A bit surprised to see all the reviews all over the place for this shop. Granted I only come in for an oil change and not much else but I always felt as a female rider the fellas I dealt with were respectful and trust me ladies, I can smell that type of BS a mile away being in the automotive industry. That isn't to diminish what another reviewer felt but I got lucky I guess dealing with 2 guys who were decent there. They have given me tips about not cleaning my bike often enough between seasons (oops) haha but I always felt that were super accommodating to me for appointments and worked on my bike quickly so I can be on my merry way within the hour. Prices are subjective to each reviewer depending on how big the project is but parts costs so much now and that cost needs to be passed on which isn't unique to Cyclewerx - just the sad reality of the world we live in today. read more

$340 for an oil change, 3 screws, 1 zip tie, and a "Good look over" ($53) with the prognosis being there's oil everywhere. They charged me an hour and a half in labour($137.80), when I was literally across the street watching and wasn't more that 40 mins. Worst part is I really just needed my kick stand fixed, which over e-mails said it shouldn't be a problem. Still broken. Dude was nice enough, work was quick and did help me out in a tough spot with the zip tie, but Justifying $340 for the work that was done is ludacris. 1 Star read more

Over the years while waiting for service to be done I heard a lot of horror stories from people there getting service as well and how they got bad service and came to cyclewerx and never left. I've used them many times in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of the work they've done. Their prices are also very reasonable. I don't think you can find a better price to quality ratio anywhere in the city. Anyway, I had another great experience with them today, just a simple speedo cable fix but I've had them replace my clutch in the past, among an assortment of other various things over the last few years and I've never been let down. So you know when you're a new female rider and hear about untrustworthy mechanics and condescending douch-bros in the industry? Ya look no more! The most condescending douchebro, and his sidekick. Don't bother with this shop. I was buying a bike and wanted to inquire and see if I can find a mechanic close by that can do a safety and can be my go-to bike shop. The door was open to this one and me and my fiancé went in. We start seeing them turn off the lights and go quiet. So I just yell out 'hello?' And they finally come out looking all disappointed we didn't 'take a hint.' I just asked if they'd have time for me to bring in a new bike in the next week or so for a safety but Instead of a yes or no, I got a lecture about how my choice of a starter bike is 'shit.' But as luck would have it, HE had an amazing vintage looking bike that was about a grand over my budget that I should buy instead. And told me I'm not being realistic with my budget. Oh and the kicker, the WHOLE time he was talking about bikes and insulting me, he was looking and talking to my partner and not me. Sounds familiar ladies? He finally stopped when I said 'why are you talking to him? I'm the one with the bike asking the questions.' I'm pretty sure the reviews are fake, and trust me ladies, spare yourself the headache of just trying to be heard about what you want. Cuz here, he thinks he knows better about what's best for you and what you need. Something (the reviews) tells me he would treat dudes the same. Let me cut to the chase. How would you like to have your mechanic give you an oil change and forget to replenish your bike with oil. I rolled a way with a bone dry engine. The proprietor, Tom, is a good guy. He seems to know what he's doing, he wants to make his customers happy and he's a hell of a nice guy. Unfortunately, he is faced with two major issues. First is he is taking on a ton of bikes and projects. The higher the quantity of bikes he's working on, the lower the quality of the service he's able to offer. Secondly, one of the mechanics that work for him is sloppy and does not know what he is doing. I brought my 1975 Honda into Cyclewerx immediately after purchasing it from an electrician in the Guelph area. Bottom line is the bike came out of the shop is worst condition than when it went in. Here are a few details: 1. Replaced handlebar - Mechanic did not test the fit, and the handlebar dinged the tank. 2. Replace one of the front forks - Front brake seized and they allowed me to leave shop with faulty front brake. 3. Tune-up - My bike would not start after leaving the shop bec carb kept flooding. Bottom line is you're better off finding another motorcycle mechanic shop. read more

I have a serious business ethics complaint to issue against Cyclewerx, a motorcycle service and repair shop business based in Toronto, Canada. In fall 2014, I gave them a fully assembled 1976 Honda vintage motorcycle for them to rebuild and restore it fully. I paid thousands in pre-work deposits in cash and debit/credit to start the project. The motorcycle was never rebuilt, and it sat unassembled for two years in a few storage bins on site at their garage. Some work was eventually done on the engine and some paint work was done on parts. During those two years, I called for updates on a weekly basis for two years, and not once did they return my phone call messages. If I was lucky, I was able to speak with them on the phone if they were available and I was able to catch them. I reverted to in-peron visits when they would not return my phone calls. These in person visits are a 30 min drive from my residence. I would visit them in person weekly for updates for 2 years and was given ongoing promises of starting the project "soon". They continued to push back on finishing either because it was busy season or because they couldn't get to it. I finally pulled my motorcycle out in May, 2016. They've had it for almost two years. They demanded that I paid full price which was an additional few thousands of dollars to get it out of there for "work completed". They also requested half the money be in a cash settlement. They gave me back my motorcycle in individual pieces and parts, unassembled and work incomplete. Some came in used Tim Horton's coffee cups. After doing an inventory on the individual parts returned, I have realized that only 75% of the hardware of has been returned back to me. They have lost vintage parts on my motorcycle and now it cannot can't be re assembled or restored because those parts don't exist anymore. I continue to call them to ask for the remaining parts and they do not call me back. Please help ensure that they don't repeat this unethical behavior to others who are looking to work with their business. read more

Cyclewerx really knows how to treat their customers. They are honest, friendly and very helpful guys. I can't believe how much free advice and pointers they've given me, and some free bits and pieces they've had laying around the shop. Sometimes it's chaos there and messy but who cares, I ride an old beater CB650 and this is the place that knows how to service it and are always good about answering my questions etc about fixing small things on my own. These guys are great. There's a variety of things that each one of them specialize in and you can really take advantage of their experience in different things. There's one guy there who is amazing with electrical work you have any sort of wiring problem the guy will figure it out. And another guy with tons of dirt bike racing experience sport bike enthusiast different kinds of road bikes these guys cover the gambit.. Well I've lived in Toronto I have it all my work done there and never had a problem never had to go back. These guys are solid give them a try. read more

What I'll say about the guys at Cyclewerx is that they are honest mechanics which is a hard thing to find these days. If you want to be pampered when your bike goes in for service, this is not the place for you (go to the BMW Motorrad dealership for that...latte and all). You get what you asked for. No more, no less and the prices are usually reasonable. The owner Tom is definitely a great guy and as long as he's not too busy, you can usually get a good opinion from him. Their service can use a little help at times as they seem overwhelmed, tend to forget you ordered a part or a part of the service you requestded, but other than those gripes, not a bad option for having your bike serviced. Just make sure you stay on top of them and you should be happy with the end result. read more

Is their work better--or as good as--the most expensive shops out there? I have no idea. But, I feel that I can trust them and they treat me like they want me back, to wit, with fair pricing and good service. More than once they've gone out of their way to accomodate special needs I have had. I don't know a lot about motorcycle mechanics and they have always been very patient in answering my many questions. Sure, they've messed up a few times, but they have always fixed it and didn't blame me--something I've gotten from other places. (If you think the best places don't screw up too, you're mistaken.) I went to these guys because my scooter would not start using the start switch. He spent maximum of 2 minutes on the bike and said it was the battery and that he can order me a new one. I was skeptic because I had checked the battery myself. He made the decision without even checking the battery. I went back the guys who usually service my scooter. When I showed him the problem, he didn't say anything. He wanted to check things first. He check the battery and fuses and everything check out. He spent 20 minutes and found it was a loose connection. He performed an oil change checked the tires and brakes for a great price. I have had an oil change done at Cyclewerx previously which had cost me me more. These guys just want to run up your bill. Find a better and more knowledgeable shop. read more

Don't do it. The guy called my model of bike "disposable". It was clear they didn't want to service the bike. Invented lots of "problems" with the bike and gave me a crazy estimate. Needless to say I got out of there pretty quick. Got the bike fixed elsewhere for way less. read more

This is a horrible shop, do not trust them with your bike! I brought my bike in just after I had purchased it to get a full tune up, as well as a couple of things added. I had purchased some new grips from them to be put on for starters, they assured me it was a simple task. Needless to say they didn't get put on and then I did not get them back when I picked up the bike! Then there was the complete tune up of the brakes, fluids and all that great stuff that I had paid for. After picking up the bike, I noticed an problem with the acceleration and the engine sounded horrible, like it was on one cylinder instead of the two. So I decided to take a look for myself and after removing the plastic fairings discovered they hadn't tightened the exhaust to the headers, resulting in no compression in the cylinders and then the new spark plugs they had installed became fouled by gunk. Just wonderful! Then I had also paid for new front and rear brake pads. However after recently taking it to another shop to get the rear tire swapped out, I found out that only the front brake pads had been replaced; meaning I paid for yet didn't receive new rear brake pads. Plus in the process of whatever they were doing, they dinged and scratched up my rims! My final issue was the chain tensioner plates, which helps to adjust the tension on the chain and then also helps with aligning the rear wheel. Again while getting my rear tire replaced, the new mechanic informed me that whoever had done the original tuneup (i.e. Cyclewerx) had bent this plate, and then mickey moused the alignment, just another thing I need to now replace. I was happy to let the grips and exhaust issue go and fix the issues myself, but after finding out about all these new problems I have to fix because of their sloppy work I am furious. With all these problems there was still more problems, like scratching the front cowling and rear tail fairings, which I later had to sand down and repaint to fix. Plus did I mention it took about 4 weeks to get all of this lovely work done to my bike? DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR BIKE. Not only will it take forever to get what you want done, you'll end up paying for things that may not have been done and have more problems to fix. read more
