Holy mother of jamon! This is heaven if you want to experience iberico ham from Spain. They have every iteration of jamon and the associated sausages. Best value is getting a sampler tray with cheese. Wish this existed in the US, going to sorely miss this kind of experience. Also, get the sandwiches which are simple and incredible.

Vacuum seal sando for later.

I had the iberia ham, manchego cheese, crushed tomato, oil on a roll (sel-salt). They have about 5 different roll options. I went with what the guy liked. Everything was excellent. The manchego is extra, but worth it & high quality, very tasty. They did not skimp on cheese. But, I will agree with some people, the cheese does drown out the oil & crushed tomato somewhat. But I love manchego, so I'm torn. Nice Cozy shop. Nice atmosphere. Tables too eat there. I got mine to go. They do a nice vacuum seal to eat later. Great! I'll be back when I'm town.

Eye candy for all meat lovers. We had too many things in our hands so we are definitely going back there the next time we go out. Already know it's super tasty due to the fact that a customer said, "You think it smells good... Wait until you try it!"

Yes, you can opt for a pricey pre-made sandwich and walk away grumbling on Yelp about this place being overpriced, or you can spend a bit more time and get the full gold star treatment and learn why that sandwich is bit more Euro than you'd like. I recommend investing the time! I stopped in on a Sunday, agape. We have nothing like this shop in the US. So I mentioned I'd like to buy some ham but am completely naiveve about what they are selling and how. The staff proceeded to guide me through their different cuts, regions, feed, etc.. Letting me sample slices cut on the spot as we chatted. It was wonderful! 30 minutes later I had some ham to eat by the slice with wine and cheese and another packet to make a couple sandwiched with. The meat was all the tastier knowing it's origin and story. The Spanish really make an art of dried ham, it's like having a croissant in Paris. Anyway please do yourself a favor and stop in for a taste and guided tour of the ham selections, then you'll wonder why those sandwiches are so inexpensive! Note to Americans: under no conditions should you try to take meat in plastic wrap home with you, no matter how well sealed it is. Even if you purchase it it in factory sealed plastic. It will get confiscated at the border. I know first hand. ;-)

Some of the best aged meat in Holland! Centrally located in the Dam, their friendly staff is more than willing to help guide the novice tourist or cater to even the most specific of conaseurs.

Sandwiches to go

Happy to have came back here! Came In the summer had a great time And picked up many treats to go. I decided to get the Sandwiches this time which I wasn't as Crazy about since they are purest so no mayo or mustard to be found on the sandwiches I guess you would have to ask in order to get some. Place is not cheap but the meat is beyond tasteful it's the best.

Really great ham sandwiches. Bread is a little hard but nevertheless tasty. Good photo opt with pork legs hanging along the wall. Reminds me of Spain.

An incredibly unique butcher shop, and a must stop for lunch. The ham cuts and legs throughout are super interesting. Watching the butcher trim and cut the meat with such a special technique was very cool. And oh yeah, the meats are mouthwatering good. We went with the meat sampler that offered a variety of cuts and cheeses. It was probably one of the most delicious charcuterie plates we've had. I would definitely recommend for those who want to try something different.

The best ham on the planet. There isn't a bad thing in this place. They only serve ham and sandwiches. We went on a Saturday and they had a tent outside selling sandwiches. The inside is really impressive. We paid 4 euros and split a small sandwich as a snack. PROS: Rustic sandwich Legs of ham displayed Great prices

If your a true meat eater then you should come here. I picked up dutchman a lovely sandwich from here. He loved every bit of it! Do I eat pork or beef? Hell to the no.....but I don't hate on those who do.

This was a treat to find! Want to take a trip to Spain but don't want to pay for it? Just come here for a taste of the wonderful country to keep you going. This sandwich shop/butcher/restaurant has the real Spanish pig legs and they have such a great variety that you are welcome to try. We sat down and enjoyed Meal #3 which is made for 2 people to share. A great spread of meats, some cheese and break with olive oil and tomato, along with 2 glasses of wine, and a good-sized salad with more ham and some beautiful greens. What an amazing deal! Service was pretty good, but one lady was taking care of everything who was seated so it was a little hectic. But she was very nice. The people behind the counter were all smiling and seemed to really enjoy being there. My favorite part of the visit was a small child watching the carver was handed a piece of ham to try. The man was just so patient and it was the cutest thing! We will be back to try more ham! As I said, there is plenty to choose from with many price-points. If you want to impress someone with meat, take them some of this ham

To-go jamón ibérico sandwich on a rustic baguette
Amanda B.

This was our first meal after getting off the ship in the cruise port. It's a little shop with a TON of different meats. We decided to split a pre-made sandwich to go from the counter at the front - we chose jamón ibérico on a rustic baguette. It was just over 6 Euros and was both a good size and filling. It came with tomato slices and I think a little olive oil as well. The bread was fresh but crusty and hard on the outside (hence rustic) and the cured ham was absolutely amazing. I found the sandwich to be a bit dry because there isn't really a sauce or anything, but flavor-wise, perfect. I'd suggest just sipping on some water so that you can enjoy the sandwich itself without mixing other flavors. Very simple, very affordable, fast, and delicious. Definitely stop by!

What a selection! Super. Very knowledgeable as well. Good red wines to go with the meats. The bred with tomatoes and oil could have some more flavoring. Nice 'pit' stop for a snack

They have a variety of liver paste and they sell other peculiar items. I tried two types of salamis here, both had a unique and delicious smoked taste. One of the favorites here in the Netherlands is a salami that is slowly cooked by smoke at a specific temperature for one year or so. It has a raw appearance, however the meat is fully cooked by smoke and the process they are using. All sausages or salami are served with mustard the condiment of choice in the Netherlands.

Behind the counter the butchers and their helpers are busily cutting or wrapping meat. It's definitely a busy store. As is usual for me, I stand in line awaiting my turn to come up when 15 minutes or so later I realize it's a numbered system and I have to get a number. LOL. Of course the ticket number dispenser is right at the door as soon as you come in. Doh. The staff is friendly and helpful and can even decipher my kind of okay spoken Dutch. I suppose they're happy I'm at least trying. Actually it's so good that they respond in Dutch leaving me wide eyed and confused not knowing what it is they said. The prices are okay, not low not high. The meat fresh and ample. After much research I've determined the difference in cuts of meat here in Holland. The beef is leaner and has less marbling. It makes me wonder if marbled meat is available here in Holland. Regardless, it's a nice clean friendly establishment that I'll return to many times to buy my cuts of meat especially since now I know where they're located..

I was more shocked at the low prices and huge portions. I am not a huge "meat eater" but love chicken (Kip) and some pork. The lekker smell of smoked meats overcome you when you walk in (a good thing). So many choices of smoked meats, sides and anything you want. You could make a full meal and call it your own from the chicken shawarma prepared meals they have here...all you have to do is cook and serve! It is right next to the Ten Kate Markt on the Kinkerstraat....so some competition, but the market (generally) does not have raw meat sold in this capacity. A bit crowded at times...lines form down the street during these Covid-times...but I can't imagine how busy this place would be if there were no restrictions on capacity. A good, friendly place...huge selection. Check it out!

It's all well-marked with what it is, prices, and weight. But I really couldn't believe the prices. Between three different packs of meat, a few fruit and vegetables from the market around the corner (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ten-katemarkt-amsterdam-2), was about 10 euro. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Obviously I've been living my life wrong. But it's okay, because I have found the way. My tip: Go here and the market first, then go to the grocery store for what ever is left on your list. My guess is that you will save at least 30-50% on your groceries! I know they take pin and cash.

A deliciously fresh bottle of juice for under 3 euros! You put your bottle under the spout, push the button, and watch as your fresh juice is squeezed into your bottle. The juice is fantastic and you can taste the freshness of it. The oranges are just sweet enough and it's so wonderful to know it's all juice with no additives. The bottle is about 6 oz., but you can also purchase a larger bottle (can't remember the cost). There's no way you can get a bottle of fresh OJ in the states for this little bit of money! The food they carry seems to be pretty much on the healthy side. They have ready made meals you can get for a quick dinner. There are also the regular grocery items for those looking for more. It is in an ideal location for tourists looking to grab a cold drink or stock up on essentials, while in the city, especially due to its location being very close to public transport links, and museums. It is located in a basement but you can get a decent mobile phone signal inside, even after heading down the escalator. For tourists, Albert Heijin is the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands, it's pretty much a brand you can't hide from and it seems they have stores everywhere you look with almost 1000 stores in the Netherlands. Unlike some AH stores, they do accept foreign Mastercard and Visa cards here, which seems to have changed in the past couple of years, as some older reviewers did state this wasn't possible. This specific location is pretty large and carries two main benefits over the AH To Go stores dotted around the city: - Product Selection (Larger store, so has many more products including the freshly squeezed orange machine, which was turned on and functioning) - Price (Reasonably cheaper compared to AH To Go stores, meaning you can save some money here compared to their stores nearby, in general I noticed prices were slightly more than back home, but prices were good compared to other stores I visited in the Netherlands) Most of the checkouts here are self-service, but there are a couple of manned checkouts. The self-checkouts were reasonably easy to use, with an English language option, and a staff member on hand to help. I did experience an issue where I required a staff member's approval for my product, I did only purchase a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice, so I'm not sure if they offer random checks or if it was some sort of verification. You will also need to save your receipt, or request a short barcode to leave the store, so make sure to take it with you! 4*
