It's a filipino grocery store but it's also a catering service and they sell take away food. It's what I call "hiding in plain sight". The owner of the only other filipino store in Amsterdam referred me here. It's much closer to where I live. I love it. Why? Do you say? Well, because the owner, Gina, will cook any filipino dish you desire in the quantities you desire to take home. You can call in and preorder, go in and visit and order or buy whatever she's already got cooked. She's very friendly. As a matter of fact I'm hoping she'll adopt me and expect me for dinner regularly. Ok maybe not. So here's the deal. She told me they'd just catered a 150 person private party of which of course all the attendees were all avid filipino food lovers, filipinos, expats, internationals and dutchies. She'll cook for one or many. So I'm going to arrange a dinner for our local Yelpies. I am not going to do this often because I don't want you all to get spoiled and wear out my new source LOL. The owner does it because she loves cooking. She doesn't want the drudgery of operating and running a restaurant. How much does it cost? It's not expensive well depending on how much you want to eat.... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinoy-Tayo-Store/436474289725247

I really like Wah Nam Hong--it's easily one of my favorite spots to stock up on Asian ingredients…read morein Amsterdam. I've shopped around at a few of the nearby oriental markets, and in my experience, Wah Nam Hong consistently has the best prices. They have a massive inventory, so you can find almost anything you're looking for, from specific noodles and sauces to those yummy Korean BBQ seaweed snacks and tropical fruits like plantains. What really sets this location apart for me is the frozen section--they have, hands down, the best selection of frozen Dim Sum in the city. It's my go-to for stocking the freezer. Plus, the store itself is surprisingly spacious and easy to shop in. Unlike some of the other markets in the area that can feel super crowded and cramped, this one has plenty of room to move around. It's a "no-frills" environment, but it's well-organized and located very close to Nieuwmarkt, so it's super convenient to get to. One thing to keep in mind, though, is the language barrier. Don't really expect to speak English in here; most of the staff won't understand you, and honestly, it's the same with many of the other shops nearby. It's not a place where you'll get chatty customer service, but if you know what you're looking for, it's a goldmine. The store is right in the heart of Chinatown, which is such a great area to explore. I love being able to grab all my cooking essentials and then take a stroll along the canals afterward. If you want the best deals on authentic Asian groceries without the claustrophobia of other shops, this is definitely the place to go.

You will find about almost everything in here. From noodles, sauces, deserts, sweets, tapioca, drinks and even more. I bought a few different sauces, plantains, drinks, and some of their yummy Korean bbq seaweed snacks. I look forward to returning back soon. Another bonus the customer service is friendly and professional. Feel free to ask them any questions. China town is one of my favorite parts in Amsterdam. So many wonderful shops to explore and of course it's always pleasant to take a lovely stroll near the beautiful canals on a sunny day.
