They have a variety of liver paste and they sell other peculiar items. I tried two types of salamis here, both had a unique and delicious smoked taste. One of the favorites here in the Netherlands is a salami that is slowly cooked by smoke at a specific temperature for one year or so. It has a raw appearance, however the meat is fully cooked by smoke and the process they are using. All sausages or salami are served with mustard the condiment of choice in the Netherlands.

Behind the counter the butchers and their helpers are busily cutting or wrapping meat. It's definitely a busy store. As is usual for me, I stand in line awaiting my turn to come up when 15 minutes or so later I realize it's a numbered system and I have to get a number. LOL. Of course the ticket number dispenser is right at the door as soon as you come in. Doh. The staff is friendly and helpful and can even decipher my kind of okay spoken Dutch. I suppose they're happy I'm at least trying. Actually it's so good that they respond in Dutch leaving me wide eyed and confused not knowing what it is they said. The prices are okay, not low not high. The meat fresh and ample. After much research I've determined the difference in cuts of meat here in Holland. The beef is leaner and has less marbling. It makes me wonder if marbled meat is available here in Holland. Regardless, it's a nice clean friendly establishment that I'll return to many times to buy my cuts of meat especially since now I know where they're located..

A deliciously fresh bottle of juice for under 3 euros! You put your bottle under the spout, push the button, and watch as your fresh juice is squeezed into your bottle. The juice is fantastic and you can taste the freshness of it. The oranges are just sweet enough and it's so wonderful to know it's all juice with no additives. The bottle is about 6 oz., but you can also purchase a larger bottle (can't remember the cost). There's no way you can get a bottle of fresh OJ in the states for this little bit of money! The food they carry seems to be pretty much on the healthy side. They have ready made meals you can get for a quick dinner. There are also the regular grocery items for those looking for more. Lots of different ready made salads, a meat market, fresh veggies, a fish/seafood section, and a bakery are also here. Their offerings are extensive and it's a great place to pop in for a quick meal or snack item. I got a container of soup and a margarita focaccia at the bakery that our nice hotel clerk reheated for me. Great for a quick and inexpensive meal! Sorry, no pictures!

My favorite butcher in Amsterdam!…read more Whenever I want to get something special, I go there. But I also go there if I want to get meat for a week dinner :D I love their range of products. They seem to have it all, and the things they do not, you might be very much able to order. You can have goose or duck rillette, homemade boudin noir, boudin blanc with truffles, English breakfast sausages, other types of sausages which names I do not remember, multiple pâtés, mousse du canard...And I haven't even started on the meat. I highly suggest you visit them. They even have pig legs, if you are fan of homemade aspic. The people who work there are super nice, some also have the famous French accent. They speak English and Dutch, so do not fear. You can pay cash or Dutch pin. Speaking of paying - the prices are very good. My only problem is that they are closed on Mondays and Sundays, and they are not open til late. Therefore, if you need something from there plan it well. Otherwise - #meatlessmonday is a trend now ;)
