly, too! There is plenty of metered parking by the store and I've never had trouble getting parking in that area. read more

We have been going to D'Amico's for several years. He does really nice work! A real 'old time' tailor. Recommended for all things sewn.

I went here because I needed a suit alerted. The suit basically needed to be remade. I also needed it done quickly. I talked to Doug who was great. He clearly knew his stuff and despite being obviously busy, said he could get my suit done on time when I told him the time constraints I was working with. The suit looked great when it was done. I will never return. Would gladly pay 3x the price for half the lip. The ONLY thing this clown lacks is the makeup. Ray's father was a U.S. Marine. Commendable. Ray continues to skate on his dad's military legacy with USMC stickers all about his business. Deceptively unappreciated. Ray keeps an impoverished, tin-foiled, duct-taped television on his work desk. While chalking your measurements, he won't hesitate to ensure his "superior" political stances, forged from non-stop injections of one particular mainstream media source. He's also a conspiracy theorist, which was off-putting...to label with ANY modicum of decency. I paid Ray in advance for his services, which was a grievous mistake. When I attempted to pick up my suit on the previously agreed date, it wasn't ready. He burbled a plethora of excuses, none of which I found believable. Or cared about, to be frank. "My grown kids--medical bills--blahblahblah." These claims might have fostered credence, if his previous rhetoric hadn't presupposed him to be "the guy" to go to. He said he could have it finished that afternoon, but that didn't help the interview I had at 1500 same day. Ray's work was very OK. I've had worse; I've had far better. If you're looking for scale work at scale prices, and you love opinionated conspiracy theorists, this is your boutique. read more

I highly recommend D'Amico's to anyone looking for a good seamstress/tailor. My Fiance needed his suit taken in for our wedding and I needed my dress shortened. Not only did he do a perfect job, but he did not over charge. I try to support small businesses anytime that I can; and this business is the perfect example of why you should help a small business. Hemmed a pair of pants while I waited. Quicker than a fast food drive through.

I loved the place from first walking in, as it does have that old school vibe to it. Ray is a great gentlemen and while he will try to talk you out of what you want, at the end of the day he'll do what the customer wants - he just wants to make sure its a more educated decision. That said, this place should be avoided. Period. Dropped my suit off on a Friday to have the sleeves shortened and the pants hemmed/taken in at the waist. Promised to be finished a week later (Friday). Coming in on the Tuesday after the work was promised, it wasn't DONE! They still had to sow the buttons on the sleeves and finish the pants. This was two business days extra, and the work wasn't done. The worst part to me is that when pressed about this, there was no "I'm sorry." or anything, simply a "can't always know when you're going to get busy." Seriously? Not a single apology. While it would've been nice to knock a few bucks off the bill as a token, a simple apology would have been enough. Instead you get nothing. Furthermore, despite marking the pants, they came back at least an inch too long. The waist came out perfect, but the pants were too long. I really wanted this place to be good, but they did not want to be anything short of awful. read more

When I met Ray, he was a great advisor for me on how mens clothes should fit. I was starting out with a new employer, and image was very important. He advised that mens lowrise trousers give your seat a much better appearance, and introduced me to the perfect "break" in the hem of my trousers. It was a natural fit when Doug took the business over. Doug is a first class professional, working "24/7" to insure you look and feel your best. There is no finer tailor in Northern Kentucky. Terrible experience. Called at 4pm to ask what time they were open until and was told 5pm and to 'come on down'. By the time I got there (this was not close to my house) and finally found a parking spot it was 4:35pm. Found a hand written sign on door that said 'closing today at 4:30'. This place is fantastic. Great old school vibe. I usually stop in with my daughter after school, and they remember her name and are friendly. I have had several suits, and pants altered. The work is excellent, and always ready when promised. I regularly get comments about my clothes being stylish, or cool. I think that people often underestimate how much better a suit or nice pair of pants look when it's been properly fitted. Last week the seam started to separate on a high end winter coat. I thought I was going to have to pitch it. I took it in to Damico's, and they fixed for less that $10.00. This is old school service, that you just don't find much anymore! read more

Have used this place for years, maybe 20+. Always friendly and fair priced. Most importantly, work craftsmanship and quality has been exceptional and, when something has materialized, the fix was fast and free (I've had cuffs on 2 pairs of pants unravel because I walk funny and my shoe heel would catch the cuff). read more
