I dont even want to give one star!Don't bother calling. Run to find a different contractor. No pitch on a 100 foot driveway. I repeatedly told Mario before the job that it had to be pitched. Perfectly level except for right in front of the garage. Funnels right in. Have to squeegee the garage floor every time it rains. The water just puddles...no where to go. Like an ice skating rink in the winter. They came back with torches tampers and sledgehammers to make channels to give the water a place to go. Yup...Beating the shit out of my brand new $10,000.00 driveway. When they were done they dropped the 5 gallon gan can right in the middle. Gasoline eats asphalt. I called Mario right away, he said he would come the next day...never to be seen or heard from again. Tried to repair damage...nice big SCAR to remind me every day. They suck! read more

DO NOT use them. Spend a few dollars more and go with the mid-level quote and get a better experience. We were quoted for a driveway update and hired D'Alessandro. After the driveway was ripped up they then called us back and told us that their measurements were wrong (never came back to remeasure) and that the job would cost more. My husband is not a confrontational person whatsoever and was treated really poorly on the phone by Ralph. When I called back he then proceeded to sh*t talk my husband TO ME. I told Ralph this is just not a good fit and since we weren't completing the job with them and can we be entitled to some kind of partial refund? They agreed to a $200 refund and kept telling me "the check is in the mail" for weeks until they just stopped answering me altogether. I never write bad reviews, but hope this will help someone else to avoid a bad experience and just go with someone else from the start. read more

Had work done by Mario and Frank Dellasandro. The worst job ever. It's only 4 1/2 years old and it looks like 20 years old. Ask them to come to look and they are full of excuses. I live in East Meadow complained constantly about cracking and all the white pouring out of the brick. They call it effervescence and they said it would go away. It looks horrible. Can't even power wash it out. Had a pro come in and he said its coming from the mortar not the brick. Cheap labor and Cheap materials. VERY EXPENSIVE ALSO read more

I posted this on Yelp a few months ago and noticed that the company has another listing. I had work done a few months ago and every time I come home I think about how unhappy I am with the job. I choose the company because I thought they were experienced and I should not have a problem. I spoke to the owner multiple times on the phone prior to discuss colors for the pavers (6x9 Cambridge ) for the stoop and walkway. The day of the job they arrive with the wrong colors and with smaller pavers (the size of brick for the border) when I am sure when I agreed to the job that was not what I asked for, I was told despite it saying on the agreement it was not the case. They ended up getting the right color for the main pavers while they prepared the job. While they measured out the stoop I said multiple times that I was installing columns, and I mean multiple times, only to be told that they square it to the front door. okay but I am putting columns, again I believed they know what they were doing. All said and done, they finish the job and it looks good, paid , but I can't walk on it yet. The next day I look at the top of the stoop and it looks off to me. On side was deeper than the other, which will look off for columns? At this point I did look at the plumb line from the door overhang. The owner came to my house saw that it was off and made an attempt to fix the top of the stoop by removing 90% of it and replacing the stone offsetting it by an inch to decrease the discrepancy with the distance from the house. Once all the concrete dried, the fixer up job looked messy, they did not wipe down the mortar with a sponge. Now I have to see that every time I walk inside my house. The pavers on the top of the stoop were also loose. I finally measured for the columns and it turned out to not be plumb to the overhang, the stoop is longer on one side than the other, I called to show the owner and he told me that I should have known that would happen because he squared the stoop to the door. I guess he did not want to listen to me when I told him that I was planning to put columns. He told me to add more sand to the stone and it should stop moving. It still does a little and the best thing is before he re did the top of the stoop they did not move. I am now looking into what to do about the column situation, or have no columns at all. Hopefully the overhang does not fall one day. Recently one of the full nose fell off, and after a few weeks they came and patched it up, and it unlevel and looks messy too. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision. read more

I called them to get an estimate for lanscaping/masonry, and they called me back the next evening while I was working so I could not take the call. They attempted to call me again- so I made an appointment and they were an NO-SHOW. I hate rearranging my day to be home for an appointment and someone doesn't show up and does't call. Especially since they called me two times. You would assume that they were interested in my business. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional. read more

I used Dallesandro and sons for some masonry work around my pool. Mario is a nice guy but more interested in the money than the work. He introduced himself as the son and with his father had 40 years experience in the business. As it turned out they send their "crew " to do the work non of whom spoke English and Did a very sloppy job leveling my pavers. They never filled in the areas around my rocks that needed cementing. Also they redid a section and were supposed to match the pavers but used a completely different color. I could never recommend a company that does such poor work and charges lots of money. read more

D'Alessandro and Sons are great at what they do. Even during these trying times they completed our work on time, and budget. This is the second time we have used them. The first was a driveway and path leading to the back yard. We spoke to Mario about possibly continuing the pavers into the backyard in the future. Mario said he would take that into account, and he set the pavers in a way that the continuation of pavers would work. Well as promised the new path was completed about a year later, and it looks like it all was installed at the same time. Great Job. They always stand behind their work, and return phone calls. I hired D'Alessandro & Sons to replace my front stoop. After speaking with a few other companies I decided on D'Alessandro & Sons because Frank was very personable and reassuring that they would do good work. It was a two day job. Well, long story short, the work was shoddy and had I not complained it would have remained shoddy and unfinished. The steps had spaces between them and the stoop which I had to have them come back to do in addition to filling in spaces on the stoop itself where water would clearly have gone through and lifted the bricks in no time. The workers left wood on the sides of the cement block that they poured at the bottom of the stoop which I had to ask they remove, the put leftover bricks on the side of my house, which I discovered about a week later. They did a terrible job of cleaning up after themselves. I have to contact them to take the excess bricks away because what am I going to do with them?? All in all, I would not recommend this company. The end product is pretty nice but it was not worth the aggravation. Now I am constantly calling them because I have yet to be given a receipt for the work. Find another company. I wish I had. read more

We used D'Alessandro and son about 6 months ago to repair pavers around my pool. My main complaint is Mario was not on sight for longer than 20 mins on a 10 hour job. I don't like companies where the boss is just too busy to work on my project but always comes around to collect the money. Second problem was the exorbitant amount he charged for that 10 hours of work. He came highly recommended so I paid the higher price, but the workmanship was nothing special and now I have to dish out more money because they ruined the electric that supplies lighting around my pool. Of course he swore he knew what he was doing, but again, this is what happens when the boss doesn't do the work and disappears. I also hired them to seal my driveway because I wanted it professionally done so it wouldn't be sloppy. Well... I probably could have done it better myself. The workers left tar foot prints all over my sidewalk and really just made a mess. Mario promised he would come clean it up so I paid him based on his word. After 3 weeks I gave up and basically told him to go screw himself. Would never recommend him to anyone. read more

I used D'Alessandro and son about 10 years ago to do a major renovation including paving a large circular driveway, replacement and addition of walkways, brick and concrete patios, and front and side walkway entrances and brickwork. Total contract worth about $30,000 in two sessions over several years They did a good job then, with some exceptions...ie they damaged underground sprinkler hoses when they were told where they were and to be careful when breaking up a front walkway( I had to repair that myself before the work could continue), and tried to leave early once after being paid and leaving debris all over the place. I stopped them and had them do the required clean up on that occasion. I also had to call them back to trim excessive cement on a walkway which they had poured and not corrected. I contracted them again in April 2019 to do a blacktop patch, seal the driveway, rebuild a brick wall, re morter cracks on brick walls, and re level a brick patio (worth about $5100 as estimated) and gave Mario a $500 deposit at that time. After many excuses about weather, other contracts etc I was VERY patient and finally they did the blacktop patch (total of 3 hours) late in June, and then got MANY promises (5 of them) to come back to finish the brickwork and cracks, but always there was some sort of excuse why they could not. Finally today, 19 July 2019, after being told by text by Mario that "definitely" would be done on the 19th July, nobody showed by 9:30 am...and after 3 texts to Mario he finally answered and said he was not going to do the contract because he felt "uncomfortable" with me watching what his workers were doing. What a crock...I even made ice cold lemonade for him and his crew during the blacktop patch because it was hot out!!!! In reality, he probably has some other higher paying contract and again I was put on the bottom of the list. To top it all off he said he would refund only half of my Deposit of $500 which he has now been holding for 4 months and thought that was fair (the audacity!!!...HE cancelled...NOT me) and finally agreed to refund the full amount when I advised him I would take him to court in 7 days if not fully refunded by then. This is not the same company that did work for me 10 years ago...they will no longer do work for me, and highly recommend using another contractor who will actually keep their word and follow the contract they write. I would give a ZERO rating if I could. read more
